If you have been thinking about taking up a new hobby, gaining skills for a new career and you love learning, have a look through our website to see what we have on offer. This term we have workshops that cover everything from blogging for beginners to creating gifts out of clay (handy for Christmas). You can join classes with like-minded people in our hands-on and supported classes and go home having learnt a practical new skill. If you are looking to up-skill for work or to change careers, keep an eye on our fully accredited course offerings starting in Term 1 2014. Some of our accredited courses are funded, which will enable you to increase your opportunities for meaningful work in the local Community Services sector.Our quality training includes everything from First Aid certificates to a range of business and computer courses and many more.

Our Community College has been operational since 1978 in the Northern Rivers area of NSW.

The following business qualifications cover a variety of roles in administrative and management positions from entry-level to managerial in any industrial or organisational setting. These courses can be taken in a number of different ways making it easy for you to learn around your other commitments.

BSB30407 - Certificate III in Business Administration TThis course reflects the role of entry level employees and is delivered by distance. Materials are provided on CD and regular email contact with the trainer is required.

BSB40507 - Certificate IV in Business Administration TThis qualification reflects the role of senior secretarial, clerical and administrative staff and is delivered by distance. You will develop high order organisational, computer, team management and business support skills.

BSB5110 - Diploma of Management kT A qualification which reflects the role of managers in any industry or organisational setting. Typically people in these roles will have considerable experience and knowledge of specific work requirements in their field. The qualification equips participants with a sound theoretical knowledge base and the managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate their own work as well as the work of a team.

BSB40407-Cert IV in Small Business Management T This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in various medical administration contexts such as medical receptionist, clerk or medical secretary. This qualification reflects the role of senior secretarial, clerical, and administrative staff and is delivered by distance. You will develop high order organisational, computer, team management and business support skills.

BS40807-Certificate IV in Frontline Management TA successful frontline manager requires essential team leadership and project management skills. This flexible course equips you to provide leadership and guidance to others and take responsibility for the effective functioning and performance of the team and its work outcomes.

FLEXIBLE DELIVERYThis approach combines a variety of study methods, for example self-paced study with workbooks may be supported by online forum discussions, email and phone contact with your trainer and/or weekly, fortnightly or monthly workshops.

ONLINEOur online options allow you to study at your own pace with access to your own personal trainer/assessor to support you through your study program.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) The RPL process allows you to apply for credit for previous study, work and/or life experience that match the learning outcomes of specific units within your course. You will have to provide evidence of a detailed match between your knowledge and experience and the qualification requirements.

CHC30212 - Certificate III in Aged Care TLearn how to provide physical, social and psychological care for the elderly in hostels, group homes, private homes and community settings. Like job roles at this level, this course is very practical and interactive, and concentrates on hands-on skills. If you are an existing worker in the sector, you may be able to undertake this course as a traineeship.

CHC40108 - Certificate IV in Aged Care TThis course is for workers moving to a more diverse and complex range of roles. If you are an existing worker in the sector, you may be able to undertake this course as a traineeship.

CHC40312 - Certificate IV in Disability TDevelop the skills and knowledge required to provide training and support to people with disabilities in order to enhance their ability to achieve greater levels of independence, self reliance and community participation. CHC40212 - Dual Certificate IV in Home and Community Care/Certificate IV Disability TDevelop the skills and knowledge required to carry out activities related to maintaining an individual’s wellbeing through personal care and/or other activities of living. CHC40608 - Certificate IV in Leisure and Health TDevelop skills and knowledge to work in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres under professional supervision to assist with design, implementation and evaluation of health and leisure activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas.

CHC30112 - Certificate III in Community Services Work TThis qualification reflects such roles as support workers, case workers and client contact officers. COMMUNITY LEARNING PROGRAM

ACE is proud to deliver the QLD Community Learning Program which will be delivered at our campuses at Burleigh Heads and Kirra College starting this term.

This program aims to provide core skill development and supported accredited training to 120 disadvantaged learners from the Gold Coast area.

This program will be delivered in an informal, community-based setting which has proven to be successful for those who have not previously succeeded in formal education and training environments.

• ACE recognises that all learners have different needs and support requirements to be able to successfully complete training in formal qualifications.

• The project will commence with an orientation, program introduction, learner and career profile, and Integrated Skills Evaluation to identify each participant’s current skill base and to inform the student’s success plan and training and support requirements.

Participants will undertake a full Certificate III qualification choosing one of Aged Care, Home and Community Care or Children’s Services. This will enable realistic career opportunities for local employment in the community services sector.

A series of optional study skills and career guidance workshops will be offered as part of the accredited training course which will provide additional support for participants.This course is funded by the QLD Department of Education Training and Employment.

INVESTING IN EXPERIENCEThe Australian Government is investing $20m over two years to implement the Investing in Experience (Skills Recognition and Training) Program.

Employers can apply for grants of up to $4,400 to assist workers over the age of 50 to gain a qualification that matches their skills.
