Welcome to the NEW YEAR of 2019!! Here we are well into January of the new year and we already have four gigs on the calendar for the month. Once again, thanks to Jim Melchers for his work on maintaining the calendar, among other tasks for the club.

The Christmas party held on December 5 was a great success, as usual. Thanks to all who participated and attended.

This month we will celebrate many notable birthdays but most importantly Pauline Guelbert will be 90 years old on the 10th. She is one of our most reliable supporters through her attendance and treats that she brings to the meetings. Also, she makes it to many gigs and annual SPAH conventions. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAULINE!

Please take note of the article and photo on page 3 highlighting the efforts of BW Honeycutt to bring the enjoyment of the harmonica to the youth of the Crosspoint Christian School in Villa Ridge, MO. The enjoyment of learning a musical instrument will be with these youths for the rest of their lives.

Putting the Reeder together is always a challenge so I once again appeal to the membership for ideas for articles or the actual articles themselves. If you run across an idea, a story or a joke, please send it to me for consideration for inclusion.

CROSSPOINT CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, VILLA RIDGE, MO

Some 3rd -5th grade students (pictured above) at Crosspoint Christian School in Villa Ridge, MO played “Silent Night” at the school Christmas program. BW Honeycutt used the workbook supplied by GHC (and the harmonicas purchased from GHC) to get an understanding of the harmonica. BW tells us that it was huge hit. Also,three of the students went on to play the song for their congregation on the Sunday prior to Christmas, and several parents and grandparents have inquired about taking up the harmonica as well. BW says “I appreciate the club’s help in introducing the world of harmonica to these youngsters!”
