ABSTRACT

Earthquake proof shelter is one of the most effective and most convenient shelters

when it will be established in Baguio City. It can lessen the casualties during earthquake. The

designs of these shelters are eco-friendly because it uses recyclable materials like tires, plastic

bottles, etc. the design can be seen under the discussion page of this paper. The funds that will

be used is not a big problem when dealing with earthquake-proof shelter because, again, it is

made of recyclable materials. The chosen designs are small for be able to fit on the limited

open spaces here in Baguio City. A survey has also been done to prove that Earthquake-proof

shelter is truly needed, not only in Baguio City, but also in other places where earthquakes

usually come. Another factor that will be considered is the locations of the earthquake proof

shelter, and that will not be a hindrance in this project because, as we can see in the map of the

MGB (Mines and Geosciences Bureau), we have lots of places to be selected for the

establishment of the earthquake-proof shelter. This map is a landslide map that was given by

the MGB to the researchers last March 7, 2014.
