An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Charge Midwife to take charge of the Antenatal Clinic in Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, Fife, in the first instance.

The maternity unit in Kirkcaldy was opened in January 2012, and as well as the outpatient and community settings has a high risk Consultant Unit and a low risk Midwife Led Unit, with approx 3500 births per year. The antenatal clinic at Queen Margaret Hospital is the second consultant and midwifery antenatal clinic in Fife, serving the women and babies of West Fife.

We are seeking an experienced and forward thinking individual to lead the team in the outpatient setting. We require an individual that aspires to ensuring excellent standards of care for pregnant women and their families, to include managing a day care unit.

You must have strong leadership and management skills. You will be a midwife who believes that the pregnant women’s journey and experience is central to the care delivered by the team.

Requirements:Registered midwife on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register, with demonstrable continuing professional development, preferably at degree level (or working towards a degree)Strong leadership skills; to support and develop the midwifery teamSubstantial midwifery experience at Band 6 level (AFC)Excellent communication skills are essential along with a flexible can do attitudeAbility to organise priorities and co-ordinate work of self and others, including those from other disciplinesGood understanding of budget managementAware of changing trends in midwifery and obstetric practiceAbility to work autonomously and demonstrate ability to problem solve

We are seeking an experienced nurse who will embrace the challenge of this dynamic and exciting role. You will be an expert clinical practitioner responsible for providing advanced clinical assessment of the surgical patient; enhancing care and improving patient flow in conjunction with national standards.

You will work as part of a team of two Advanced Nurse Practitioners and be responsible for performing clinical assessment of deteriorating patients and apply clinical expertise to diagnose and initiate appropriate investigations and treatment. You will work collaboratively with the designated ward teams as well as the on-call team as well as others to deliver safe, effective, person centred care.

You will work across professional and organisational boundaries in partnership with others including acute and primary care nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management teams. You should possess the leadership skills to prioritise demanding workloads and be responsive in a challenging clinical environment.You should be able to demonstrate an ongoing and self-motivated commitment to continued professional development.

You must possess an Advanced Clinical Examination qualification and preferably the Non Medical Prescribing course – or evidence of working towards this.

You must be in possession of a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice. Possession of a Masters qualification or a willingness to work towards is desirable; however, the ability to demonstrate Masters level thinking is essential. Ward 15 is a very busy ward and you are required to work well under pressure and remain calm. You will be required to take charge of the ward in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse carrying out clinical, leadership and management duties. The Charge Nurse needs to be clinically experienced but also have the knowledge and ability to support the SCN in the management of the ward including staff management. The candidate should have a commitment to acute medicine of the elderly, patient centred care and supporting effective team working. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a prescribing support nurse with experience in delivering care to patients over a range of long term conditions to join the prescribing support team in helping to improve the safety, quality and cost-effectiveness of prescribing within NHS Fife.

Under the direction of the lead pharmacists, you will engage with GP practices, care homes, clinics and wards to improve prescribing, maximise prescribing efficiencies and improve adherence to clinical guidelines and formulary in your specialist area.

This may involve review of patients’ medication to provide expert opinion on best treatment; set-up of bespoke clinics to review these patients (in addition to practices’ regular clinic provision); peer support and education to practice nurses to develop their own clinics.

An excellent relationship has been established with the Managed Clinical Network (MCN) leads and nurse managers and they will continue to provide professional input and direction to your role, and you likewise will be expected to support the work of the MCN at times, e.g. through meeting attendance, providing educational support.

We are looking for nurses with in-depth knowledge over a range of long term conditions eg respiratory, diabetes, chronic pain and mental health. You will have experience in a patient facing role in primary care or hospital and have the ability to influence prescribing to ensure that patients receive the optimal treatment for their condition, in line with local and national guidelines.

You should have good interpersonal skills and be able to work with a range of people including patients, fellow nurses, GPs, practice managers, practice pharmacists and MCN managers/leads.

The posts are Fife-wide and the ability to travel throughout Fife is essential.

We are looking for nurses who wish to develop skills in Medicine of the Elderly as well as nurses who are experienced in this specialty. With the increasing number of frail older people in the population, there is an innovative frailty assessment in place at the front door point of admission which helps to identify appropriate acute admissions into Acute Medicine of the elderly wards. The experience available to you in Medicine of the Elderly will enable you to develop a range of skills which will be transferrable to many care settings and other inpatient specialties. It is a developing specialty which offers the opportunity to nurse patients with complex conditions and acute delirium which can be challenging but highly rewarding.

