Since 1992, the Alabama Municipal Electric Authority (AMEA) and its Members have provided over $2 million in scholarships to graduating high school seniors who receive their electric service from AMEA Members, including Alexander City, Dothan, Fairhope, LaFayette, Lanett, Luverne, Opelika, Piedmont, Riviera Utilities, Sylacauga and Tuskegee.
To be eligible for an AMEA scholarship, a student’s parent and/or legal guardian must receive electric service from an AMEA Member utility. Granted only to graduating high school seniors, the student must attend a four-year college/university, community college, and/or vocational school within the state of Alabama.
In 2017, AMEA and its 11 Member cities will make available 44, $2,500 scholarships.
To download a scholarship application, visit the AMEA web site, www.amea.com, Scholarship Program. Applications are also available at all schools within AMEA Member cities. Application deadline for the 2017 program is Monday, Feb. 13, 2017.

APPLICATION PACKAGE FOR SCHOLARSHIPAlabama Municipal Electric Authority
The application (and all attachments thereto) must be signed, completed and submitted to AMEA at 80 TechnaCenter Drive, Montgomery, AL 36117. If an applicant fails to complete the entire ap-plication or fails to submit all the items in the format requested hereunder by the deadline date, the application will not be considered for any purposes or under any circumstances with respect to the scholarships of AMEA.
Please note that the application must be signed by both the student applying for the scholarship and the parent/legal guardian of the applicant and, if either of such signatures is not on the applica-tion, the application will be considered incomplete, and not considered in the application process.
The application with all required attachments and submissions must be postmarked no later than February 13, 2017.
By submitting the application package and the attachments and submissions related to the ap-plication, the applicant and his or her parent/legal guardian signing the application are certifying that the information submitted is true and correct and the applicant and his or her parent/legal guardian are agreeing to the scholarship conditions set forth below.
SCHOLARSHIP CONDITIONS
The terms and conditions on which the scholarships are to be made for the 2017 scholarship year are as follows:
1. The scholarship will only be granted to graduating high school seniors.
2. In order to qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must be a dependent of a customer of an AMEA Member city/utility (electric) at the time the application is made and through graduation from high school.
3. In order to qualify for the scholarship, the student must attend a four-year college, community college, or vocational school in the state of Alabama.
4. The scholarship will be paid by AMEA directly to the educational institution for credit to the student’s account at the institution.
5. The scholarship must be utilized within 16 months following the student’s graduation.
6. The scholarships will be announced and awarded in the spring.

RELEASE OF INFORMATION
