Age 7

Leominster Hospital UMass Memorial Worcester

At age seven I was diagnosed with diabetes. I was in second grade at St. Leo’s School in downtown Leominster. It was the month of November when I was diagnosed with diabetes in the Leominster hospital. I was then transported to UMass Memorial hospital. The ride felt so long. I was discharged the day before thanksgiving.

Birthday

Saturday, July 29, 1999 around 5:25 am was when I was born in the Leominster Hospital. I was born with the name Joel Dennis Normandin Jr. I got my name from my farther. Joel was one of the twelve minor prophets of the Old Testament. I lived in Rindge, New Hampshire with my mother and father.

Colby

Colby is one of my little brothers. I was three years old when he was born. He lived with my mother, father and myself in New Hampshire. He goes to the same elementary school I went to. He will be coming here to Sky View next year.

Dad

My dad and I have the same name. Joel Dennis Normandin he is a Sr. My dad and I love fish. We have a 75 and 150 gallon fish tank in our living room. Right now we have a total of about 50 African cichlids that get about 5-8inches long.

Elijah

Elijah is my littlest brother. He was born in Leominster on June 13, 2009. His full name is Elijah Paul Fournier. His first name was also a profits name. Elijah, Colby and I play with our nerf guns and try to shoot each other.

FriendsI have a few

friends but my best friend is Matthew Wheeler. Every year Matt and I go to Barrett Parks haunted trail. I am the one who goes first.

Great Grandmother My Great-Grandmother

turned 85 years old on December 18 of 2012. She is shorter than I am. When I was younger she watched my brother and I while my mom went to work. She also knitted us slippers and sweaters. She does not drive so my mom and I like to take her to stores and places that she needs to go to.

Houses

My house has 4 bed rooms 2 bath rooms. There is a kitchen, dinning room, living room, and office space. It is on an acre of land. Part of the house is brick and the rest is brown wood siding. We have a fire place that we sit in front of during the winter to keep warm.

Ice Cream

My favorite flavor is cookies n’ cream. The best part is the big chunks of Oreo cookie. Once a month during spring and summer my family and I go out to Kimball's farm to get some food and ice cream. My mom and I get cookies n’ cream, my little brother gets vanilla with cherries, my littlest brother gets chocolate with whipped cream, my little sister gets plain vanilla.

Jokester

I like to joke around with my brothers. I always try to find a new prank to play on them. We take April 1st to a new level in my house. My Step-dad tries to get us. My mom is not good with jokes so we get her good every year.

Kayaking

I go kayaking on Wyman Pond with my grandfather. Twice a year we kayak around the whole pond. One of my uncles and my grandfather ‘s brother also lives on the pond. The kayak is a faded yellow, Necky Rip, kayak. While kayaking we stop and fish in different areas.

Leominster

Leominster is the town I was born in. I have lived in Leominster for eight years. I have moved a lot to different towns. When I was born I lived in New Hampshire, then I moved to Massachusetts. I have lived in Ashby, Shirley , and then that is when I moved to Leominster.

Mom

My moms maiden name is Melissa Sands. Born in Fitchburg on April 7. My mom was stubborn and did not want to be born on time. My mom’s favorite holiday is Easter. Sometimes it even falls on her birthday.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire is where I lived for the first four years of my life. My dad still lives in the house I came home from the hospital to. My mom and great-grandmother painted my room before I was born. My room at my dad’s house in New Hampshire is still the same. My younger brother finally has his own room and I don’t have to share with him anymore.

Octopus

The first time I ever had octopus was at my Great-Grandmother’s 85 birthday party. The octopus was very chewy. It felt like I was eating rubber.

Pets

At my moms house I have a leopard gecko. The family pet’s are a guinea pig and a German Sheppard and Rottweiler mix . At my dads house we have a pure bread Rottweiler, two cats and about fifty fish. My dad actually found our two cats and five others. The black and white one is the mother and the brown colored one is one of the daughters.

Quilts

My grand mother makes quilts for us kids. The last ones she made was for my little brother and sister. My brothers has trucks on it. My sisters has flowers on it. She makes other things as well. The both use their quilts in bed every night.

Red Sox

The Red Sox's are my favorite baseball team. My first real Red Sox’s game was in 2010 and it was the Red Sox’s VS. the Yankees’. I went with my step dad while my mom stayed home with Colby and Elijah. The game started at 7:05 pm and ended at 12 something or around their. The Red Sox won the game.

ShayShay is my baby sister. She was

born in Leominster on June 16, 2010. Her full name is Shay Fournier. I remember the first time that I held her, she was so tiny. She always goes to my mom or I when she is upset. Now you can talk to her and it is like she is talking back to you.

Trains

I like to build and display my model trains. It is neat to put together the trains. I have several different trains and lots of tracks that they can ride on. My grandfather has a lot of Lionel train sets that we have put together several times. He was a big kid at heart he got me interested in having my own trains.

Uncles

I have 2 uncles. They are both my dads younger brothers. They like to come to my dads house when we are there and visit with us. One of my uncles races dirt bikes and he is very good. He has helped me to learn how to ride them. I would like to be as good as him someday.

VacationsOver April vacation we celebrate my mom’s birthday. We go to the anchorage inn in York main. Rooms have 2 beds and a bath. The middle building has a snack bar and a pool.

Winter

Winter time is always the best. I like being able to play in the snow. My brothers and I go out and have snowball fights. My sister now likes to take rides in her sled. She went down the hill for the first time this winter and wanted to go again.

X-Ray

I have had a lot of x-rays done. When I was younger I needed one of my chest. Just recently I had a whole body scan. That was neat seeing the image on the computer screen. I needed to sit very still and put my feet in a weird position.

York Beach

Every year my family and I go to York beach up in Maine. We go for only a day but we do a lot of different things all day long. We first go to the beach and have lunch. Then we usually play in the water until around 4 and go get cleaned up. After that we have dinner, once it starts to get dark we go to the board walk. Before we go home we get taffy.

Zinnia

Zinnia is a tropical American flower. They are made of herbs and shrubs. They have long pedals and big flower heads. My mom plants the most colorful zinnia’s. My favorite is the red and white one.