You will be joining a well motivated and dynamic multi-disciplinary team who strive to deliver the highest level of care possible. An exciting opportunity has arisen in Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy for band 5 Registered Nurses to support, as part of the multidisciplinary team, the delivery of new models of care within 2 busy acute wards.

Ward 41 cares for patients who require more complex discharge planning. The ward model will be supported by ‘Daily Dynamic Discharge’ methodology which has been developed by Scottish Government.

We require motivated Registered Nurses who are committed to multidisciplinary team working. As part of the multidisciplinary teams you will ensure the delivery of person-centred care and you will work closely with the Discharge Hub and other Health and Social Care colleagues to proactively manage the inpatient journey and discharge patients with appropriate support.

You should be able to work using your own initiative and have an active interest in mentoring students and junior staff. Venepuncture and cannulation skills are desirable but training can be provided. Good communication skills are essential.

This unit presently has opportunities for Registered Nurses interested in part-time and full-time posts, offering a flexible working pattern of 12.5 hour shifts, day/night rotation covering 7 days per week.

Ward 42 is a very busy Acute Stroke Unit looking after 24 patients, with a commitment to multidisciplinary team working. We specialise in caring for patients who have had a stroke.

An opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to join our team delivering care to stroke patients. Interest in nursing stroke patients is essential for this post.

This is an excellent opportunity for 1st level Registered Nurses interested in developing knowledge and skills in acute stroke nursing. You must have excellent communication skills and team working abilities.

You should be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team and have a genuine interest in caring for patients with stroke.

Successful patients then move on to Tier 4 and possible Bariatric surgery.

An opportunity has arisen to join an enthusiastic, motivated and supportive team of 11 Consultant Emergency Physicians (9.85 WTE). The role is based in the Emergency Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, which opened in 2012. The department has an annual attendance of 65,000.

The appointee will be responsible for the reception, resuscitation, diagnosis and initial treatment of all emergencies. They will make arrangements for patients to be admitted into hospital beds, special units or other hospitals, to outpatients or back to the community. They will be expected to participate actively in the clinical workload of the Department, undertaking direct management and assessment of patients. During Departmental sessions, the appointee will need to be aware of the junior doctors’ workload and to take action to ensure that excess hours are not worked. As an EM consultant group we believe strongly in providing a sustainable work/life balance. A PA is included for each on call. Clinical administration time has been factored in as per RCEM guidance. There is a 24 hour middle grade rota with no gaps.

We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target. We have an excellent relationship and collaborate closely with all in-patient teams. As a department we are committed to teaching and providing a positive experience of EM to our junior doctors. There is an established endovascular aneurysm service deploying both fenestrated and conventional stent grafts jointly with radiology. Renal access surgery, surveillance and maintenance are well developed. Amputation rehabilitation and limb fitting are supported by a dedicated physiotherapy team. The Network has a strong commitment to both undergraduate and postgraduate training.

LECTURER IN NURSING - PREVENTION & CONTROL OF INFECTION

Applications are invited from NMC registered adult nurses to join our highly motivated team in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. We are looking for an individual with experience and expertise in prevention and control of infection to teach into our postgraduate control of infection programmes and pre-registration nursing programme.

You will hold a postgraduate qualification, ideally a master’s degree, and have broad experience and knowledge within the control of infection field. Preference will be given to applicants with an NMC registered teaching qualification, and you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues facing nursing and health care today, particularly in relation to the prevention and control of infection.

Markinch Medical Practice is looking for a part-time medical receptionist/secretary to work 35 hours per week. Previous experience of working within either primary or secondary care would be desirable although full training will be given to the successful candidate. The ideal candidate should be hard working, possess excellent communication skills and be able to work well under pressure while still maintaining a caring and professional manner.

As medical secretary, you must possess excellent keyboard skills and knowledge of audio typing is desirable.

Previous experience of working in a fast paced medical reception role would be advantageous as well as knowledge of clinical systems such as EMIS, Docman and SCI-Gateway.

Salary is dependent on experience but will be competitive.

The start date for the post is not yet confirmed but is likely to be in around 8-10 weeks time.
