However, languages often use different patterns of organization. In English, sentences are ordered this way: SVO Most languages are either SVO or SOV, but others follow a VSO pattern. • Linking– She is an engineer.– She was also a saxophone player.

• Helping– I should have known not to trust

you!– The trains will be arriving shortly.

3 uses of verbs• Depending of the purpose of your

verb, you may have a traditional object, or you might have an object that is a description. Sometimes, you won’t have an object at all.
