Manifesto:I firmly believe in creating a cam-pus where student rights and in-terest become the key principles and priority of the SRC. I seek to find solutions to problems voiced by you the student community and pledge to make this portfolio to be the voice of the voiceless students. If elected I will ensure service delivery on the following:Promote the Constitution, UFS Constitution and all its objectives.Campaign for student rights awareness between students and administrators. Informing stu-dents of the legality of any ad-ministration process. Investigat-ing and scrutinising student life through regular engagements to address housing and residence af-fairs and safety affairs. There comes a time where silence is betrayal’ by Martin Luther King. The time is now speak out and be heard!

LLB (3rd year)

Manifesto:As a passionate member of the UFS community, I am commit-ted to the idea of an SRC that represents the students’ voice and more importantly, delivers on its promises.I do not intended on using this opportunity to list my achieve-ments but rather on what I have to offer to the student population and how I plan on doing so.The values that I plan to purport whilst in office rest on these three pillars: Equality, Dignity and Freedom to all students. These will form the bedrock of every decision that I make in helping to advance the students’ interest in my official capacity. As a team player, I am deter-mined to work retrospectively to-wards improving the foundation that has already been laid by the previous Legal and Constitution-al Affairs office, while prospec-tively working hand in hand with the new official incumbents.

Manifesto: If elected to the SRC I would work to ensure that the UFS most vulnerable students, the First Generation Students, feel repre-sented, supported and equipped to face the challenges they will come up against in their years of studying. Giving them opportuni-ties to grow and develop as lead-ers and academically, thus provid-ing them with a solid foundation so that they are able to leave our university equipped for future success. My vision is to make this office an efficient, well-resourced and informed office that is open, approachable and inclusive to all students who might need its help.

Manifesto:MISSION: Assist students with contractual issues especially with regards to off-campus students.Have programs which can edu-cate the students about their legal rights and possible remedies they can use to implement those rights and increase student participation in these programs. Together with other associations in the institu-tion we can help those who can’t voice their opinions. We aim on making sure that our students mostly off-campus students don’t get sucked into contractual agree-ments just because they are des-perate for accommodation.VISION: Equip the student com-munity with legal knowledge which will prevent them from falling into contractual agree-ments which they cannot honour.

LLB (2nd year)

Manifesto: My vision is for us to become a generation of legally informed and responsible students. We must accept our different cul-tures and backgrounds, but more importantly celebrate the dreams we have for the future of our uni-versity, and our country. My main goal is to teach students “legal life skills” e.g. General contract and labour law necessary to survive in the working world. I would like to be the link and communi-cate to students the structures in place designed especially for the problems they face. Continuing the engagement forums with off-campus service providers, to pro-tect vulnerable students.

B.A Media Studies and Jour-nalism (3rd year)

ManifestoI stand to be a mediator for stu-dent interests in governance structures. If I would be elected I would pursue the following objectives. Transparency, hav-ing an open-door policy in which students will have the ability to come and speak to me on matter concerning their varied interests. Quarterly reports to be made available for students, SRC’s ob-jectives and deadlines to be made known to the student body, which will help facilitate accountability. Different forms of communica-tion to increase participation. The use of social media, e-mails, blackboard, associations, RCs to distribute quarterly minutes, and sms’s, tweets to notify students to check their e-mails.

B.Soc.Sc Human and Societal Dynamics (2nd year)

ManifestoMy vision lies in vastly improv-ing the lives of my fellow stu-dents and colleagues. If elected, I will represent my fellow stu-dents by ensuring that meetings such as the council meetings, executive meetings and meetings with the dean, only to mention a few, are of utmost productivity. Bearing in mind that the office of the secretary is not an office for many external projects, one of my goals is to ensure that the SRC consultation desk is of ex-treme efficiency, as the voices of the students invariably need to be heard. Emotional stability is also crucial, and that is where my ulti-mate goal lies.

B.Com Accounting (3rd year)

Manifesto:•Push agenda of the students for-ward, less committee meetings and engage more with student body. Maintain effective internal communication and transpar-ency within the SRC. Ensure that meetings and other consulta-tions are recorded properly and constantly updated. Engage in truth with management in ensur-ing that students’ needs are ad-dressed. Promote leadership that is grounded in service and over-see accountability. Draw up year plan for the SRC activities and distribute it to students. Compile mid-term reports on overall work of the SRC. Ensure that portfolios have the necessary resources and support to achieve their goals. Work on ‘Kovsie Fund’ for finan-cially needy students.

