Corringham CE Primary School Friday 9th September 2016 Academic Year 2016/17
Welcome back everyone!
Firstly we would like to welcome you all back to our new academic year here at Corringham. We have had 17 new
recepon children join the school this year, so welcome to Max, Daniel, Peter, Ffion, Alicia, Millie, Mia, Luke, Adam,
Harry N, Oliver, Violet, Scarle,, Daisy, Lainee-Jade, Harry H and Ruby. We have also been joined by two children in Y3
and Y5, so welcome to Tiana & Alexa. We look forward to working with all our new families and hope they will enjoy
their me with us.
We’ve had lots of work going on over the holidays. The children have had newly refurbished toilets, the staff toilet has
had a makeover, the hall floor has been renewed, the playground has been resurfaced and KS1 have a new interacve
whiteboard too. The teaching staff have worked hard to get the learning spaces ready for the new year and I think the
school is looking great. A special thank you to Mrs Hammerton who gave up much of her me over the holidays to
liaise with builders and decorators!
Text Alert System
On Monday morning we will send test text. If you do not receive this message, please call the school office to check
your records. Thank you.
Parking and driving in our village
Let’s start the new year with a big effort to remember to park considerately around the village during dropping off and
collecon mes. Can I also remind ALL parents to drive carefully through the village. We thank you in advance for your
cooperaon with this ma,er. We encourage families to Park and Stride from the Village Hall, what a great way for the
children to start their morning with a walk! The school pupil entrance opens at 8.50am and children may walk straight
in to their classrooms.
Milk in School
Those children who are aged 4 can receive free milk every day...you’d be surprised how many children drink it even
when they won’t at home too! Please can we remind those parents to complete the online registraon form to allow us
to receive this milk. Thank you.
Swimming
All children who swim MUST wear a swim hat. This is a rule of the swimming pool. The Leisure Centre have made it
very clear that children will not be allowed to swim without one. Thank you for your cooperaon with this ma,er. Chil-
dren may also bring goggles although this is not a requirement.
PE
Our Sports Coach will be in school on Tuesday. All children will need their PE kits in school, every Tuesday unl October
18th, so that they can take part in this specialist coaching session. Please also remember, if your child is not swimming
on a Thursday, they will also need their kit on Thursdays too. PE takes place every Thursday throughout the year.

PTFA No$ce
Corringham School PTFA would like to give a warm welcome to all the new and returning
families, and we hope that you have enjoyed your summer holiday!
We would like to invite you to our first commi,ee meeng of the school year, to be held at
Corringham School on Friday 23rd
September at 3.30pm. This will be our AGM, with
elecon of commi,ee members, so it will be a great opportunity to introduce fresh faces to
the PTFA. It would be fantasc if children from all year groups were represented by
parents / grandparents / carers at the PTFA meengs.
We need lots of new ideas to help raise funds for the PTFA, which in turn supports many
acvies for the children at school. A,ending the meengs does not mean you will
automacally be expected to help out at every single PTFA event, forever more. We
appreciate support from families and, really, every li,le helps!! If you have an hour to
spare on Friday 23rd
September, please join us for a chat (and chocolate biscuits, maybe
even chocolate brownies...), we would love to see you! PS. Children are welcome!
