FNB President Tim Purman was the fleet footed shopper this year, and with a little help from Rueben’s, he netted over $1,225 worth of meat, vegetables and other supplies headed for the Hartford Food Pantry. free pre-planning seminar

How do you want to be remembered, and who will tell your story?

W hen you leave this life, there will be a lot of important

decisions to make in a very short amount of time. Have you given any thought as to who will have to make those decisions? Wouldn’t it be nice if you didn't have to burden those closest to you at a time when they would rather just be remembering the good times and sharing their stories of you with others? Plan to attend a free pre-planning seminar to help craft your remembrance. By doing something now, it really does save your family from making a lot of difficult choices later.

HIALEAH, FL. -- An ingredientused to treat inflammation in thor-oughbred racehorse legs, is now rec-ognized as safe and effective for hu-man use. The ingredient has beenformulated into a product calledARTH ARRESTTM and comes in astrength designed for humans. Developed by a pharmacist and achemist, the ARTH ARREST for-mula is a breakthrough in the treat-ment of painful disorders ranging fromminor aches and pains to more seriousconditions such as arthritis. Research-ers are excited and say the formulacan relieve arthritis pain for millions. Scientists suggest that ARTH AR-REST works by intercepting the painmessenger substance that sends painsignals to the brain. Although themechanism is not totally clear, pain isrelieved in the affected area becausethe pain signal actually disappearsafter continued use.. ARTH ARREST is the only producton the market with Neurocaine and isavailable in a convenient, roll-on ap-plicator without a prescription. Con-sidered a medical miracle by some,ARTH ARRREST is available in phar-macies or by calling 1-800-339-3301.Now at:

2 cups boiling water $

1/2 cup packed light brown sugar $

1 1/4 pounds pitted prunes, (dried plums) $

1 cup Armagnac, or cognac $

1 vanilla bean, cut in half $

The oaky taste of Armagnac, a French brandy made in Gascony, has long been paired with prunes. While Armagnac is available in vintage bottlings, nothing so extravagant is needed for this recipe. Stir tea and water in a small bowl; let steep for 5 minutes. Strain into a medium sauce-pan; stir in brown sugar. Bring to a boil over high heat; boil until slightly thickened, about 2 minutes. Place prunes in a large bowl; stir in hot syrup. Set aside to cool to room temperature, about 1 hour. Meanwhile, sterilize two 1-pint canning jars by steaming them upside down, their lids alongside, in a closed steamer for 10 minutes; or place in a large pot and cover by 1-inch of water; boil 10 minutes. Drain prunes, reserving liquid separately. Whisk Armagnac (or cognac) into the liquid. Pack each steril-ized jar with half the prunes. Nestle half the vanilla bean in each jar. Pour 1/2 cup of the Armagnac mixture into each jar. Seal and turn upside down to blend ingredients. Set right side up and store in the refrigerator for 1 week to plump. Makes about 4 cups.

$10,000 Cash GiveawayTickets are now available for the annual $10,000 Cash Giveaway

set for Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Chandelier Ballroom, Hartford. The event, held each year, is sponsored by the Hartford Area Chamber of Commerce and the Kettle Moraine Lions Club.

“Each year our two agencies come together for the annual $10,000 Cash Giveaway,” said Barb Laabs, Executive Director of the Hartford Area Chamber. “We are pleased to join efforts with the Kettle Moraine Lions Club and produce an event that gives back to our community,” Laabs said.

Two $10,000 cash payouts are part of the event each year—one cash giveaway of $10,000 will be given to a community agency and one cash giveaway of $10,000 will be given to a lucky ticket holder. Other cash and prizes are also part of the fun and excitement.

Two agencies have been selected this year as agency recipi-ents: they are the Hartford Historic Preservation Foundation-Chandelier Ballroom Bistro and the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County-Hartford. “Our efforts will again reach twice as far in supporting two excellent agencies located in the Hartford area,” said Laabs.

A second $10,000 cash prize payout will also be awarded to a lucky ticket holder, plus others can win, too, with prizes that include a $1,000 cash prize payout, five $200 cash prizes, four $100 cash prizes, and various other non-cash prizes valued at $100 or more. Tickets are $100 each and admit two people to the event that includes complimentary food, beer and soda plus the chance to win. A cash bar will also be available.

Tickets are available at the Chamber office, from Chamber Board members and Ambassadors, or from members of the Kettle Moraine Lions Club. For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact the Hartford Area Chamber at 262-673-7002.

‘Lombardi Play’ at Schauer attracting celebrities

Steve Paykel from West Bend plays the role of Vince Lombardi in “I AM NOT A LEGEND.” – The Story of Coach Vince Lombardi at the Schauer Center in Hartford on October 12th and 13th.

The Kettle Moraine Players production of “I AM NOT A LEGEND.” – The Story of Coach Vince Lombardi opens at the

Schauer Center in Hartford on Friday, October 12th at 7:30pm. The play, and especially the first performance, is attracting a lot of attention for a number of reasons.

Even though the play was written 31 years ago, played success-fully in Canada and Europe and won a major prize at the presti-gious Edinburgh Festival in 1986, this is the first production of the play on a United States stage. It seems that in 1986 when it was rid-ing a wave of international success, negotiations for a Broadway production broke down and the playwrights instead chose to adapt it for TV and it has aired in Canada and on ESPN in 1988 on Super Bowl Sunday. Now they have chosen to release it to stages in the United States and KMP purchased the national premiere rights as well as Wisconsin statewide rights for this year.

Broadway’s loss is Hartford’s gain because KMP held warm-up performances at Campbellsport, their home base, and are premiering it at the Schauer Center. It will have just two perfor-mances in Hartford and then it moves on to Saint Norbert College in De Pere for 3 performances on October 26th and 27th.

Typically playwrights attend national premiere performances and this is no exception. KMP says both playwrights are coming from Canada for the October 12th opening performance. Also in attendance will be Vince Lombardi’s secretary, Lori Keck, who now lives in the Milwaukee area. KMP has met with her and done research for the show. They have also had contact with the coach’s daughter, Susan Lombardi, who moved back to Green Bay from Florida last year. She cannot attend the Hartford opening because of health issues but will be in attendance when it is at Saint Norbert College, near her home.

KMP said they worked very hard to get actors in the main roles who resemble the characters and they feel they’ve been very successful in doing that. But it was no easy task. It took the help of West Bend Optical and a dentist in the case of Vince. Sally Jude from Hartford and Jovon Serrano from Jackson who play Lori Keck and Marie Lombardi, have gotten to the proper look with the wigs KMP purchased. KMP said Jason Miller, a Hartford homeschooled high school senior has the stature of and is almost a dead ringer for Bart Starr in his rookie season and Miller has adjusted his hair color to help. Additionally, Serrano had to learn a Brooklyn accent and Miller had to learn a southern accent for the roles.

In the first warm-up weekend at Campbellsport the show played to standing ovations and drew high praise from audience members. KMP said it appeals to everyone and the most vocal in their praise were men who are sports fans but never go to the theatre. KMP said they are hoping that all those hunters who saw Escanaba in da Moonlight last October will return to the Schauer Center for this production.

There are two performances, both at 7:30pm, on October 12th and 13th. Tickets range in price from $15 to $18 and can be purchased by calling the Schauer Center box office at 262-670-0560, ext. 3 or purchased on the internet at www.SchauerCenter.org/BoxOffice/index.html. KMP said seats are more abundant for the October 13th performance but there are many good seats for both performances.