“Building a foundation for the first generation.”

“The Voice of the Voiceless.”“Vote Small for Big Change.”

“Vote for Nothando Hlophe, for communication that inspires change!”

“Be the change you want to witness, it all begins with you.”

“With the students - For the students.”

Manifesto:I believe that this portfolio can be used as a vehicle to achieve many things. Amongst others:Clarity with regards to the chan-nels that students must follow to aid their issues, especially within their respective faculties. The al-ready-existing modes of engage-ment need to be clarified to us, as students. If found to be non-effec-tive, I plan to advocate for their amendment.I plan to advocate for a more comprehensive advising desk that considers more than just your marks in advising which course will be suitable for you. This en-tails the taking of psychometric tests in the determination of a suitable course.

If elected as President of the SRC, Transformation will be my priority. A United Democratic Leadership is the solution to campus transformational issues. The qwaqwa campus has seen a great lack of collective leader-ship within student leaders and student organisation which seek to advance the agenda of the stu-dents. But mostly We as campus need a active student life both academically and socially, like the resident life which needs a reconstruction so that it advances the instruments of Res value sys-tem and Res culture, which is not there!

3rd year B. Ed Languages (SASCO)

SRC is a platform for advancing transformation and addressing daily student’s grievances, and I as the presidential candidate intend to strive to transform this campus, through inclusive ap-proach that is non-sexist, non-racial but a democratic student community that acknowledges diversity and difference. I believe that in student centralism, there-fore nothing about us without us (I condemn any decisions that are taken and imposed to students without their input). The struggle for Free Education won’t come to an end.

4th year Bsc. Environmental Geography (SADESMO)

If re-elected under the banner of SADESMO, I will use my well gained experience as SRC Depu-ty President 2014/2015 to support and empower 2015/2016 SRC for the mission at hand which is to always prioritise students’ needs at all times. As an African women in leadership who has a mission to strive for equality, one principal that has been enshrined within the University is academic excellence and as deputy-Presi-dent for 2015/2016 I look to limit academic limitation/challenges within the University with stu-dents voices behind me with the idea of being committed to voic-ing students problems.

3rd year B.Ed Foundation Phase (EFFSC)

I will ensure that students voices are heard and students needs will be my first and only priority in or-der to excel academically among other things. I will create a trans-parency policy between students and the management because I feel that students should have a part in their learning.

3rd year B.Ed Foundation Phase (EFFSC)

It will be my role to promote a multicultural environment through programs of social ad-aptations and expressions from the student community. I will be a pedestal of students so they strive towards their goals through progressive communication ef-fectively. We need to have our own YouTube channel, commu-nity radio, and a local newspaper which will serve as perimeters of effective communication and acknowledgement. I will initiate a UniQwa fund account that will be projected towards the under-privileged, student development, sports and arts and culture.

3rd year B.Ed. Pre-School and Foundation Phase (NASMO)

It is an honour to be elected by NASMO as the deputy president candidate of the SRC. I assure students that we are up for the challenges. I wish to re-establish the following in the SRC: Trans-parency and accountability in the SRC office and student populace. Commit myself towards working with other members of the SRC to ensure students a conducive learning environment in all fac-ulties within our campus. Protect any kind of discrimination, finan-cial and academic exclusion.Putting the voice of the students first as I would be representing them.

“I chose to put student first and make sure that all their needs are catered for.”

“The Diamond Standard.”

3rd year B. A General (EFFSC)

The main responsibility of the secretary is to be responsible for the administrative functions of the SRC. Given the opportunity to be secretary of the SRC, I will document all minutes of the SRC to ensure that we know our pro-gress in terms of our year plan,in addition to making students aware of that of information that concerns them within 7 days af-ter having meeting as the SRC as stipulated by constitution. In collaboration with the portfolio heads I will ensure that students especially those who are part of student structures know about meetings and programs that are planned by the office bearers to promote equality, social cohesion more importantly transparency within the SRC.

“I am your president, I choose to be innovative.”

