Dear parishioners,
As we celebrate Christmas I’m grateful to all the pa-rishioners and friends of St. John Brebeuf Parish for their generous spirits and selfless giving. Your service to the poor and needy is exemplary! Your love has enabled countless people to experience of little of heaven on earth!
I know you have experienced the grace of God’s friendship through this great parish, but there are many who feel estranged or have drifted away from the church. Perhaps you know someone who feels this way and has been away from St. John Brebeuf Parish for whatever reason. I ask that you pray for them and, if the time is right, ask him or her to take another look. Your kindness and compassion may enable them to seek out the Celebration of the Sacrament of Reconcil-iation, or prompt them to attend one of the Advent or Christmas Masses. Please know that I will pray for you as you try to be God’s gentle and loving servant. With God’s help, you’ll find the right words! Please be patient with yourself and those you wish to touch.
At this my ninth Christmas with you, I’m delighted to be your pastor. I pray that in the New Year we will all continue to follow in the footsteps of Christ and accept the call to give ourselves away for the common good.

Drodzy parafianie, Swiętując Boże Narodzenie, jestem wdzięczny wszystkim parafianom i przyjaciołom parafii św. Jana Brebeuf za ich hojność i bezinteresowne ofiary. Wasza służba biednym i potrzebującym jest wzorowa! Wasza miłość pozwoliła niezliczonym ludziom doświ-adczyć małej cząstki nieba na ziemi! Wiem, że doświadczyliście łaski Bożej przyjaźni dzięki tej wielkiej parafii, ale jest wielu, którzy czują się wyobcowani lub w ogóle oddalili się od Kościoła. Być może znacie kogoś, kto czuje się w ten sposób i był z dala od parafii św. Jana Brebeufa z jakiegokol-wiek powodu. Proszę, abyście się za nich modlili i, jeśli nadejdzie właściwy czas, poproście ich, aby spróbowali jeszcze raz. Wasza dobroć i współczucie mogą umożliwić im odkrycie Sakramentu Pojednania lub zachęcić ich do uczestnictwa we Mszach adwen-towych lub świątecznych. Proszę, wiedzcie, że będę się modlił za was, starając się być łagodnym i kochającym sługą Boga. Z pomocą Boga znajdziecie odpowiednie słowa! Bądźcie cierpliwi wobec siebie i innych. Poraz dziewiąty przeżywając z Wami Świąta Bożego Narodzenia jestem szczęśliwy, że jestem Waszym pro-boszczem. Modlę się, aby w Nowym Roku wszyscy nadal mogli podążać śladami Chrystusa i przyjąć wez-wanie do oddania się dla wspólnego dobra. The Golden Agers' Christmas Party at Lone Tree Manor was on Tuesday, December 10th. Left, Ann Zalak presents Fr. Przemek with a check for the parish from the Golden Agers. Below, lots of fun and good food made for an afternoon of celebration.

The feast day of Sto. Niño in Tondo is celebrated in the third Sunday of January. The fiesta in Tondo has the biggest participation in Manila, in the Philippines, not only because Tondo is the most populous district in the city and poorest but perhaps because of the many tales con-nected with the Sto. Niño of Tondo. According to Philippine Historical Commission, the peo-ples of Tondo celebrated the feast day with a procession that “attracted thousands of visitors.” The parish in Tondo houses the image that was brought to the country by Augustinian priests from Acapulco, Mexico, in the late 1570s.

Final suggestions of how to Keep Christ in Christmas
fourth week: Spend extra time in Church, especially before a Christmas Crib scene. Visit the Infant Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament in a tabernacle or Adoration Chapel. Extend the Christmas observance through the Feast of the Epiphany (Three Kings). Ask and promote others to do any or all of the above.

December 22: Fourth Sunday of Advent In today’s Gospel, we hear that Jesus will
be named Emmanuel, which means “God is with us.” The mystery of the birth of Jesus is supremely a mys-tery of love. May each Christmas find us more and more like him: more humble, more holy, more happy, and more full of God. Your gifts to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul helped those who are poor and suffering to find Emmanuel. Please remember to be generous in our Fifth Sunday collection on December 29th.

Alpha Course Begins Feb. 24, 2020 Do you wonder about the "big" questions -- what is life all about? Why am I here? Does God really love me? If so, the Alpha Course is for you! All are invited to attend the next session of the Alpha Course which will begin again on Mondays from February 24 - May 11, 2020. Each evening begins at 6:30 pm with dinner and conversation. We have a video presentation and discussion, ending by 8:15 pm. There is no charge. Please consider joining us for this wonderful program to meet new people, have fun, eat great food, laugh, and learn about your faith.
