We Train Hard

We have to train frequently to keep our skills sharp

We meet every other week, and train nearly every meeting. Plus “extra” trainings.

To Compare….• We have no room to train with equipment inside…• We have no room to service equipment / conduct

preventative maintenance inside ….• We have no room to wash trucks inside…• We have minimal room to clean and “in-service”

equipment following a call inside…• We have no room to comfortably walk around our

trucks…… OTHER FIRE DEPARTMENTS DO!

What is “standard” on most any fire department seems like a luxury to our staff.

Aged Fleet of Apparatus

• “Newest” vehicle was manufactured in 1994– NFPA says a firetruck should be placed into reserve

status at 20 years of age and taken out of service at 25 years. Our newest truck is 26 years old.

• Repairs are challenging– Parts are hard to find or have to be rebuilt– Vehicle is down for an extended period of time– Repairs are costly– We were told in 2019 Squad could not be repaired

when it failed DOT inspection. Was repaired but down for weeks, with parts being shipped across the country.
