1. What happens when the system is selected ON while on the ground? The anti-ice valves open for a 30 second test, then return to the closed and armed condition. They automatically re-open when the aircraft becomes airborne.

2. What wing surfaces are de-iced? Only the outboard three slats.

3. What happens in the event of a system electrical fault (wing anti-ice)? Both valves close to prevent asymmetric wing de-icing.

4. What does a wing anti-ice FAULT light indicate? The valve position disagrees with the selected position or low air pressure (indicating a possible leak). (APU air produces a low pressure fault.) Illuminates momentarily when valve is in transit.

5. What does an engine anti-ice FAULT light indicate? Valve position disagrees with the selected position. Illuminates momentarily when valve is in transit.

1. How do you turn on the ice detector probe light? If it’s installed, you can use the Wet Compass light switch.

2. When the NO SMOKING switch is in AUTO, what lights will illumi-nate and when? NO SMOKING and EXIT signs will come on when gear is extended and go off with gear retraction or when cabin altitude exceeds 11,300 feet regardless of switch position.

3. When the SIGNS EMER EXIT LT is selected ON, what is illumi-nated? Overhead emergency lights, EXIT signs and escape path light-ing.

4. With the EMER EXIT LT (Off, Arm, On) switch in the ARM posi-tion, what lights will illuminate and when? With the loss of AC BUS 1 or DC ESS SHED, or if the emergency generator is operating due to normal aircraft electrical power failure, the escape path lighting and EXIT signs will illuminate.

5. So, when do the Emergency lights (escape path, Exit and Overhead Emergency) illuminate? a) Loss of normal electrical power, b) Cabin altitude exceeds 11,300 feet, and c) Overwing escape route and escape slide lights illuminate if the slide is armed and the associated emergency exit is opened.

- FASTEN YOUR SEATBELTS and RETURN TO YOUR SEAT signs illuminate automatically when the cabin altitude exceeds 11,300’ regardless of the position of the associated switches.

- When armed, the emergency lighting system activates if the AC1 or DC ESS SHED buses fail.

- If the emergency generator is the only power source, only the over-head emergency lighting is illuminated (powered by DC ESS SHED). During emergency lighting conditions, the R dome light will only come on IF the switch is out of OFF.

- If the DC ESS SHED bus is unpowered the Overhead emergency lights do not operate.

Notes

Newer A320’s and all A319’s have a light for the ice detector probe controlled by the STBY COMPASS switch. When installed the switch is relabeled "ICE IND & STBY COMPASS".
