T-Shirt Sizing For programs that include a t-shirt, please list the desired size on your registration form. Typical sizes are listed below:

Registration Information Registrations must include a completed and signed waiver form with full payment. Online: Register on our website at www.cityofkaukauna.com! (See Page 4 for instructions!) In -Person: Visit our office or drop your registration form with payment in the 24-hour drop box located in the lobby. By Mail: Mail completed forms with payment to: KRD PO Box 890 Kaukauna, WI 54130-0890 By Telephone: Using a credit/debit card. A waiver form will be e-mailed or faxed. It must be signed and returned before

registration is complete.

Payment Methods We accept cash, check, money order, chamber bucks, or credit/debit cards. We accept MasterCard, Visa or Discover.

Registration Confirmation Policy Due to the high volume of registrations, we do not send out confirmations of registrations. We will only contact you in the case of a problem (cancellation, payment inaccuracy, program is full, etc.). You are welcome to call to confirm your registration.

Throughout this Program Guide, you will see the symbols which are defined in the table below. Use this key to help you determine your registration needs.

ONLINE REGISTRATION

Online Registration You can register for your Kaukauna Recreation Department (KRD) sponsored programs online! It is not difficult, but below are some instructions that you can follow to make the process as easy as possible. If you need assistance, please call the KRD office at 766-6335 during office hours. Online Registration Instructions (Everyone Start Here!) 1. Visit our website at www.cityofkaukauna.com 2. Navigate to the Recreation Department page by choosing “Kaukauna Recreation Department” from the “Departments”

dropdown list or just click on the green square with the Softball icon that says “Rec Dept”. 3. Click the “Online Registration” Quick Link in the middle of the page or in the navigation menu at the left. (This takes you off

the City’s website to our registration website.) 4. Choose the next set of instructions below that best fits your current status. I have registered for programs at KRD before, but never online: 1. Click the “Account” or “Login” link at top right. 2. Enter the email address KRD has on account for you. (If you have not previously supplied an email address jump to the “I have

never registered before” section below.) 3. Click the “I forgot or don’t know my password” link, and “submit” 4. A temporary password will be emailed to you. (You will be required to change this password when you login for the first time.) 5. Jump to “I have registered online before” instructions and use your new temporary password to login. I have registered online before: 1. Click the “Account” or “Login” link at top right. 2. Enter the email address KRD has on account for you. 3. Enter your password, and click submit. 4. You should now see “Welcome [YOUR NAME]” at the top of the screen. 5. You can now update account information and choose a family member on the “Account” tab, register the family member under

the “Register” tab, see program details under the “Activity Info” tab or complete your transaction(s) under the “Cart” tab. I have never registered before: 1. The registration software defaults everyone to “Non-Resident,” “Non-Member” status when a new account is established

online! If you are a City Resident or School District Resident, you will need to contact the Recreation Department Office (766-6335) to have this status adjusted before “Resident” or “Member” status options will be available to you.

Lions & Lioness Financial Assistance Programs

The City of Kaukauna believes that all citizens should have the opportunity to participate in Recreation Department programs regardless of financial status. We have partnered with the Lions and Lioness Clubs to offer financial assistance to those in need. Eligibility This program is for children ages 16 & under, whose primary residence is in the City of Kaukauna. Household income must be below this year’s Department of Health and Human Services Poverty Guideline for the number of family members in the household. The guidelines can be found on the HHS website at: http://www.hhs.gov. Eligibility is determined on a case-by-case basis. Limitations A limited amount of donated funds are available each year. Assistance is limited to $25.00/individual and or $25.00/family. During spring and summer an additional $25.00 may be awarded for a pool pass only. Application Applications must be submitted to the Recreation Department Office at least two weeks prior to the program deadline or program start whichever comes earlier.

Facility Rentals Reservations for the open-air park shelters listed below are accepted, on a first-come; first-served basis, beginning on the first regular business day of the year. All rental fees and signed Facility Registration Statement of Agreement form are due at the time of reservation and are required for any reservation to be firm.

