We have had to ad‐ just to our new normal, changing the way we practice law, changing the way we communicate, all the while trying to be productive and stay positive. As always, the MCBA is here to answer any questions, provide information and assistance. Many CLE’s have been offered on issues relating to the practice during the social distancing requirements includ‐ ing technology and the CARES Act, among others. Programs on cyber security and virtual proceedings in criminal matters and civil matters are just a few that are on the calendar. The MCBA website contains a listing of the programs coming up, all the Court notices as well as other important information. It is hard for me to believe that I write this message as my last as President of the MCBA. Except for the last 6 weeks, the year has flown by. I said last year that I was humbled to become the 105th Presi‐ dent of the MCBA and I repeat that state‐ ment today. I am appreciative of the op‐ portunity I had to serve as President. I would be remiss if I did not thank a number of people. The office staff, Jona‐ than Cowles and Elaine Miller, are without equal. They truly help the MCBA realize the outstanding accomplishments we achieve and the services we provide to our profession, the judiciary and the commu‐ nity. In my opinion the MCBA is the pre‐ eminent bar association in the State. I also want to thank the Executive Committee and Trustees for their unwavering support, kind words and guidance throughout the year. We truly work as a team. The MCBA will have the capable guid‐ ance and will be in the good hands of in‐ coming President Eugene Wishnic for the coming year. I wish him much luck. I know that the MCBA will benefit by his guidance, leadership and wisdom. These difficult times serve as a reminder of how appreciative we are for each other and for our relationships at the MCBA. We reach out to each other for advice, to com‐ plain and sometimes just for no reason but to hear a familiar voice. We are really a large family and are not alone in the strug‐ gles we face daily. I invite you to contact the MCBA office or myself with any ques‐ tions, concerns or for that matter, any rea‐ son. The next few months and year will be difficult for us individually as well as the MCBA. The MCBA will survive and the rela‐ tionships we have and commitment to the association will thrive. We will stay dedi‐ cated to our profession and our commu‐ nity. In the coming month and months we will need to evaluate where we can help our profession and our community as a result of the devastating times we have faced. I am confident that we can unite in providing assistance and guidance for our members and the community. Now more than ever we will be called upon to help. We need to answer that call. As I said last month, I look forward to the day when we do not have to social dis‐ tance and when we can appropriately and safely greet each other in person. Thank you for the past year. Stay well. THE MIDDLESEX COUNTY BAR FOUNDATION INVITES YOU TO PARTICIPATE AND SUPPORT OUR FIRST

MIDDLESEX COUNTY COURT HOUSE MINI-LIBRARY PROJECT

Dear Colleagues: Please help us make a success of our Mini-Library Project. The goal is to share with the Middlesex County community at large access to gently used books. We need children’s books for all ages in English, Spanish or any other language that you may have at home - coloring books, story books, chapter books, tweens books, non-fiction books, biography books - any children’s books that you may already have at home which your own children have outgrown or already read. We want to give children that are in the children’s waiting room and that come to super-vised parenting time visitation in the Family courthouse the chance to read with their par-ents, other children, etc. We will need a regular supply of books as we want to offer our community users the opportunity to take books home. We are really looking forward to sharing with our community what we sometimes take for granted. To help: As soon as the current health crisis is over, you will be able to drop off gently used children’s books at the Middlesex County Bar Office located at 87 Bayard Street in New Brunswick or at the Intake Office of the Family Court House, located on the first floor. We will have collection boxes in both locations. We thank you in advance for your assistance and participation!!
