Overview

Natural gas is a readily available alternative to gasoline. Compressed natural gas (CNG) is made by compressing natural gas to less than 1% of its volume at standard atmospheric pressure. Consisting mostly of methane, CNG is odorless, colorless and tasteless.

It's drilled from domestically natural gas wells or is found in conjunction with crude oil production.

Natural gas powers more than 14 million vehicles around the world today. Unfortunately, less than 250,000 of those vehicles are being utilized in the U.S. To date, the average growth rate in the U.S. has been about 4% per year since 2000. In contrast, global growth has boomed at a rate over 30% per year.

The numbers of CNG fuel stations across the U.S. has begun to increase and will allow more rapid growth of CNG vehicles on U.S. roads. There are 12,000 around the world, yet the U.S. claims about 500 public stations. New technologies and greater demand will fuel the growth of new stations.

As gasoline prices continue to rise, American interest in CNG is rising, and with good reason – CNG costs about 50% less than gasoline or diesel, emits up to 90% fewer emissions* than gasoline and there’s an abundant supply right here in the states.

CNG is clean, affordable, abundant, and American!

*Emissions reductions may vary by pollutant and make/model of vehicle.

Proven, combustible alternative fuel used in vehicles for decades

Over 15 million natural gas vehicles are operating around the world

Natural gas (NG) as a fuel is gaining widespread adoption across the US due to

significant fuel savings driven by plentiful domestic supply

NG has been proven to be safer than gasoline with significantly reduced emissions

Forecasted natural gas vehicle infrastructure timeline –

◦ 50% of domestic fleets will be fueled by natural gas by the year 2020

◦ Natural gas stations will be readily available by 2020

◦ Home refueling appliances will be readily available by 2015

July 2012 - joint venture AMP Trillium announced it will construct CNG fueling

stations along the I-65 and I-75 trucking corridors to Florida and Texas , some

stations now open

7 public CNG stations in the Chicago area sell CNG with prices as low as $2.29

gasoline gallon equivalent (GGE), Chicago area average is $2.55 GGE

11 public CNG fuel stations stretching from Kenosha to Sheboygan, Wisconsin sells

CNG with prices as low as $1.57 GGE, most under $2.00 per GGE

Waste Management provides fleet CNG refueling to businesses through PetroCard

Millions of fleet vehicles, in service across the US, are prime candidates for conversion

Conversion can be completed in as little as 2 days

Tanks can be re-certified by Advanced VTech for use in your next vehicle – reducing

the cost of future conversion

CNG fuel conversions are available for most pick-ups, vans, SUVs, and trucks; there

are some systems for sedans

Conversion to bi-fuel combustion enables vehicles to burn natural gas at a significant

savings v. gasoline. Depending on fuel use, most fleet vehicle conversion investment

pays for itself within 2 years

The Illinois Green Fleets rebate is $4,000 per vehicle conversion for up to 300 vehicles

per business; 150 vehicles per location

Natural gas is inherently a safer fuel: ◦ It has a narrow flammability range, and

◦ It is lighter than air and will not pool as liquid or vapor

CNG disperses rapidly, minimizing ignition risk when compared to gasoline.

In the event of a spill or accidental release, CNG poses no threat to land or water, as it is nontoxic.

Strict safety standards make CNG vehicles as safe to operate as gasoline-powered vehicles. CNG fuel systems are regulated as stringently as traditional OEM gasoline fuel systems.

CNG tanks have been tested for decades.

Advanced VTech certified, experienced technicians install a new compressed natural gas (CNG) tank under a vehicle, in the trunk, or the bed of a pick-up. A CNG fuel port is added, often within the existing fuel door. CNG fuel lines are installed to the engine compartment. The gas first passes through a regulator to step the pressure down. The gas passes through a fuel filter to an additional set of fuel injectors added alongside the existing gasoline injectors. The CNG fuel process is controlled by an added engine control module that communicates with the existing OEM control module. A gas / petrol switch is added to the dash board enabling the driver to switch between the fuels on the fly.

• Typical conversion of a van or pick-up ranges $11,000 - $13,000, a delivery truck cost will run $12,000 - $15,000, cost depends on the type, size, and number of tanks added to the vehicle.

• Illinois businesses and residents qualify for the Illinois Green Fleets program - $4,000 will be rebated for each conversion.

• Depending on usage of the vehicle, payback on your investment could easily be within 2 years! See example below.

Example: active delivery vehicle – GM or Ford extended van • Assumptions:

• Net cost with rebate at $7,000 • 3 weekly fill-ups of 20 gallons of gasoline • Replace 60 gallons of gasoline with CNG • Per gallon savings $4.35 – 2.45 = $1.90 • Weekly savings $114; annual savings $5,928 • Payback on investment – 14 months