“Leadership decision should always be made at lowest pos-sible level.”

“Nothing about us without us.” “Empowering women in lead-ership.”

“RISE NASMO RISE.”

2nd year B.Com General Man-agement (EFFSC)

If elected as General Secretary I will ensure that there’s practice of transparency and a mutual re-lationship built between students and their SRC. I will also ensure that there’s regular updating to the students from the SRC about all matters which affect them. As a leader, I believe it is my duty to ensure there’s various open com-munication tools between whom I’m leading and myself. If I’m elected, I promise to serve the stu-dents with high expertise, trans-forming their disappointments to great achievements.

4th year B. A Psychology (SAD-ESMO)

I will commit to the student body as an engine of the governance structure on campus making sure that I act as a communica-tion channel between the SRC, Student parliaments, Manage-ment and importantly the student populate. But most importantly I will always be present in all SRC meeting to document everything. The very mandate and vision of the SRC speaks of it being a body founder by student. If I’m elected in my term of office I will compassionately find solution that benefit student body moreo-ver my job would be and keep important documents.

2nd year B.A Industrial Psy-chology (SADESMO)

Leaders are supposed to be in the direction of work to live to live to work so that in deduction the subjects that impede on the stu-dents conditions or academic period will be changed for the better. Hence the main aim is im-proving the underprivileged con-ditions for students. On the other hand, the crucial part is if I were to be elected as Treasurer General I will do what I say and not say what I will do and this is being specific to decreasing the number of students that are being affected by financial matters and their aca-demic problems.

4th year B.A Psychology (NAS-MO)

If I am elected as the Treasurer general of the Student Repre-sentative Council of Qwaqwa campus I will: exercise control over the implementation of the annual budget and adjustments. Enforce financial transparency in the institution I will also provide guidance to the school on budget limits, identify and determine the overall spending level. Ensure that the funds of the University and its members are managed efficiently. Work closely to the committee supporting when and where I’m needed and also bring new ideas relevant to organizing events.

B.Com General Management (SASCO)

ManifestoAs a SASCO candidate my mani-festo is dedicated to strive to work for educational, moral and cultural upliftment of students, without any intention of making profit and to also work around in trying to make sure that a large number of our students are able to register each year, so that they can be part of the University of the Free-State’s educational sys-tem.

B.A (EFFSC)

ManifestoI Sabelo Vilakazi I would like to ensure that in my structure EFF-SC under the SRC every transaction that will take place is transparent to students as well to my fellow members, and also if I can a get this position of being a Treasurer general I will provide a good financial health by produc-ing detailed financial statements and coordinating investment de-cisions. I also promise to work in tandem with other members executives in order to create and meet the quarter-to-quarter budg-etary benchmarks as instructed by the chief executive officer or the President.

2nd Year B.Ed (SADESMO)

ManifestoIt has been my passion to con-tribute to the welfare of students in our University; I wish to take my contributions to the next level where I plan to make the students unions more student-centre, open and closer to every student irre-spective of race, gender, religion, political structure and/or belief. I plan to make the campus a hub of ideas where students will be free to contribute their opinions as with regards to what happens inside and outside of the campus. Students often face problems with respect to their timetables and other courses related issues which need to be dealt with swift-ly, efficiently and effectively. With regards to this portfolio, one would create platform that would allow all student and student leaders to engage on issues that affect the general student.

3rd year B. Ed Foundation Phase (SASCO)

ManifestoIn attempt to create a democratic society, institutions of higher learning should offer platforms for students to partake in political activism. The new agenda is dif-ferent from that of the 1976 youth and the political structures on our campuses should reflect a new era of student politics. Politics play a vital role in today’s democratic society. Through political activ-ism we can achieve transforma-tion. We cannot force individuals to transform, we can rather create spaces where transformation dia-logues can take place since it is evident that we have a very active political community on this cam-pus, we should strive to disinte-grate political structures and de-tach the ethnical face they have.

B.Ed (NASMO)

ManifestoIf elected as politics and trans-formation, it will be my ideal to address the political concerns to the student structures and the in-dividuals. The problems that af-fect everyone will be addressed accordingly by working hand in hand with all the structures and students. This campus will never transform if the politics within the campus has not been addressed. We need to put such in action to transform our campus: Activate the student parliament. Include all structures and lead-ers of representatives within the community. Find a way to make student understand about the stu-dent parliament so it could be more effective.

