GLEN WHRITENOUR GOES BACK TO BACK INWOODHULL RACEWAY 360 LM THRILLER.Remainder of show lost to Mother Nature.With rain in the forecast it was full speed ahead last Saturday nightat the Woodhull Raceway as the biggest race of the night was anattempt to get the show into the record books. With all the

qualifying heat events run off at a record pace the NAPA 360 LateModel feature was called to the line with sprinkles starting to fall onthe speedway. With 20 of the best 360 LM drivers in the regiontaking the opening green flag it was Jeremy Wonderling setting theearly pace. Steve Watson would keep Wonderling within strikingdistance as Brian Knowles and Glen W hritenour moved towardsthe front of the field. With only a few quick cautions for minorspins to slow the event it was Wonderling setting a blistering paceas Knowles and Whritenour would challenge the race leader withthe laps winding down. One final yellow on lap 24 for a frontstraight tangle between Greg Galligan and Steve Hartman Jr. wouldset up a green/checkered finish and what an exciting one lap shootout it would turn out to be as Brian Knowles put a beautiful insidemove on race leader Glen Whritenour with Wonderling closebehind. As the three entered the final set of turns Knowles wouldinch ahead of Whritenour on the inside, but Glen had themomentum on the rim and held on for a three foot victory overKnowles with Wonderling one car length back. For the secondconsecutive week it was late race heroics that would find GlenWhritenour hitting pay dirt on the high banked one third of a mileclay oval in what many fans are calling some of the best racing inyears at the historic Steuben County oval. Steve Watson, the 2009360 LM Rookie of the Year would hold on for fourth at the finishfollowed by Dan Gardner who put on a steady drive to round outthe top five. Six thru ten were John Waters, Tony Foth, MickSeeley, Jay McConnell and Bryce Davis.Heat wins went to Brian Knowles and Greg Galligan.With the rain intensifying the Crate Sportsman were summoned tothe track along with several packer vehicles to try and keep thesurface raceable, however it was not meant to be and after an hourof trying track owner, Ted White was forced to throw in the towel.

The S&W Awards and Photos Crate Sportsman will run their make-up feature on Saturday, May 1 along with the 30 lap Signs PlusMini Stock Special event. The Morgans Auto Repair Street Stocksalong with the LaBarron Brothers Repair and Parts Front WheelDrive Class will make-up their rained out feature events on May 8.Also, May 1 will mark the return of the Insinger Performance 358Modified Division as they Mod Squad will make their first

appearance of the 2010 season.Gates for the May 1 event open at 4:30 with racing at 6:30 pm withMachuga Contractors of Bath on board as the nightly eventsponsor. Wol-fanger, 81, formerly of MadisonAvenue, went tobe with her Lordon Monday (April 26, 2010) atthe Hornell Gardens.Born in North Hornell, June 28,1928, the daughter of John andBertha Chriscaden Stephens, shehadresidedin Swain fornearly 20years prior to returning to Hornell

in 1976. She received her nursesaide training from St. JamesMercy Hospital andworked at theformer Mullen Nursing Home inCanisteo. She was later employedon thecafeteria staff at St.James.She was a member of the HornellCorp of the Salvation Army aswell as the League of Mercy andthe Home League at the Corp.She wasthe organist forthe Corpfor several years.She was predeceased by her par-

ents, two sons, John anWolfanger, and her brotherald Stephens.She is survived by her husLeon Wolfanger, whom sheried March 18, 1951; daughters, Sarah (Randy) Spof Dalton, Ada (Allen) Donof Caledonia, and FlorenceHornell; two sons, Leon (ShWolfanger of Red Creek, an(Lynn Stoddard) Wolfangermond; her sister-in-law, HZbech of Sinclairville; sgrand and great-grandchild
