An exciting and challenging secondment opportunity has arisen at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for an enthusiastic senior registered nurse who is keen to enhance and develop their management and clinical skills in a Senior Charge Nurse position.
The candidate should have a commitment to acute medicine of the elderly, patient centred care and supporting effective team working. The post holder will have 24 hour responsibility for the ward, providing clinical leadership, managing and developing the nursing team and having a pivotal role in driving forward models of care. The post holder will be expected to ensure safe and effective care that enhances the patient experience and contributes to the delivery of the organisation's objectives. The post holder must have a minimum post registration experience at charge nurse level within an acute clinical setting and be able demonstrate expert clinical and professional practice development through experience and theoretical knowledge, with management and leadership experience. They must understand the complexities of caring for frail individuals with acute and chronic episodes of delirium whilst planning care and treatment for acute medical conditions.

An opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Senior Nurse – Child Protection to join NHS Fife Acute Services.
You should have extensive experience of working with children, young people and their families, as well as expert knowledge of child protection, legislation and policies. You should have a high level of communication and organisational skills and have the ability to work within a team and on your own initiative.
A post registration qualification in Child Protection or evidence of working towards it is essential to fulfil the requirements of this post.
You will be actively involved in the coordination of Child Protection cases across Acute services, focusing in particular around Women and Children’s Services and the Emergency Department. Significant experience of working in these areas is essential.
Previous experience of facilitating clinical supervision is required. This is an exciting opportunity to join this friendly, dynamic and multidisciplinary team and deliver child protection support to colleagues in Acute services.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Sexual Health nursing team in Fife. The team delivers high quality, specialist care to the people of Fife who attend Sexual Health services across the region.
The service is modern, innovative and provides care across Fife in a variety of settings from hospital based clinics to the university campus. The service also works closely with third sector partners and the wider community.
You will ideally have experience in all aspects of sexual health care and be an independent nurse prescriber. You who have a keen interest in working in the specialty but do not yet have these skills will be considered under the Annex 21 agreement where full training will be given at a percentage of the Band 6 salary with the candidate progressing to the full salary on completion of predetermined competencies.
A variety of hours and working patterns are available. The service works on a Monday –Friday basis and provides a daytime and evening service.

An opportunity has arisen within the Children’s Unit for a band 5 staff nurses to join our dynamic team. The Children’s Unit consists of inpatient medical/surgical ward with 26 beds, a 3 bedded High Dependency Unit, GP assessment area and an adjoining Paediatric Ambulatory Care Unit.
You should possess excellent communication skills, be proactive, flexible and able to work autonomously and part of the bigger team. An awareness of the Paediatric Patient Safety Programme would be advantageous and a willingness to extend the role to meet the needs of the service.
We offer a robust education programme for all staff and expect staff to maintain professional development to acceptable level. We will offer a 2 week orientation programme for the successful candidate working within each of the area’s which will be a supernummery period. We encourage all newly qualified staff to complete Flying Start and allocated time will be given for this.

A vacancy has arisen in the Neonatal Unit, Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy for a Band 5 Staff Nurse. (Registered Child Branch, Midwife)
We are a Level 3 Neonatal Unit, consisting of 4 ITU, 2 High Dependency and 14 Special Care cots.
At present we have 5 qualified Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners in post and 2 currently in training.
We are a forward thinking unit. You will be given the opportunity to undertake Foundations in Neonatal Care modules.
We are looking for individuals to join our team of staff. You must possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work within the team as well as on your own initiative.
You will be expected to deliver a high standard of care and use a holistic approach to family centred care.An up to date knowledge of evidence based practise and a commitment to the delivery of clinically effective care within neonates is essential.
You will have a recognised clinical qualification and evidence of on-going professional development. Flying Start should have been commenced on qualifying.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 registered nurse to join our stroke rehabilitation unit. Letham is a 14 bedded stroke rehabilitation unit with the community setting. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated nurse with a passion for delivering excellent standards of care. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. As part of the multi-disciplinary team work closely within the stroke services and also have regular contact with other specialities within the hospital and community setting. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop specialist skills in the assessment and care of the stroke patient. You will be supported in your role with ongoing training which includes the completion of specific stroke care competencies.

You must have excellent communication skills, a knowledge of community nursing, a flexible approach to working within the community setting. Offering safe, effective patient centred care to people within their own home or a homely setting.
The post will be worked over 5 mornings and include participation in a weekend rota.

