SACRAMENT OF FORGIVENESS
(Penance, Reconciliation, Confession) Saturday from 4:00pm-4:30pm
Or at any other time By Appointment
BLESSED SACRAMENT CHAPEL
ALWAYS OPEN FOR PRAYER & ADORATION
On Thursday, Gov. Stitt and Attorney General Mike Hunter
announced the state had gained access to the three drugs
necessary to resume executions in Oklahoma. They must
request dates from the court and won't schedule the first
one for at least 150 days. Archbishop Coakley, on behalf of
the Catholic Conference of Oklahoma released the following
Statement in the wake of this announcement.
“We need to stop spending taxpayer money to kill human
beings. We deserve justice for these heinous crimes, but
we don't end the cycle of violence by committing more
violence. In all of these cases, we lost a life, and the death
penalty only serves to further devalue human dignity. We
have the capability now to punish criminals and protect
society without killing in return. I call on our legislators and
Gov. Stitt to make a change for Oklahoma and choose
non-lethal ways to ensure justice.”
Archbishop Coakley detailed the many problems with
Justification for the death penalty:
For every 10 inmates executed on death row in the United
States since 1976, one inmate has been exonerated
•
The taxpayer cost of incarceration for death row inmates
Is more than twice that of inmates with life sentences
•
• Multiple studies have shown that use of the death penalty
• offers no deterrent against capital crimes
•
• Families of victims routinely testify that executing the
• convicted offers little consolation for their pain and loss.
What’s more, a recent landmark survey of Oklahoma voters
showed that when presented with a choice between the
death penalty and a life sentence for those convicted of
murder, a majority of voters opposed the death penalty.
For these reasons, the Catholic Conference of Oklahoma
has offered overwhelming support for Rep. Jason
Dunnington’s House Bill 2876 which proposes to follow the
lead of more than 20 states by repealing the death penalty.
There are many Catholics who take issue with including
opposition to Capital Punishment as a pro-life issue. But every Pope since St. John Paul II has urged the faithful to defend the dignity of every human life from womb to tomb. Jesus gave us many hard teachings so we should not be caught off guard.
BE PRO-LIFE
END THE CYCLE OF
VIOLENCE

SACRIFICIAL GIVING
What kind of giving is considered sacrificial? It’s the kind
that families do daily when it comes to taking good care
of each other. It often involves some pain or self-denial.
It’s not that different when it comes to our parish family. We take good care of each other by contributing our fair
share to fund the missionary and operational expenses
of the church. We give not from what is left over, but from
all that we have. We give out of gratitude more than
obligation. Have you reviewed your sacrificial giving
recently? Might it be time to do so?

LIFE NITES
WEDNESDAYS AT 7PM
Our Youth Building is open on most Wednesdays from 7-9pm for High Schoolers and Middle Schoolers. Free food and snacks are available along with games. There are separate gathering areas for older and younger kids. Each week there is an opportunity for prayer in St. Francis Chapel. Practice for Living Stations will be conducted every week and is already underway. This is a great opportunity for our youth to take part in a devotion that inspires the participation of so many parishioners during Lent.
We Also Need Safe Environment Certified
Chaperones (Especially Women) For Life Nites.
____________________________________________
A $50 deposit for all who have signed up is due now. This includes even those who will receive scholarships or reduced rates. It looks like we will have as many as 30 youth going this year! This is EXCITING!
Contact Mike Jaques, Lynn Yingling, Ann Grover or Tommie Tran for more information.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING Sunday, March 1st at 10:30 am
in the McConnell room
Do you have a child attending discipleship formation classes? Do you use the nursery? Do you want to be able to work with the youth of our parish? We are always looking for parents or other volunteers who can help with classes, lead small groups with the youth, chaperone youth events or volunteer in the nursery. Recently, we’ve had to cancel some of our youth nights because of a lack of certified and willing adults. A principal requirement for any of these services is certification through the safe environment program. The training is short and to the point. Hope you can participate. Childcare will be available. Please contact Ann Grover to register or for more information.
