Market surveillance authorities and RED
Most of the radio equipment are currently placed on the market under the provisions of the R&TTED
From 13th June 2017, only RED is applicable
Products placed on the market until 12th June 2017 may continue to be made available after the 12th
June 2017
Market surveillance authorities will have to assess the compliance against both directives for a certain period

R&TTE and RED
RED is the alignment of R&TTE to the NLF
Scope of RED is different from the one of R&TTE
Requirements of RED are different from the one of R&TTE (e.g. receivers parameters)
R&TTE compliant product are not compliant with the RED
A new (or a complementary) assessment is needed for R&TTE products to be placed on the market under the provisions of the RED

Provisions of the RED
It is important that everybody has the same understanding of the provisions of the RED
ADCO RED is supporting the Commission by preparing the guide on the application of the RED:• All stakeholders are involved• RED guide shall be limited to the RED specificities and
not repeat what is already described in the Blue Guide• RED guide will be submitted to TCAM WG• RED guide will be checked and endorsed by the
Commission

RED Guide – Next steps
• Proposal to have a step by step approach :• have a first edition of the RED Guide without open
issues published• continue the work on the open issues and to complete
step by step the RED Guide
• Draft RED Guide has been submitted to TCAM WG members for comments until 5th January 2017
• New draft will be prepared in February 2017

The technical documentation : a key issue
The technical documentation:
shall be linked with the radio equipment (same identification);
shall provide the evidence that the radio equipment complies with the essential requirements;
shall be drawn up before the radio equipment is placed on the market;
shall be continuously updated;
is the base for the declaration of conformity.16
