Partnering, Collaboration & Communication—Understanding the client’s priorities, needs and goals

serves as the starting point for the preconstruction process. Developing a partnership with the client and their team is essential to success moving forward.

Methodology for Controlling Costs—Our team’s cost control strategy works in harmony with the intercommunications of the design team and client. Evaluation of alternate materials and products, and thoroughly analyzing the energy and efficiency of the buildings systems, allows the client to select systems that provide the best value. All equipment and systems will be evaluated for initial costs, energy consumption, carbon output, system service/maintenance cost, and overall efficiency or replacement costs.

Budget Development—Developing a comprehensive cost model/budget for the project allows the client to make critical decisions based on accurate cost data. Before the design process proceeds to the next stage of development, a fully detailed and comprehensive cost estimate

is provided and reviewed with the entire project team for approval.

Coordination—Building Information Modeling (BIM) is utilized to coordinate, detect, and resolve potential clashes between building systems. Utilizing BIM greatly enhances the understanding of the project for all parties.

Constructability and Site Logistics—Evaluating the design for constructability and providing input on the construction means and methods allows Flint to bring a builder’s approach to the design process, reducing critical construction impacts to both cost and schedule.

Scheduling—Our team uses the latest Oracle P6 scheduling software with enhanced capabilities such as collaborative features available through on-line access. We genuinely believe schedule and cost are directly related, and have a direct affect on the overall success of the project.

California Raptor CenterFlint Builders was a major donor for the UC Davis Veterinary Medicine California Raptor Center, where we support The California Raptor Center, an educational and research facility dedicated to the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned birds of prey. Flint donated demolition work and construction of the midflight cage and eagle display.

Mustard Seed SchoolFlint supports the Loaves & Fishes, Mustard Seed School program, which helps meet the needs of homeless children. Our renovation of a classroom included a new power service, audio/visual upgrades, new mechanical equipment, casework, flooring and ceiling. We continue to be involved with Loaves & Fishes through donations of office equipment and supplies.

Copper for KidsFlint president, John Stump, serves on the board of Sierra Forever Families, where Flint Builders donates scrap copper, which is redeemed for cash that is contributed to the Copper for Kids program through Sierra Forever Families. Copper for Kids recycling bins are installed at every Flint project site.
