Walking in the Gym... e Gym is open to the public during normal busi-ness hours for walking. A mile is equal to 10 1/2 times around the gym. Please be aware there may be children playing or other activities. We will post any scheduled event or activity that will close the gym to the public.

Age Requirements...For all programs, unless otherwise noted, age require-ments will be as of the date of the rst class, session, or game. Please do not sign your child up for a class, session, or game in which he or she does not belong. Age requirements are set to bene t the child and make instruction more consistent for the instructor or coach. In some instances, the requirements have been set for the child’s safety. ank You for your cooperation!

e Little Athlete series introduces children ages 3 - 6 to the basic skills of the sports. Our goal is to lead the children into a positive atmosphere where teamwork, sportsmanship, cooperation, and listening to instructions

are emphasized. We encourage parents to participate with their child in these activities.

Obstacle courses constructed out of mats will be used along with other apparatus. ere will also be an emphasis on learning colors and numbers through tumbling, In these classes, a parent or adult is in the class with the child at all times.Safety is No. 1 and fun a close second. Children will learn to follow instructions, build their self-con dence, and improve strength, coordination, and exibility. Next school year (2021 - 2022), 3rd - 6th graders in Abilene (USD 435 & St. Andrews students) will have the opportunity to participate in a new youth athletic program. Abilene Athletics Academy will off er practice opportunities a er school for students to work on their skills in the sports of volleyball, girls basketball, and boys basketball. During this off ering, coaches in each of those speci c sports will be working with prospective athletes on fundamental skills, strategies and game scrimmages to help build our athletic programs. ese will be held at the Abilene Community Center a er school and bus transportation from each school will be off ered.

Tumbling/Dance Combo - A combination class of both tumbling and dance is wonderful for younger students. Combination classes will begin with stretches and warm-ups including all basic positions of ballet, owed by warm up dances that are hip-hop or jazz style, We then move on to tumbling that will include, but not limited to forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels, backbends, bridge kickovers, and walkovers.

Tumbling - Tumbling is a form of gymnastics performed without props or equipment also referred to as oor gymnastics. Classes off ered will range from beginner through advanced levels. Tumbling classes are designed to teach exibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. Our tumbling classes will focus on mastering all basic skills and exercises that provide a strong foundation moving into advanced movements.

Boys Parkour Style Tumbling - Parkour is a training discipline that enhances your strength, coordination, and agility by overcoming movement challenges by climbing walls, balancing on obstacles, swinging on bars, and vaulting over barriers. is class will combine Parkour movement with basic tumbling skill, using forward mo-mentum to safely execute diff erent courses!

Broadway, Abilene. e 5K Run is on a certi ed course. Awards presented to male and female 5K winners in each age group. Walkers will enjoy a noncompetitive 2-Mile Fun Walk. He also enjoys seeing old and new faces. e train ride is approximately 45 minutes long. It travels from the historic Abilene Depot to one mile west of Enterprise and back. e passengers will ride in the enclosed heated car with Santa who will be available to listen to your Christmas wish list and you may have your picture taken with him. ere may be a few surprises along the way. You must pre-register for this train ride. ere will be no tickets sold the day of the train ride! Program Procedures...Registration is based on a rst come, rst serve basis. Pay-ment must be made with one (1) check, money order or cash for the full amount. We accept major credit cards - Visa, Master Card, and Discover. You are not registered until payment has been received.Payment is due upon registration. Payments are due the rst class date of the month for activities with a monthly

payment.Classes will have a minimum enrollment and if that has not been met 72 hours prior to the rst class meeting, the class will be cancelled. See Refund Policy.

Late fees...We will apply late fees to all late sign-ups, if openings re-main. Youth Activities and Sports will be charged a non-re-fundable $5.00 late fee a er the registration deadline. Adult Team Sports will be charged a non-refundable $25.00 late fee a er the registration deadline. Games will be forfeited until late fee is paid for all adult teams.Please sign up early.

Scholarships...Scholarships are available for students who receive Free or Reduced lunches. Eligible participants must complete the Scholarship Eligibility Waiver Form. Scholarships will not be granted until all paperwork is complete.

Refunds...1. A full refund will be issued in the event of a class cancella-tion due to insuffi cient enrollment. We will make every eff ort to ensure that every participant is informed of the cancellation.

2. Refunds are available up to 72 hours prior to the rst class meeting. A $5.00 processing fee will be deducted. A er the class has started or before the midway point, you will only be refunded 50% of the class cost. A er the midway point, a refund will not be issued.

3. Prorated refunds due to illness are allowed if accompanied by a written physician’s statement, provided the class session has not reached the halfway point. A $5.00 processing fee will be deducted.

4. Waiting lists will be formed when classes have met the maxi-mum number of participants. Every attempt will be made to accommodate participants.

5. Refunds are issued by check, from the City of Abilene. Please allow two - four weeks for processing. Your ActiveNet account can also be refunded to be used toward another activ-ity.

Multi-Purpose Room: $40 for the rst 2 hours, $10 each additional hour. ($25.00 deposit) *** is room will accommodate approximately 150 people with tables and chairs. A refrigerator /freezer, stove, microwave and sink are available.

