A Message from the Pastor ~ Un Mensaje del Párroco This past week has been a difficult week for our parish family as we suffered from the loss of Father Carlos Rodri-guez. His passing came as a shock to all of us. At this time we mourn his passing and we remember the beautiful, priest and friend he was to all of us. Although we suffer we should never forget that Fr. Carlos answered God’s call to the sacred priesthood so that he could make Christ present among those who he had the privi-lege to serve. He did the will of the Father. This week we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who became man to do the will of the Father. He comes to offer us hope. As devastating as death may be we must always be consoled by the certain hope of everlasting life. Fr. Carlos lived his entire life in anticipation for the moment when he would meet God. Over two thousand years ago Jesus was born in Beth-lehem to show us God’s unity with us. God never abandons us; on the contrary he wants to be more present among us each and everyday. On behalf of Fr. Amable, Sr. Mary Elizabeth, Mr. Osacar Aviles, and the entire staff we wish you and your family a Christmas filled with peace and joy!

La semana pasada ha sido una semana difícil para nuestra familia parroquial ya que sufrimos el fallecimiento del padre Carlos Rodríguez. Su fallecimiento fue una sorpresa para todos nosotros. En este momento lamentamos su fallecimiento y recordamos este sacerdote fiel y un buen amigo. Aunque sufrimos, nunca debemos olvidar nos que el PadreCarlos respondió al llamado de Dios al sacerdocio sagrado para que pudiera hacer presente Cristo entre aquellos a quienes tuvo el privilegio de servir. Hizo la voluntad del Padre. Esta semana celebramos el nacimiento de nuestro Salvador, Jesucristo, quien se hizo hombre para hacer la voluntad del Padre. Él viene a ofrecernos esperanza. Por devastadora que pueda ser la muerte, siempre debemos ser consolados por el cierta esperanza de vida eterna. El Padre Carlos vivía toda su vida anticipando el momento en que se encontraría con Dios. Hace más de dos mil años, Jesús nació en Belén para mostrarnos la unidad de Dios con nosotros. Dios nunca nos abandona; por el contrario quiere ser más presente entre nosotros cada uno y todos los días. De parte de Padre Amable, Sr. Mary Elizabeth, Mr. Oscar Aviles y odo nuestro equipo pastoral les desamos un Feliz Navidad.

One Solitary Life

He was born in an obscure village. The child of a peasant woman.

He grew up in another obscure village. Where he worked in a carpenter shop

Until he was thirty.

He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never went to college. He never visited a big city.

He never travelled more than two hundred miles from the place where he was born. He did none of the things. Usually associated with greatness. He had no

credentials but himself.

He was only thirty three. His friends ran away. One of them denied him. He was turned over to his

enemies. And went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While

dying, his executioners gambled for his clothing The only property he had on earth.

When he was dead. He was laid in a borrowed grave. Through the pity of a friend.

Nineteen centuries have come and gone. And today Jesus is the central figure of the human race. And the leader of mankind's progress. All the

armies that have ever marched All the navies that have ever sailed.

All the parliaments that have ever sat. All the kings that ever reigned put together.

Have not affected the life of mankind on earth. As powerfully as that one solitary life.

Una Vida Solitaria Nacio en una oscura aldea. Hijo de una campesina.

Se crio en otra pequeña aldea donde trabajo de Carpintero hasta los treinta años. Despues, durante Tres años fue predicador itinerante. Nunca escribio

un libro. Nunca tuvo un cargo publico. Nunca formo una familia ni fue dueño de una casa.

No fue a la Universidad. Nunca visito una gran

ciudad. Nunca viajo lejos. No hizo ninguna de las cosas que ordinariamente asociamos con grandeza. No tuvo otra carta de presentacion que a si mismo. Tenia solo treinta y tresAños cuando la marea de la

opinion publica se volco contra el. Su amigos de Escaparon. Fue entregado a sus enemigos que se

burgaron de El y lo sometieron a juicio.

Fue clavado en una cruz entre dos ladrones. Mien-tras moria, sus verdugos sortearon entre sis u tunica, su unica posesion en esta tierra. Una vez muerto fue

enterrado en una tumba Prestada gracias a la compassion de un amigo. Han pasado deicinueve

siglos y todavia El es la figura central de la raza humana y el lider del progreso de la humanidad.

Todos los ejercito que han marchado, todas las armadas que han navegado, todos los parlamentos

Que se han sentado y todos los reyes que han reinado puestos juntos, no han afectado la

Vida del hombre tanto COMO ESTA SOLA VIDA SOLITARIA.