3rd year B. Ed (SADESMO)

ManifestoIf elected as SDO I will organize activities and events such as de-bates about things that matter in-cluding the environment, poetry sessions, drama , book clubs etc.I will also organize motivational talks and outreach programs.Create programs like CCDU( Counselling and Careers Devel-opment Units) I will empower students to set up new societies and projects. I will introduce job training workshops to help grad-uates gain employment, Confi-dence Workshops, Develop CV and skills. Other opportunities such as Volunteering. Get people involved in environmental affairs and in societies like the Green Campus initiative.I will create workshops to edu-cate people more about the envi-ronment.

2nd year B.A Political Science (SASCO)

ManifestoI believe for students to excel academically, the must be de-velopments to evolve the envi-ronment in which they dwell in. As a leader that is willing to the serve all the students the aim is to advance the development of the students. However, I cannot falsify students and utter things that I know very well are impen-etrable. As Student Development and Environmental Affairs, my main aim is to touch, inspire and advance each and every student’s life through great development programs. When talking about change, I mean change that stu-dents want to see, ensuring that students remain central, chal-lenging obstacles that students encounter in our higher learning institution and lastly making their academic life improve for the bet-ter.“I am the change that students want to see.”

B.Ed (EFFSC)

ManifestoIf elected for the Student De-velopment and Environmental affairs portfolio I would ensure that the relationship of the entire student community actively participate in conserving the environment that they they are a part of and ensuring long last-ing quality of the beauty of the campus that surrounds them. I would ensure that all student obtain the privilege of having a sense of ownership of part of the surroundings that they are a part of, and while doing so, obtain the necessary skills that will make them responsible adults who look after the surrounding that they are a part of. Ensuring the green-est campus of them all!!!

3rd year B. A (SASCO)

ManifestoIf elected as Media and Publicity officer I will ensure that I become a central messenger between the management and students.Throwing lot of events on our campus to bring sense of togeth-erness among students to also re-duce tribalism that we cannot shy away that it exist. The events will also be used as funding strategy for helping students facing de-registration. Make assurance that we have our own Radio station and have our own newspaper pub-lished weekly, autonomous from Bloemfontein campus. Make as-surance that our Off-Campus stu-dents have at least security officer in their respective colleges.

2nd year B.Ed FET Phase (SADESMO)

ManifestoIf elected as the Media and Pub-licity, my duty is to make sure that all students are informed with issues concerned with both the student and SRC. Therefore I would act as a bridge of infor-mation between the SRC and the students. One major problem that I have noted is that, the SRC loses a lot of money with regards to sound system, hence a lot of money goes out to pay for sound sys-tem that the SRC hires when the is an event. If elected, I will use the SRC funds to buy the sound system that will not only help the SRC, but will also used by the different structures for free through the relevant bookings to SRC.

B.Sc Information Technology: management (EFFSC)

There is not enough relevant in-formation about the Qwaqwa campus on the University of the Free State website. Elected as the media and publicity in the SRC I will ensure that the University of the Free State Qwaqwa cam-pus has its own Qwaqwa campus section on the university website that will be displaying all the information about our campus from our academics to Qwaqwa campus student life and for none students who interested to study in our campus to know what to expect in The university of the free state Qwaqwa campus. I will also ensure a strong relation-ship between our campus and the Qwaqwa local newspaper compa-ny and community radio station such as Qwaqwa Radio.

B.A(NASMO)

If elected as media and publicity I will seek the right information which would help the students, in terms of bursaries, employments, events around the campus It would be also a great pleasure to include media when events of academics, sports or entertain-ments to promote the brand of the university of the Free State Lastly we think that media and publicity should play a major role in advertising how the com-munity could help the student populace in bringing bursaries employment and fund raising ideas I ask all students to vote for me as I am dedicated to help the students with all the leadership qualities we have as NASMO.

“I am your candidate, because I chose to stand up.”

“VOTE BONGIWE for Media and Publicity Officer and see change!!!”

“I do what I say and not say what I will do.”

“I am the game changer.”

“RISE NASMO RISE!!!”
