Conference Programme Gijón – Spain 12-14 May 2015
6th IOMAC INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONAL MODAL ANALYSIS CONFERENCE
6th International Operational Modal Analysis Conference
1
Welcome to IOMAC 2015 Welcome to the 6th International Operational Modal Analysis Conference, Gijón, Spain, May
12‐14, 2015.
The Conference is jointly organised by the University of Oviedo and the Technical University
of Madrid, with the assistance of the L’Aquila University. For the first time, the IOMAC
Conference is running for three days from Tuesday to Thursday, whereas the Pre‐Conference
lasts two days from Sunday to Monday.
The 6th edition of IOMAC is dedicated, in memoriam, to Prof. Francesco Benedettini who
passed away in February 2015. He was an active member of the IOMAC Scientific Committee
and served as a chair of the conference in 2009 and as the chair of the Permanent
Committee since May 2013. The IOMAC community had the pleasure and honor to work
with Prof. Francesco Benedettini and all of us are very grateful for the important
contributions to IOMAC that he made over the years.
Nowadays, Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) is a clear alternative to traditional modal
analysis in structural dynamics. In the last years OMA has experienced an enormous progress
from which many reliable techniques have emerged for solving all kind of problems in the
real world. This is confirmed by the substantial number of papers published in journals and
Conferences but also by the first OMA books including theory and practice related to OMA.
This Conference covers all major aspects of Operational Modal Analysis, with focus on the
following topics: Identification Techniques, Measurement Techniques, Applications in Civil
Structures, Applications in Mechanical Structures, Comparison with Traditional Modal
Analysis, Model Validation and Model Updating, Structural Modification, Structural Health
Monitoring and Wind Turbines.
Beyond a good number of interesting papers on these topics, presented by researchers,
technical specialists and students, the Conference comprehends an Honorary Lecture by
Dr. Håvard Vold and two Keynote Lectures by Dr. Dmitri Tcherniak and Professor Rune
Brincker, three prestigious members of the OMA community.
As the previous IOMAC Conferences, held in Copenhagen (2005 and 2007), Ancona (2009),
Istambul (2011) and Guimaraes (2013), scientists, applicants, vendors and students have the
occasion to share their knowledge in this rather fascinating field and to improve their
specific skills.
We warmly thank all the contributors, authors, speakers and exhibitors and sponsors of the
event and wish this conference offering you fruitful discussion and a pleasant time in Gijón.

Notes for chairs and speakers
• The IOMAC conference will be running on a tight schedule and your cooperation in
making sure the sessions follow to the designated time limit is much appreciated.
• Each Speaker is allowed a total of 20 minutes: 12‐15 minutes for Oral Presentation +
5‐8 minutes for short Questions and Answers (Q&A).
• Speakers will be alerted as they approach their presentation time limit (i.e. with a 2‐
minutes warning). We suggest all Speakers to prepare a presentation with about one
slide per minute (maximum of about 15‐20 slides).
• The short CV (submitted together with the paper) will be used by the Chair to
introduce the Speaker before the presentation.
• A computer with projector equipment will be available at each conference room. The
computers are equipped with USB ports. Authors must bring their presentation on a
USB memory key (flash drive) to the room where their presentation is being given to
preload it on the presentation laptop. Authors are free to use their own laptop for
their presentation, but must ensure compatibility with the LCD projector prior to the
start of their session. The computers will be running Windows 7/8 with MS Office
2013 and the latest version of Acrobat Reader. For presentations we advise to use
power‐point or pdf slides.
• 10 min before the beginning of each session, each Speaker should introduce himself
to the Chair of the Session.
• Once again, we kindly ask your cooperation for the success of IOMAC 2015
Conference.

Structural Vibration Solutions A/S is the developer of ARTeMIS Modal software. The
patented operational modal analysis software is for the vast number of cases where it is
preferred not to control or measure the loading. If you can measure the vibrations, ARTeMIS
Modal can give you the modes in terms of mode shape, natural frequency and damping
ratio. We will present latest features in the upcoming ARTeMIS Modal Pro 4.0: Harmonics
Removal Tool, Modal Parameter History with automatic mode tracking, Damage Detection,
Drift Analysis, and the brand new 3D Data View.
