An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to lead the NHS Fife Practice and Professional Development Team. The post combines strategic and operational components, managing and leading the service across NHS Fife, to support service modernisation through relevant educational frameworks, ensuring a sustainable and flexible workforce. Leading the service in the context of safe, effective, efficient and evidence-based Nursing and Midwifery practice and policy, reflecting local and national priorities; interpreting national policy / drivers and advising on implementation is a core aspect of the role. You will work closely with a range of stakeholders at local, regional and national level including collaboration with Medical and Allied Health Professional colleagues to support working across professional and organisational boundaries.

As the principal contact with a number of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), contribute to the planning, development and implementation of nursing and midwifery programmes.

This post requires an individual who can lead and develop the PPD function in NHS Fife, responding to the strategic vision for NMAHPs. This role requires a confident nurse leader who can shape nursing / clinical practice by utilising excellent leadership, influencing and motivational skills as well as generating new ideas that will support and drive forward the nursing and midwifery agenda across the Board. You will have excellent interpersonal and communications skills working with a diverse range of staff and Higher Educational Institutions including representing Fife at national and regional groups. You will be a registered nurse or midwife with a Post Graduate qualification and the ability to present work at Masters level. An exciting opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Nurse has arisen to join our Fife Women and Children’s Team. You will have clinical managerial and leadership responsibility for the Tier 3 Neonatal Services in Fife together with the Paediatric Ward including Ambulatory care, Short Stay Assessment Area and HDU. This post also manages the Specialist Nursing teams and Paediatric Outpatients across the Victoria Hospital and Queen Margaret Hospital sites.

Children’s Services need to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the children and families in our care. To influence and lead these changes you should be able demonstrate the ability to be innovative in your approach to the challenges of adapting care to meet the needs of the population of Fife together with Local and National directives.

The provision of person centred, safe and effective care must be central to the function of this post along with excellent leadership skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for a senior registered nurse who is keen to enhance and develop their management and clinical skills in a Senior Charge Nurse position.

You should have a commitment to acute medicine of the elderly, patient centred care and supporting effective team working. You will have 24 hour responsibility for the ward, providing clinical leadership, managing the nursing team and having a pivotal role in driving forward models of care. You will be expected to ensure safe and effective care that enhances the patient experience and contributes to the delivery of the organisation's objectives. You will join a highly motivated and skilled multidisciplinary team who provide integrated neurorehabilitation.The inpatient unit rehabilitation programme has been internationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) since 2003 and seeks to provide a high standard of care and rehabilitation to people with a variety of neurological conditions with a particular emphasis on acquired brain injury (including stroke and TBI) and multiple sclerosis.

We currently have an opportunity for an ERAS Nurse Practitioner within the Colorectal Service (Planned Care) at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy.

You will be joining a well motivated multi-disciplinary team who strive to deliver the highest level of care possible to colorectal patients in Fife.

Applications are invited from individuals who have a post graduation certificate in GI / Colorectal care or the equivalent level of knowledge and experience.

As nursing lead for the ERAS programme you will be expected to:

• Developing the role of the ERAS nurse practitioner for colorectal patients within Victoria Hospital, NHS Fife

• Lead on the development of the ERAS programme across the surgical directorate.

• Support the management of care for colorectal patients in the enhanced recovery programme.

• Develop and facilitate the delivery of educational programmes for ward staff and the wider MDT in the colorectal enhanced recovery programme.

• Audit and report on the progress of integrating the ERAS standard of care.

Experience in M&H, venepuncture and cannulation are desirable, but training can be provided. Good communication skills are essential.

Job Purpose:

This post involves taking a specialist role within the dietetic diabetes team base in Pentland House, Lynebank Hospital, to provide a service in the West Fife area to GP diabetic clinics, general community dietetic clinics and group education sessions.

The team works closely with community diabetes specialist nurses and provides dietetic input into a range of diabetic specialist areas, including pregnancy, type 1, and insulin pumps.

Working Areas/Caseload:

You will support colleagues and provide support and supervision to junior grade staff and students. They would also provide specialist input into specific diabetic clinics in the community.

