I started with a blank file page with a black background. First I researched the size of an A4 paper in cm which came down to print measures of 21.0 x 29.7cm. I used that as my base line measurement. From there, I painted the background black and inserted the text which I download beforehand.

I used Adobe Photoshop CS6 to create our magazine ad. Using the same typography throughout our production was essential.

I opened up a layer in photoshop and I used

‘Devil breeze’ the same typography we used in

our digipak. I placed it at top of the page so that it was clear to see without any distraction from the

digipak. I cropped the digipak to suit the

template still using the same themes throughout.

I kept the central image the same without any new enhancements. Gemma used selective colour to enhance the protagonist’s hair and background as well as the colours of the sky. Although we initially wanted to use pictures from a studio for the front cover we felt the use of outdoor image is more appealing to our target audience as well as to that of the genre.

The font selected is from Adam CG Pro which I used for the other text (NIGHT VISION) whereas the typography I used for the band’s name is the one I suggested by devil breeze.

I installed the font from dafont which went straight to photoshop (as the image above shows).

I added our company logo to the bottom of our magazine

ad to enforce a sense of a professionalism media

product.

I placed my text at the central of the page as I felt it was

easily readable and grabbing the audience attention

straightway. It also shows the consumer which single is available from the album. During my research into

magazine ads I found that many of the tracks used were

songs that were critically acclaimed by reviewers ‘NME’ and others . In addition as we are hoping to get distribution from sites such as Youtube, that can also advertise our

music with a fee.

I also included 4 stars which often can be seen in magazine ads. Reviews are an important element of any industry as it can make or break a product. So getting good reviews means a successful product.

The advert the certain generic information about the album (no website or record label logos) and this may prompt the consumer to research the album themselves if the advert has peaked their interest

I was certainly inspired Imagine Dragons new album ‘Smoke+Mirrors’. I used similar features ad layout with a slight twist.