Lil Mad Kat Summer Art Camp: Wild West! Come enjoy our Wild West theme at this year's art camp! We will be learning about new techniques in painting while focusing on fun subject matters like cacti, cowboys/girls, and just have a rootin’ tootin’ good ole time! We will work on color blending, tinting and shading, using a variety of brushing techniques and so much more! So whether our campers are aspiring to be the next Van Gogh or just looking to explore their creative side, everyone is sure to go home with multiple painting masterpieces that are uniquely theirs. Camp will emphasize painting techniques with acrylic paints and use stretched canvases. Please come dressed ready to paint! (Class fees include all materials.) Beginner students are welcome!

Zumba Kids and Zumba Kids Jr. Sign your child up for a dance party this summer! Zumba Kids Jr. (ages 4-6) & Zumba Kids (ages 7-12) are extremely fun for kids. Students participate in high-energy, kid-friendly dances where we break down the steps to learn the choreography. The students also participate in games and learn different styles of dances and about the country where they originate from. Zumba Kids and Zumba Kids Jr. help kids develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of their lives by making fitness fun.

Tree Climbing Fun, Fitness, Adventure! Recreational tree climbing allows climbers to ascend into and explore trees safely! Gain a new appreciation for trees and nature. CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

BALLET The perfect class for the ballerina in you! This class lays the foundation for proper dance technique. The class includes: ballet basics, proper positions, beginning combinations, beginning turns, barre technique and more! Dancers will gain confidence in movement, strengthen their body, and improve posture and balance.

BALLET/TAP This is a great combination for the dancer who enjoys both ballet and tap and wants to learn both genres. The class includes: ballet and tap basics, proper positions, beginning combinations, terminology and more!

CHEER An athletic activity which includes the elements of dance, gymnastics, chants and stunts. Athletes will learn a cheer routine using the fundamentals of motion technique, jumps, voice, and basic tumbling. These elements will help athletes gain effective body control and give them an understanding of how to complete a cheerleading routine.

DANCE CONDITIONING Dance conditioning class focuses on strengthening, toning, and stretching the body. The goal is to provide exercises for the development of a dancer’s endurance, strength, flexibility, and coordination.

DISCOVER DANCE The DiscoverDance Early Childhood Program is a series of movement classes designed to introduce children to the creative and expressive world of dance. Each program offers children the opportunity to develop their natural movement ability in a multi-sensory environment. Music, movement, visuals, and props will enhance your dancers' love of the art form and the unique conceptual approach to dance education will provide the opportunity for cognitive growth. ** Parents attend and participate in Discover With Me class.

HIP HOP For all those who love to move! This energetic class explores funky and exciting hip hop steps and beginning dance combinations. Dancers will enjoy learning a fun street style that they can do to their favorite pop hits!

JAZZ A popular choice! Dancers will explore moves that incorporate musical interpretation, synchronization, and technical steps. This style dance allows dancers to really express their personality!

TECHNIQUE Core kick is the basis for many styles of dance. This class will focus on precision kick and pom style dance which is very popular amongst middle and high school dancers. Dancers will learn pom and jazz technique, kick technique, different types of kicks, and stretching and strengthening.

LYRICAL JAZZ A ballet based style of dance that concentrates on the emotions and feelings of a song. Choreography is often slower and controlled while utilizing muscles and isolations. Class is combined with Jazz. Pre-requisite: Dancers must have at least one year of Ballet instruction within the past three years to register.

POM This class is a great opportunity for beginner & intermediate pom dancers. Learn basic pom techniques: sharp arms, cinnamon rolls, high V, low V & more! Poms will be an accessory you can order or bring your own set to class.

TAP This class focuses on basic tap steps, traveling combinations and terminology. Dancers will learn to shuffle, ball change, scuff, hop and step across the floor with invigorating and fun choreography!

