Material Description
The Difference is in the Materials: Onyx is Tougher, Stiffer, more Heat Tolerant and Stable than Other 3D Printing Plastics
Markforged Materials: Continuous Fiber for Strength
Metal
ADAM: Atomic Diffusion Additive Manufacturing
The binder is removed and parts are sintered into pure metal (this is a well established process)
Metal contained in a binder material is printed layer by layer to create the part
Here are the parts
Complex Internal Geometry
Metal X• Launching with high-end stainless steels 17-4, 303
• Beta materials • Tool steel A-2, D-2, M-2• Aluminum 6061, 7075• Titanium 6AL 4V
• Big build volume (around 250x220x200)
• In-process inspection (laser) for dimensional accuracy
• First Metal 3d printer to break the $100K price barrier
• Manageable feed-stock
• Shipping in Q3 2017 (accepting customer pre-orders)

Customer Story: Media Blackout
Cost and time:
“Since we do a lot of low volume or one-off jobs, 3D printing is a great way to do that cost effectively...with 3D printing, it's easy to design something in CAD and go directly from CAD to prototyping and to finished product...”
- Alan Rencher, Founder Media Blackout

Customer Story: Charles Guan
Cost and time:
“I think that one of the reasons it survives is that the nylon is very flexible. It takes quite a lot of shock. If I steer very hard, the whole bracket moves a little bit. I am deforming it right now with about 40 pounds of force and the assembly takes it.”
- Charles Guan, MIT Instructor
