    The first Metro rail in India was built in

    Kolkatta city. The Kolkatta Metro was Builtin the year 1982 which is now controlled by the

    Indian Railway. It is the Underground metro

    rail.Delhi too has its own metro system. This

    metro is one of the most famous, hi-tech as well

    as safe metro. It is controlled by DMRC (DelhiMetro Rail Corporation)

    DMRC has chalked out a plan to implement

    a 30kms long elevated metro system in Pune! The

    metro would run from University Chowk to Warje

    and will go via J.M. road and Mutha road.DMRCs M.D Mr E.Sreedharan was

    supposed to be in Pune on Aug 22nd to decide

    about implementing the 2nd line (Agriculturecollege -Telco).

    report on the Chennai metro to Chennai

    Metropolitan Development Authority(CMDA) by the end of the month. The plan

    consists of 2 lines partly elevated and partly

    Hyderabad Metro Rail

    The CM of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Reddy

    inaugurated the 4 storey Metro Rail Bhavan in

    Saifabad . This building would house theHyderabad Metro Rail Corp and also DMRC.

    consortia will be finalised by the end of themonth and financial bids by October-end.

    Cochin Metro Rail

    The Kerala government has been told to invite

    technology neutral bids and explore the Public

    Private partnership (PPP) option. The totallength of this elevated metro will be 25.3 km,

    from Alwaye to Petta (Tripunithura). The cost

    of the project has been raised from Rs 1,966crore to Rs 3,008 crores.