We are looking for nurses who wish to develop skills in Medicine of the Elderly as well as nurses who are experienced in this specialty. With the increasing number of frail older people in the population, there is an innovative frailty assessment in place at the front door point of admission which helps to identify appropriate acute admissions into Acute medicine of the elderly wards. The experience available to you in Medicine of the Elderly will enable you to develop a range of skills which will be transferrable to many care settings and other inpatient specialties. It is a developing specialty which offers the opportunity to nurse patients with complex conditions and acute delirium and to gain experience in managing daily dynamic discharge on very busy, friendly wards which can be challenging but highly rewarding.
There are a variety of permanent and temporary, full time and part time positions available, including opportunity to second into an acute medicine of the elderly ward with sick and frail elderly patients. The wards are currently undergoing a period of transformation and we would welcome motivated caring staff into the team.
You will be joining a well motivated and dynamic multi-disciplinary team who strive to deliver the highest level of care possible. Previous orthopaedic experience would be advantageous. Candidates as would experience or an interest in delivering patient centred care to patients with dementia. An opportunity has arisen within the Children’s Unit for a band 2 nursing auxiliary role. The role within the ward involves working with the medical and nursing team providing holistic, family centered care to children and families.

The client group is diverse. We work closely with the Children’s Hospice in Kinross providing shared care for children with life limiting conditions.
This role includes basic patient care, infection control standards for the paediatric areas, ordering stock, rotation of stock and the use of IT systems and processes required.
Staff are encouraged and supported to extend skills within their role.
Our areas are welcoming for children and families using our service. The service is also supported by play team staff that help to provide play therapy and distraction to children.
Full orientation to areas will be given with the support of other team members.
If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up post. You will be willing to undertake any training as required.
If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up post. You would provide risk assessments and recommendations regarding risk management planning; specialist clinical assessment; psychological formulation based upon clinical and risk assessment to inform treatment planning; delivery of specialist psychological interventions appropriate to patient needs; joint working and specialist consultation to colleagues and other services (e.g. criminal justice social work, health, prison); and specialist opinions to Scottish Government, courts and mental health tribunals. This post is attached to the new low secure unit based at Stratheden Hospital, Cupar, though the post-holder will also liaise with colleagues in the community forensic team and will provide input as required to the Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit at Stratheden Hospital.

You should have a sound clinical knowledge, good IT skills and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should ideally have previous experience of working within primary care.
You will have a Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be on the practising register of the General Pharmaceutical Council. It is essential that you have a relevant post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy/ prescribing sciences or be willing to undertake this within an agreed timescale. You will be an independent prescriber (or be willing to undertake this within an agreed timescale). It is desirable that you have completed the Stage 2 vocational training scheme or can demonstrate equivalent experience.
You will be working mainly in either East (Glenrothes/ North East Fife areas) or West Fife (areas west of Kirkcaldy) with ability to travel across Fife, if required.

We are looking to welcome up to new 6 new colleagues to join an enthusiastic, motivated and supportive Emergency Department team. You will work in the Emergency Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, which opened in 2012. The department has an annual attendance of 65000.
The department includes an 8 bay resuscitation area, a 9 bay majors area, a 6 bay minors area and 2 paediatric consulting rooms. There is a dedicated Procedures room and a 6 bedded Emergency Medicine Observation Unit which admits primarily toxicology and head injury patients. There is access to electronic pathology and radiology ordering. Departmental guidelines, protocols and rotas are on the departmental intranet web pages. We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target.
The Emergency Department has 24 hour senior doctor presence, (11 Consultant Emergency physicians 9.85 WTE) with current shop floor consultant presence daily from 0800 to 2300. We have 4 GPwSI who deliver regular sessions in evenings and at weekends. There are daily ENP sessions to help with the minors flow.
There is a co-located GP OOH service in the evenings and at weekends, allowing redirection of appropriate patients. A formal redirection policy is in operation.
There is a 24 hour ENP-led Minor Injuries Unit Located at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline which is clinically supported by the senior doctors in the Emergency Department.

These posts will be appointed to for 1 year During this period, you will work for four months as an additional member of the junior tier (maximum 48 hours per week), with shop floor teaching focusing on prioritisation of workload, formulation of investigation and management plans. There will be scheduled time spent at Virtual Fracture Clinic vetting, knee clinic, and assisting on the observation ward with patient review under consultant supervision. There will be opportunities for additional experience in other specialties such as ophthalmology and ENT. It is expected that successful candidates will complete any outstanding life support courses not yet done (ie APLS/ATLS), and Study Leave time will be given for this.
In addition, one month will be spent as a supernumerary trainee (maximum 40 hours per week) in anaesthesia gaining skills in basic airway assessment and management. The second six months will involve working on the middle grade rota. You will have allocated CPD time of 8 hours per week. There will be the option to use these CPD sessions to allow a period of secondment to another specialty within NHS Fife.
Successful applicants will be encouraged to take part in departmental audit and in delivery of teaching sessions to junior colleagues and nursing staff with consultant support. Previous postholders have presented their CPD/audits at national conferences and have been successful in obtaining posts in ACCS EM training. You will be expected to maintain an e-portfolio and undertake regular appraisal. Each clinical development fellow will be allocated a consultant educational supervisor to support their clinical and professional development.
