Facts & Figures

To say it’s growing fast is an understatement!

SKIDS | FRANCHISE PACK 2018

The founding company, Safe Kids in Daily Supervision (sKids), was launched in New Zealand in 1996. Dawn Engelbrecht and Bev Parsons purchased existing sKids franchises in 2000 and 1998 respectively, before going onto purchase the New Zealand franchisor business, which had 19 locations at the time.

Kids (Safe Kids in Daily Supervision) is a Kiwi owned company specialising in Out

of School Care (OSCAR) programmes based at local primary and intermediate schools.

sKids has over 65 franchises and looks after around 6500+ primary school-aged children every day… to say it’s growing fast is an understatement.

Kiwi Kids Education Foundation is a charity dedicated to giving back in all sorts of ways, from supporting a sKids family struggling to put food on the table to donating funds to a fire-damaged school. Through the Kiwi Kids Education Foundation, little by little we are helping change the world for our kids and their families.

A STRONG PROGRAMME TOOLKIT EQUALS LOTS OF WAYS TO OPEN DOORS DAY 1One size doesn’t fit all, which is why sKids diverse range of programmes offers unlimited options in opening doors at new schools, and enhancing value for current schools.

S For example you could find, a prospect school is experiencing a staff shortage, yet they are keen for its students to learn how to cook? sKids cooking programme, FoodStorm would be a great solution! By opening the door with FoodStorm, further opportunities for After School and Before School programmes could come to fruition too!

Another example could be an existing school might have been offering After School and Before School for a while, but now need an outside agency to deliver the holiday programme in school.

For me it’s about growth as a manager. I always aspired to be a principal. You’re not just a childcare service – you’re a family service.

Kris Dempster-Rivett, sKids franchisee, Whangarei

I love that we make a difference to so many children’s lives. We give them experiences they take with them forever.

Faieka Abrahams, sKids Master Franchisee

Often people will say that I must be raking the money in, but it’s not about that for me – it’s about the kids, because a lot of kids in this town miss out and I love kids, I love to help people and I love to know that I’m making people happy – it’s fulfilling.

Natasha Kimber, sKids Franchisee, Tekuiti, Otorohanga

sKids is where my passion meets my skill base. I’m a firm believer that it takes a village to raise a child, and for the kids who spend quite a lot of time with us, we’re a part of that village for their families.

Rechelle McNair, sKids franchisee, Auckland

I always knew that I would enjoy working with children. What I did not realise was how much they would teach me.

Rose King, sKids Franchisee, South Auckland

Buying a franchise is a big step with lots of things to consider.

W e have a path to ownership that describes the key steps in the

becoming part of sKids, so hopefully it makes it easier for you and your journey to be a sKids franchisee as it may involve a change in career or move to a new location.

1. CONTACT Your first step is to get in touch with Chris Bartels, via either 021 974 221 or [email protected] and she will discuss the sKids business with you. This non-obligation chat will give you an initial idea if it’s for you or not.

2. APPLICATION Next up, we will ask you to complete (non-disclosure agreement) an application form and lastly send us your CV. Our team can then find out about you, your skills and experience before we talk in more depth about our business.

3. FACE-TO-FACE MEETING If the match is looking good and you are interested, then the third step is to setup a meeting at Head Office (or a skype call if it’s easier) with you and your partner to discuss the opportunity. It will allow you to ask as many questions as you wish (make a list before the call is a good idea), provide a greater understand of our industry, the obligations of being a franchisee and what the life of a sKids franchisee looks like.

4. REFLECT After this meeting if you will feel excited about being able to make a difference in your local community and being part of the sKids Family. We will then ask that you take some time to reflect about the reality of your obligations and is this business the right fit for you? If we are all happy, then we enter what is called the Due Diligence phase.

• Organise finance if required.

• Prepare Business Plan.
