The ECS program runs outside of curriculum time and is completely independent of the Elite Athlete Development (EAD) program. ECS is designed to offer students the opportunity to train and compete for a specific sport, in 2018 these include Rugby League, Athletics (Sprinting only), Basketball, Touch Football and AFL. These sports are coached by qualified teacher-coaches before/after school or during lunch breaks. ECS teams will be offered strength and conditioning training, skills and game coaching and the opportunity to represent the College at Inter-School competitions.
Program Benefits Access to sport specific coaching delivered by qualified teacher-coach and or externally employed/volunteer professional coaches.
Team training and competition organised and managed by staff of the Academy.
Access to strength and conditioning programs, coaching personnel and associated fitness facilities.
Mentorship through positive Teacher/Coach athlete relationship.
Discounted physiotherapist treatment costs with Academy affiliated physio (cost not covered by this agreement).
Program fee
There are no fees to be a member of the ECS program. There will however be uniform and or competitions/activities held during the year that may involve a cost. Should an athlete be involved in any of these activities, parents will be notified and invoiced accordingly.
How to Apply Acceptance into the Pimpama Sport Academy: Extra-Curricular Sport (ECS) Program is dependent on a 3-week trial period whereby a student would demonstrate their commitment to being in the program. This will be done through attendance and effort at training as well as meeting satisfactory behaviour, effort and attendance during the school day. Before a student begins the trial period, a medical/permission form will need to be complet-ed and returned to the Head Coach. Parents will be notified at the conclusion of the trial process if their child was successful in being accepted. The Sport Academy has high expectations of student-athletes around behaviour, attendance, attitude and uniform. Acceptance is subject to the student signing and abiding by the Student-Athlete Agreement.
