To maximize the recovery of hydrocarbons from a reservoir, several methods can be implemented after the natural depletion stage is over. The secondary methods which comprise water or gas injection help in maintaining the reservoir pressure to ensure hydrocarbon fl ow to the production wells. The recovery factor at the end of this stage often remains below 35% of the Oil Originally in Place. Tertiary methods are then developed to overcome this issue and reach recovery factors above 60%.
Polymer fl ooding belongs to chemical enhanced recovery; it is a well-known method (over 40 years of commercial application) with low risk and application over a wide range of reservoir conditions. It consists in dissolving polymer in the injected water to increase its viscosity and to improve the sweep effi ciency in the hydrocarbon reservoir.
SNF has developed a range of standard Polymer Injection Units (PIU) to facilitate polymer injection test, pilot and modular implementations. Units are based on standard 40 feet high cube maritime containers for easy transportation. The unit includes all equipment involved in the polymer solution preparation and injection. The unit allows a quick installation and a quick start up time. As this equipment is available as standard units, the manufacturing time is short and the costs are optimized.

The FLOQUIP PIU can be installed or removed very quickly under any climate. Here a top skid for big bag storage is being installed.

FLOQUIP PIU COMPACTStandalone unit designed for injectivity testsA typical injectivity test on the fi eld will last from a few days to a few weeks. The FLOQUIP PIU COMPACT has been designed to simplify and accelerate the implementation of these injectivity tests.
The FLOQUIP PIU COMPACT fi ts in only one 40 feet high cube standard maritime container which makes it easily transportable over long distances, by ship, train or truck. And all the equipment inside is securely fastened during transport. The FLOQUIP PIU COMPACT is designed for onshore fi elds and safe area.

The polymer solution can be diluted at low or high pressure depending on the existing water injection configuration on the field.
The availability or not of high pressure water on site will modify the skid layout as well as the size of the HP pumps needed for the injection. The two graphs below summarize the different confi gurations. The rest of the skids and their equipment is not modifi ed. The capabilities are not modifi ed either.

BASIC STANDARD SKID DESIGN
To make down powder polymers you need to dilute it in resonably clean water in abscence of oxygen and let it mature at least for 45 mn. Then the concentrated mother solution is post diluted to the end users specifi cations and injected in the wells. The necessary equipment can be reduced to the 10 items listed below. Depending on the injection capacity required these can be contained in 2 skids or more.

FLOQUIP PIU PILOT - Designed for pilot injection and modular deployment
The purpose of FLOQUIP PIU PILOT is to provide standardized easily transportable polymer injection units to polymer oil fi elds. They are fully contained, supplying polymer make-down and injection equipment into two or more 40 feet high cube standard maritime containers.
The FLOQUIP Polymer Injection Unit comes as a standard skids package. There are several variants and options in order to adapt to local operating fi eld conditions and customer requirements. The FLOQUIP PIU is designed for onshore fi eld and not explosive area. Below is the available range of FLOQUIP PIU PILOT.

STANDARDIZED BUT CUSTOMIZABLE
SNF can provide a large range of standard Polymer Injection Units with a short delivery time. All these standard units can be customized, extended as per client requirements and local conditions. For example a dry bulk silo can be added to store Polymer. Alkali and Surfactant skids can be connected to the Polymer Injection Unit.
Explosion proof versions and structure certification DNV2.7.2 for Off-shore applications are also available. Prices and delivery times upon request.
