E ach anksgiving, I look forward to the wonderful

holiday dinner that I get to share with my wife, my two sons and our extended family. But the food is secondary – we’re really most grateful for a day to share together.

I also never forget that many men and women in our community see the holidays as simply overwhelming. ey’re alone, or struggling to put food on the table for their families. ey’d be thankful for anything...but most of all, knowing that someone cares enough to share anksgiving with them.

at’s why I’m grateful that friends like you have made the Mission a place that fi lls plates with food...and hearts with new hope.

Your passion to help others builds new hope in lives each day. New hope is the most powerful gift you can give to a person gift you can give to a person gift you can givewho’s been sleeping on a cold sidewalk for days or fi lled with despair because of an addiction.

So many of us look forward to holidays full of love, laughter and togetherness. We’ve been richly blessed by God. I hope today, you’ll take the opportunity to share those blessings with people in our community who need a

place like the Mission. It’s a gift worth sharing...this anksgiving and every day of the year. the year.

A Message fromTracy L. Gorman

Larry found healing...in more ways than one!

“I wasn’t able to work because of my seizures.”

“I found out I was epileptic,” Larry says. Soon, his driver’s license was taken away, and he lost his job. “I couldn’t get another job,” Larry says. “No one wanted to hire me.”

Without a steady income, Larry couldn’t aff ord the medication that prevents his seizures. “Without my medication...my arms, legs, my entire body would lock up.”

“I felt like my life was being taken away from me.”

Alone, broke and homeless, Larry walked the streets for two days. “I got to the point where I didn’t want to be around anybody.”

Larry had heard about the Mission and our services to get people back on their feet – so he walked here to fi nd out more.

“ e staff is helping me recover at my own pace.”

When he walked through our doors, Larry was invited to sit down for a hot meal. at’s when he learned about our residential P.A.C.E.S. (Purpose, Accountability, Christ, Education,

Service) program, which helps men rebuild their lives with classes, Bible study, counseling and the support of our loving staff .

Since he’s joined our program, Larry has restored his life, body and spirit. He’s rebuilt his faith in God – he was baptized at our Center of Hope Church and reads his Bible every day. He also helps in our kitchen, serving food, washing dishes, sweeping fl oors. “If I can, I’ll help with whatever the Mission asks.”

“I haven’t had one seizure since I’ve been here at the Mission.”

e staff has helped Larry get his social security card and his birth certifi cate, and fi nd a new apartment that specializes in assisting people who need medication.

“I’m taking my medication regularly now,” Larry says, smiling. “ e Mission has helped me get on a schedule again.”

Today, Larry’s not only feeling better physically, but is grateful to the Mission for helping heal the broken places inside his heart, too. “ e Mission has helped me get my life together and back where I wanted it.”
