I really enjoyed our meeting Tuesday morning; if only all meetings could be such fun and all due to a Q & A

session and breakfast with the visiting Danish Group Study Exchange Team.

The Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a special Rotary International program which enables a group of

4 young professionals aged 25 to 40, to travel to another country where they can experience the culture and

compare work practices with their own profession. The Team is led by a senior Rotarian, but other members

of the team have no links with Rotary.

Our Club meeting was but one component of the visit for the GSE team, covering six days, which included

the Whispering Wall, the Birdwood Motor Museum, Onkaparinga SES, a feast at the Hahndorf Inn, and

Kayaking with Dolphins and Rotary Youth Driver Awareness.

The Tuesday Vocational Day saw the Team going off in five different directions across the city to attend two

or three placements in the day.

Michael went to the Submarine Corporation & Adelaide University Robotics Research Group.

Bertha went to Christie Walk, Lochiel Park and the Lean Construction Institute.

Mai went to the University and Marden Senior Colleges, and the Lombardia Association with Laura

Dall’Acqua.

Gitte went to the Valuation Clearing House, Mortgage Broker and NLP discussions with Noel Speck.

Egon went to Flinders Stroke Centre where he was called in to assist with an emergency stroke admission

and assessment.

Monday evening the Club conducted the Teams Group 7 Presentation and on Wednesday the Club members

catered for the District 9520’s Farewell Presentation. Both these events were outstanding successes and we

received favourable comments from other Clubs and the District leaders.

Tuesday and Thursday evenings were purely for socialising. Group 7 younger Rotarians took the Team to

the Tap Inn at Kent Town and the indoor golf range and Egon joined a physician’s night-out arranged by

President Brian Wall of the Burnside Club.

After adjusting team members luggage to accommodate all the purchases over the past month, at the

airport the Team flew out of Adelaide for a convoluted route home on Friday morning.

The Danish GSE visit was a great success with most members engaging with the fellowship and fun of the

GSE experience. Further the Club met the requirements of hosting a Team exceptionally well and the work

load was shared across our Club.

Regards Ian

Despite my previous advice that it is difficult to divide a $10 prize between 3 people, Round 6 saw 3

tippers get all 9 games correct with just a 2 point margin. So congratulations and $3.33 (or

thereabouts) will be going to Rita S, Pauline Hand Tegan W.

Just outside this winners circle was Libby D and Mark M who can still print off a Hungry Jacks

voucher for picking 9 winners.

Commiserations to John K who probably regrets not having more faith in the Crows. No such

sympathy for Greg S who had a zero point margin from the Friday night game, is a Crows supporter,

was at the game in Sydney – and didn’t tip the Crows!

OK - A NEW RULE

NO MORE SHARING PRIZES

This week’s prize goes to the top stand-alone tipper. If someone copies your tips and ends up with

the same score and point difference, you won’t win a cent.

Please aim to be unique this week. Good Luck!

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of a worthy enterprise and in particular to encourage and foster

The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by every Rotarian of their occupation as an opportunity to serve

society.

The application of the ideal service by every Rotarian to their personal, business and community life.

The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional people united in the ideal of service.

The Four Way Test of the things we think, say or do:

Is it the truth? Is it Fair to all concerned?

Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

For good food, good fellowship And the opportunity to serve through Rotary

…we give thanks.
