The regular course of the Korean Language Education Center (KLEC) consists of four terms a year. Each term provides 200 hours of lectures for 10 weeks.

The course has a total of six stages. It takes about one and a half year to complete all
the stages.
Stage Description
1 To practice basic speaking and listening
To learn the most basic Korean language required for daily life
2 To learn the basic sentence structures
To develop abilities to adapt to Korean culture and lifestyles
3 To read and understand basic writings and write short texts
To improve Korean language skills to have no difficulty in daily life
4 To learn reading short essays, newspaper articles, etc.
To develop skills to express opinions on politics, economy, society and culture
5 To learn discussions on various topics
To communicate in Korean without any difficulties in daily life
6 To understand professional content without any difficulties
To use unique expressions and terminologies of the Korean language

Student’s Pledge
As I apply for the Korean Language Education Center (KLEC), the Catholic University of Korea (CUK), I shall comply with the following rules :
1. I shall comply with the Korean laws and the regulations of KLEC, CUK.
2. I understand that it is mandatory for international students staying in Korea to have the National Health Insurance for unexpected accidents or diseases and agree to subscribe the NHI.
3. I agree that any incident caused by my negligence (for example, losing personal items, traffic accident, illness, fire, etc.) is under my responsibility and therefore I shall not claim any compensation for it to KLEC, CUK.
4. I agree that I must study at KLEC, CUK for 4 terms (1 year).
5. I shall not offer or demand any kind of job requiring an employment contract.
6. I confirm that I have no criminal records or have been subject to disciplinary actions.
7. I confirm that I apply for KLEC, CUK only for academic purpose and that employment is not my purpose of entering Korea.
