A Look back at 2014

Here is my own recap of 2014 based on posts from my Facebook feed.

Winter 2013

In November 2013, I lamented the destruction of a patio chair while on my way to visit my dadin the h ospital following the his surgery. It was a pleasant and successful visit. In December2013, I created yet another JibJab holiday animation using photos of my kids and I .

We celebrated Christmas with family. I posted photos here and here .

Everybody on the Internet waited patiently for 2014 to arrive .

We celebrated the New Year by dressing Elijah up in a sash and a bowler hat, then takingpictures of him .

Later, we celebrated New Years Eve.

January 2014Frozen was a big hit in the movie theaters. This article tried to explain the popularity of itssongs . The production of the next Star Wars movie was announced . A bank of floppy drivesperformed the Imperial March from Star Wars .

I tried to create a Path on EduGuide.org and invited my friends to participate in it .

Frequently shared maps of the United States shaded almost entirely in blue started to makeus feel like we had secretly been transplanted onto the planet hoth. As we accumulated moreand more snow, our parking began to look more and more like the Rebl Base from TheEmpire Strikes Back.

February 2014Elijah celebrated his first birthday . Facebook provided me with a photo montage representingthe time I spent on the social media network. I promptly shared it with friends . The storybehind the movie The Possession, which I watched last night, was shared on Facebook .

March 2014Parody videos of Let It Go and stories about dystopian futures continued to be popular . Thekids and I watched The Lego Movie.

Kayla competed in Lansing. Grandma Morgan watch her perform her skating routine .

April 2014Kayla performed her artistic program at the 2014 Mountain Town Classic in Mount Pleasant,and earned first place .

Elijah talked to Grandma Boyne on the phone . Shepherd held its Maple Syrup Festival . Kaylaand Elijah posed for pictures inside the Little Red Schoolhouse .

May 2014Kayla, Elijah, and I all saw our shadows, proving that Winter was finally over.

Robin Williams passed away.

Kayla graduated from the Eighth Grade.

June 2014I reflected upon how much things have changed at Toys R Us . We attended the MorganFamily reunion . Weird Al Yankovic released Mandatory Fun.

People started to get sick of songs from Frozen . My favorite show was Halt and Catch Fire .I wrote about my memories from watching the first Batman movie in theaters .

July 2014Josh and Kayla visited their Grandparents in Howell. When I picked them up, they left amessage to help their grandmother remember the experience.

August 2014I explained why I felt that The Doomsday Machine Star Trek episode should be reimaginedfor the next Star Trek movie . I asked for help writing a user persona for teachers .

September 2014Kayla attended Homecoming. I posted photos .

Kayla turned fourteen .