Commons Area/Lobby: *** is room will accommodate approximately 100 people***

Basketball Courts: $30 per hour per court Abilene Travel Teams: $10 per hour per court ***We have two courts that can be separated by a curtain if needed.

Set-Up/Tear Down Fee: $30 APRD staff to set up/tear down. No alcoholic beverages or tobacco are allowed in or on City of Abilene property. (Set up and clean up time must be included in reservation time)

use at all youth sports events.• I will remember that the games are for youth - not adults.• I will do my very best to make youth sports fun for my child.• I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, fans and offi cials with respect, regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.• I promise to help my child enjoy the youth sports experience by doing whatever I can, such as being a respectful fan,

assisting with coaching, or providing transportation.• I will require that my child’s coach be trained in the responsibilities of being a youth sports coach, and that the coach

upholds the “Coaches Code of Ethic”.• I will read the National Standards for Youth Sports and do what I can, to help all youth sports organization implement

and enforce them.

• All teams will be formed by the Abilene Parks & Recreation Department.• A $5/child late registration fee will be charged for all late registrations. Late registration will be accepted until teams are full. A er teams are full, all late registrations will be put on a waiting list. Waiting list applicants will not be guaranteed placement. Late registration sign-ups may not request to be placed on a speci c team.• All youth must play in the appropriate age/grade division. Requests to be moved to another division will not be grant ed.• Youth will be contacted by their coaches to when/where practices will be held, as well as game schedules.• At least one coach from each team must certify through the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA).• Requests for three coaches to coach a team will not be allowed unless one of the coaches does not have a child partici pating in the program.• Requests for youth to be placed on the same team as a friend or with a speci c coach will be considered, but there are no guarantees.• Our goal is to provide the opportunity for participating to all who enter, regardless of skill or ability level. We wish to provide youth with a fun learning experience and the opportunity to develop lifetime leisure skills.

Abilene Virtual School (9th - 12th)Abilene Virtual School will off er a rigorous online curriculum for the core academic classes including, English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Students will have access to highly quali ed teachers when help is needed. In addition, a Service Learning component will be off ered that will help students connect with the community. e enrollment process will include an enrollment form as well as an interview including the potential student, their parents, High School Principal, and Counselor. Fees include a $40.00 insurance cost of the computer.

1 - ABILENE COMMUNITY CENTER - Located at 1020 N.W. 8th St. Volleyball and basketball courts and an indoor walking area are available. e Community Center and multi-purpose room are available for rent. Contact the Parks and Recreation Offi ce for more information. e Community Center was opened in June of 2005.

2 - NORTH DIAMOND COMPLEX (DIAMONDS #1 & #2) - Located east of the Community Center, these two elds are used for youth baseball and so ball games and tournaments.

3 - BILL GRAVETTE SPORTS COMPLEX (DIAMONDS #3, #4, #5, & #6) - Located south of the Community Center, the complex contains four elds used for youth baseball and so ball programs and various youth tournaments. Fields #3 and #4 are home to the Abilene High School so ball team.

5 - FIELD #7 - Located on the west side of Eisenhower Park. Field #7 is home to the Abilene Baseball Club and Abilene High School baseball team.

6 - EISENHOWER ROSE GARDEN - Located in Eisenhower Park. Stop and smell the roses during the spring and summer or enjoy the wonderful array of autumn colors in the fall. e Rose Garden is a relaxing atmosphere for anyone. Persons who are interested in requesting the use of the Rose Garden for special occasions or weddings should call the Parks and Recreation offi ce. is is a rst-come, rst-serve basis. For lost and found items please contact the Parks & Recreation offi ce.

7 - EISENHOWER PARK - e main entrance is located at Northwest 4th and Pine Street. is park was developed as a W. P. A. Project and was entered in the National Register of Historic Place on June 6, 2002. It contains the following sports facilities: Bill Gravette So -ball Complex, Ted Power Baseball Diamond, the Skate Park, lighted sand volleyball, tennis, and basketball courts. As well as the walking trail that was opened the Fall of 2007 it is 5/8 of a mile and resides in the Eisenhower Park and the Rose Garden. e public rest rooms are open from late March to late October, weather dependent. is lovely shaded park is ideal for large picnics, reunions, or special events. 9 - ABILENE MUNICIPAL POOL - Located on the east side of Eisenhower Park. e renovation of the bath house and pool with water features was completed May 2009.

14 - BICENTENNIAL PARK - Located north of the Abilene High School on Mulberry Street. is quiet park is great for family reunions and birthday parties. It consists of picnic tables, basketball court, playground equipment, and rest room facilities. Two shelter houses are available for your enjoyment. anks to the Kiwanis for their hard work on making this park better for the whole community.

13 - LITTLE IKE PARK - Located at the corner of Northwest 3rd and Spruce St. Visit the statue of IKE, as a boy. Enjoy the picnic tables, and benches in the heart of downtown Historic Abilene in the complately renovated park. Renovated 2019
