Burgum sees more use, maybe new floors in Black Building

FARGO – Doug Burgum’s vision for downtown’s Black Building includes a renovation of the less-than-perfect-ly-maintained building, more restau-rants and cafes, another entrance and maybe a new story or two.
The nine-story building was the tall-est in town when built in 1930, but it appears to have structural reinforce-ments to go higher still, the downtown
developer said Friday to some 60 ten-ants.
Burgum, who has agreed to buy the Black Building, had invited them to the Fargo Theatre to explain his intention and answer their questions. He prom-ised to be open about what he knows and what he still has to figure out.
Burgum’s work is familiar to the ten-ants who have watched the developer’s
