Ready for school projectStarting in May 2017, jointly with Pembury Children’s Community, Linden has employed an Early Years Teacher to launch a new ‘Ready for School’ project. This teacher is working with children who live on the Pembury Estate who are starting Reception at Mossbourne Parkside Academy, to ensure they make the best possible start to school life. The project includes workshops for parents on how to support their child in school; in-school group work and home-tutoring; special events and trips including a summer coach trip to Brighton. We hope that this pilot project will promote excellent practice for the transition into school and will spread to other parts of Hackney and beyond.
Linden and Comberton Nursery GraduationJuly 2017, we celebrated the achievement of many of our children, who have reached a great milestone in their young lives. Most of the children have been with us from an early age. It has been wonderful to see how they have all grown up. The staff at Linden and Comberton would like to wish all the children and their families an amazing new journey and every happiness.
Thank you all for being part of the Linden and Comberton family, congratulations to you all.
Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities Parent ProgrammeWe ran the above 13 week parenting programme from 19 April – 19 July 2017. Thirteen parents attended and thirteen graduated on 24 July 2017. Well done and congratulations to all the families.
Linden Sports DayOn 13 July 2017, Linden held a Sports Day on Hackney Downs for all our families. With fine weather and lots of families attending a good time was had by all! We had face painting, storytelling, Forest School activities, a craft table making hats and of course the obligatory races – not just for the children, but parents, carers and staff also putting in impressive performances! Thanks to everyone who helped and attended, we will do the same again next summer!
Hackney Down’s Syndrome GroupThis new group is led by parents. We want to build a supportive community around children in the borough with Down’s Syndrome. Come along so parents and children (including siblings) can get to know each other, share ideas and experiences and meet professionals who work with our children.
For further information please contact Sophie on 07968 088792 or Claire Napier [email protected]