TUMBLING Dancers will learn basic tumbling, flexibility, strength, balance & coordination.

The Kaukauna Recreation Department is offering the enclosed programming for the summer of 2021. We intend to follow the guidelines and recommendations provided by the CDC and WEDC whenever possible to ensure that program participants are safe when participating in our programs. The COVID-19 Coronavirus Global Pandemic is not over and the disease is still spreading. Basic principles that will be followed include: 1. Patrons that are experiencing symptoms of a comunicable disease are encouraged to stay home. 2. Frequent hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and the use of alcohol based hand sanitizers is

strongly encouraged. 3. Social distancing at a distance of six (6) feet or more is encouraged whenever possible. 4. Wearing of a facemask is encouraged when possible. 5. Avoiding touching of ones face is discouraged. 6. Avoiding frequently touched surfaces and common use equipment encouraged. 7. Staff will be using facemasks, gloves and increased cleaning and sanitizing practices to reduce contact with the virus. 8. Normal Class sizes have been lowered for 2020 classes. 9. Some class durations have be decreased as well. 10. Some programs will require the assistance of parents in the class.

June 8 Crayfish Craze! Community Crayfish Hunt 9:30a -11a Join the staff for an exciting adventure in the Konkapot Creek catching crayfish and other aquatic critters. Wear water or tennis shoes to walk in the water.

June 10 Birdhouse Building Clinic 10a -11a Learn how to build a wooden bird house using materials provided by 1000 Islands. Bring a hammer. Registration is required. $5.00 per kit donation appreciated.

June 14 – 25 Goats Browsing at 1000 Islands Weather permitting, the goats on loan from Mulberry Lane Farms will be in the fenced in area to eat invasive plants–

mainly Buckthorn. The goats will be out working (eating) from approximately 8a until 5p daily.

June 15 June Storybook Walk – Let’s Count Goats! – 9a – 3p This is a fun, educational activity for the entire family. Enjoy the outdoors and read the book Let’s Count Goats! By

Mem Fox on our kid-friendly boardwalk trail. Reading stations will be set up along the boardwalk for a self-guided walk to read a page or two at each station. Visit each station to read the entire book. After completing the book, be sure to explore the Conservancy Zone and trails and take a craft project to go! This is a free program for all.

June 18 1000 Little Wonders – Book: Come Along, Daisy 9:30a - 10:30a This will be an in-person class for children 3 – 5 years old and their parent/other guardian. Start with a reading of

So join us in learning the difference between bees and wasps by exploring their nests by dissecting old hives, looking inside an active bee hive here on the property, catching and learning how to tell the difference between a bee and a wasp, and tasting some of the honey our resident bees make. Advertisers Wanted! A goal of the Kaukauna Recreation Department is to increase communications with the citizens that utilize our services. To achieve this goal, we have created three seasonal Program Guides (Winter/Spring (Dec 1), Summer (Apr 1) and Fall/Winter (Aug 1)). Your organization can be a part of helping us achieve our goal by placing a full color advertisement in these Program Guides. In addition to reaching potential customers, your ad tells citizens that you are committed to helping improve the quality of life for all Kaukauna residents and visitors. Wanted: New Programs! We are always looking for new programs that may be exciting to people of any age and utilize the resources available in our community (people and facilities). If you have a hobby, interest, expertise or special talent, and you would like to offer a program through us please contact Jeff Malloy (920) 766-6335. I will sit down with you and work through all of the details necessary to create your new program including facilities, equipment, costs, revenues, and staffing. I also welcome your suggestions for new programs and will research the feasibility of offering a related program.

Help Wanted! Applications will be accepted for Seasonal, Part-Time Summer Staff. Potential openings include: Dance Instructor Lifeguards Pool Attendant/Concessionaire Swimming Instructors Scorekeepers Youth Sport Instructors Umpires (adult and youth softball) Wages vary by position and experience level. Applications (available on the City’s website and the office) may be submitted to the office. Positions are open until filled.