The clinical time is spent primarily with out-patients in community clinics, but could include hospital clinics, domiciliary visits, group education sessions and health improvement.

With the current national development of the GP clinical pharmacist role, this post supports GP Practices to undertake a range of roles, including medicines reconciliation, discharge letters, acute and repeat prescription requests, undertaking polypharmacy reviews in care homes, patients’ own homes or in a homely setting. This post would suit a pharmacist with considerable clinical experience, who has supervised or trained other staff and who would like the opportunity to gain experience of working in primary care.

You will have a Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be on the practising register of the General Pharmaceutical Council.

For band 8a grading, it is essential that you have either a relevant post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy/ prescribing sciences or independent prescriber qualification or are due to complete either within the next 6 months. You will be expected to undertake clinical assessment skills and consultations skills training. Applications will also be considered for a band 7 position if you don’t meet the above criteria.

You should have a sound clinical knowledge, good IT skills and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should ideally have previous experience of working within primary care.

We are looking for a replacement Consultant Neonatologist to join our existing team in Fife delivering quality care to babies and their families.

You will join a close-knit team of neonatologists, who with the general paediatricians, work across both acute (hospital-based) and community settings. The current general paediatric consultant team have special interests in allergy, child protection, diabetes, endocrinology, respiratory, gastroenterology, neurobehavioural paediatrics, rheumatology, neurology and cardiology. You will be encouraged to work closely with specialists in the regional centres, to contribute to audit and research on the unit and to further enhance and promote paediatric training in Fife. This post carries a mandatory on-call commitment.

We are a level 3 neonatal unit based in the Victoria Hospital with six ITU/HDU cots and 14 special care cots with the unit admitting around 450 infants per year. The birth rate in NHS Fife is approximately 3500 per year. We are part of the SE Scotland neonatal Managed Clinical Network. Badgernet has been in operation in the unit for the past 4 years and the maternity system recently started in August 2016. The unit delivers therapeutic hypothermia, HFOV and inhaled nitric oxide therapies and cares for infants of any gestation. Only surgical and cardiac neonates are routinely transferred elsewhere for treatment. We have regularly run Newborn Life Support courses for all new nurses and medical staff since 2003.

The Paediatric and Child Health Services in Fife are delivered across a number of community settings and in a 24 bedded in-patient ward located in the recently built wing of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. A separate Children’s Out-Patient Department and Ambulatory Care Unit complete the services offered in the hospital. There are around 3000 medical paediatric admissions per annum. Additional out-patient services are offered at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.

In line with the Ritchie report recommendation that the new Urgent Care Services become learning and educational services, this post will primarily be to develop:

A programme of educational events for PCES clinicians and the developing Urgent Care Service

Systems to ensure that sessional GPs are up to date with mandatory training modules

Educational groups which support sessional GPs with appraisals eg audit, SEAs etc

Joint working with neighbouring boards to ensure a culture of mentoring, support and development for new GPs joining the service, particularly recently qualified GPs

Medical Student placements within urgent care Maximal learning opportunities within urgent care etc

You will work closely with the Associate Clinical Director of PCES and in collaboration with the Lead Nurse and other management colleagues in a number of areas e.g. liaison with the GPs, support to clinical governance, key performance indicators, GP training. Your role will be to provide leadership, under the direction of the Associate Clinical Director to education and learning across urgent care services. You will work closely with Health and Social Care Clinical and Management colleagues to support Clinical Governance. Full registration with the GMC, experience of working as an OOH GP, together with high credibility and a flexible approach are pre-requisites, as are excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to deliver change.

TREATMENT ROOM NURSE 25 HOURS PER WEEKWith the option to increase hours to cover Maternity Leave from July 2018

We are looking for an experienced Treatment Room Nurse to join our friendly and supportive Nursing Team to work in our Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay Surgeries.

The ideal candidate should have experience in treatment room tasks including wound management, venepuncture, immunisations, travel vaccinations and cervical cytology.

In addition, good communication, computer and organisational skills are essential for this post.

Salary will be subject to experience and qualifications.
