91Dundee Ceramics Workshop, 91 92DCA Print Studio, 92 The Circle, 94Dundee Comics Creative Space and 94 95Dundee MakerSpace. 95 96University of Dundee, 96 97Abertay University and 97 98Dundee & Angus College all

have leading art/design courses and each have Degree Shows running in May. 98 99V&A Museum of Design, Dundee opening in September 2018 – designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, his first building in the UK.

Some of the many festivals to check out include: May – Dundee Design Month, Degree Shows; June – Dundee West Fest; Aug – Dundee Flower and Food Festival; Sep – Dundee Pride; Oct – Festival of the Future, Discovery Film Festival and Dundee Science Festival; Nov – NEoN Digital Arts Festival, Dundee Jazz Festival, Christmas Light Nights.

Places to stroll and see71 72The top of the Law, our extinct volcanic plug, is the best

for panoramic views over Dundee, Perthshire, Angus and Fife. Take the 72 73Open/Close street art trail in the doorways of the city centre and Stobswell. Head along 73 74Riverside at sunset and admire the Tay Rail Bridge, visit the 74 75Riverside Nature Park, head to 75 76Maggie’s Centre to admire world renowned architect, Frank Gehry’s impressive building, from the outside only. Cycle the Green Circular, 27 mile route around the city. 76 77Walk or cycle over the bridge to Fife, enjoy Slessor Gardens Discovery Walk and take in Sharing Not Hoarding, an experimental public art project. Visit Dundee Urban Orchard and stroll along the waterfront, also the site of the V&A Dundee. Dundee has many great parks, including: 78 79Camperdown Park and Wildlife Centre; 79 80Dudhope with popular skatepark; 81The Factory skatepark is great too; 81 82Balgay with great views and Mills Observatory; 82 83Baxter Park with a grand pavilion; the city centre calm found in 83 84The Howff cemetery; and 84 85Magdalen Green with bandstand is a great space on a sunny day. 85 86Kinshaldy Beach at Tentsmuir is stunning and has to be one of the UK’s best. It’s on route to St Andrews. 86 87The Sidlaw Hills behind Auchterhouse are brilliant for endless walking. 87 88Get a day pass on the Number 73 bus and spend your day visiting a trio of great sandy beaches in Carnoustie, Monifieth and Broughty Ferry – have a pint in the Fisherman’s, an ice-cream in Visocchi’s, explore Barnhill Rock Gardens, Broughty Ferry Castle and take a Pirate Boat to see the dolphins in the Tay Estuary.
