Pam Bloom, B&B Leasing Co/Oregon City Garbage

Owner | 12 yrs Manager and 2 yrs Owner

Please list/summarize your involvement within Chambers of Commerce, the business community, and/or the Oregon City community as a whole.

Why do you wish to be elected to the Chamber Board of Directors and what perspective and/or business demo- graphic do you represent?

I can contribute experience, leadership and connection with local organizations. I would like to encourage businesses of 50 employees or greater to become involved with the Chamber. To encourage and promote the benefits of the OC Chamber to the community.

What role does the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce play in Oregon City’s future?

Connect the larger businesses within the community through the Chamber. Our membership through the Chamber provides the community with information about business and the Chamber provides business with info about our community.

John Graf, OC SignGrafx

Owner/President | 2 yrs with OC SignGrafx | 2 yrs in advertising

Please list/summarize your involvement within Chambers of Commerce, the business communi-ty, and/or the Oregon City community as a whole.

My involvement within the Chamber of Commerce is that I have been an Ambassador for the last 1-1/2 years and look to continue that. I have also been in the Oregon City business community for the last 25 years sell-ing Auto paint and supplies.

Why do you wish to be elected to the Chamber Board of Directors and what perspective and/or business demo-graphic do you represent?

I would like to be elected to the Board of Directors because I enjoy helping other businesses succeed and grow. And with my background in business sales and marketing I feel I can do just that.

What role does the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce play in Oregon City’s future?

The Oregon City Chamber of Commerce can play a major role not only in shaping Our Business landscape but also in its quality of growth. Also in the development of new business and new business owners. Giving people in our community opportunity to succeed.

Please list/summarize your involvement within Chambers of Commerce, the business community, and/or the Oregon City community as a whole. I was born in Portland and migrated to Oregon City in 2014. Since my arrival I quickly became involved in the local Chamber of Commerce and am now serving as a member of the Government and Economic Affairs Com-

mittee. Most members recognize me as a participant in the weekly Good Morning Oregon City meetings and ad-hoc committees I’ve served on over time. My real estate profession takes me beyond the local business community and into the neighborhoods where I currently serve as Vice-Chair of the McLoughlin Historic Neighborhood Association. Although a relatively new resident of Oregon City, my ancestors arrived in Oregon City on October 19th, 1852 where one of the relatives was treated by Dr. John McLoughlin for Mountain Fever. Oregon City was a welcoming sight then and it still is today. I feel my roots run deep as I regularly meet people of goodwill who share in the values I cherish.

Why do you wish to be elected to the Chamber Board of Directors and what perspective and/or business demographic do you represent? I believe that what I give in slices returns in loaves. This propensity to help others is a fundamental strategy in growing my busi-ness as well as character. The biggest investment most people make in their lives is the purchase of a residential property and my clients depend on me to help them into a place they can call, “home”. Beyond this responsibility comes a perspective and desire to do what I can to help them keep, grow and protect their investment. There is no better way to do this than to participate in growing and strengthening the local community.

What role does the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce play in Oregon City’s future? Representation of the local business community involves education, advocacy and outreach. The future of Oregon City is deter-mined on where we are now and what we are doing now. As a former president of neighborhood associations over the years I’ve learned that when leading a charge it’s best to look back to see if anyone is following. Most people don’t volunteer in community affairs until a crisis occurs and by then it’s often too little, too late. To better prepare for the future, it’s the role of the local cham-ber to pro-actively seek involvement by its members, to advocate for a long-term, healthy business environment and to continue to promote local businesses. All of these I find the Chamber is currently doing very well and am proud to be counted as a member.

Sheldon Penner, Chris Cakes NW/Amicus Digital Sign Solutions

Owner/Operator

Please list/summarize your involvement within Chambers of Commerce, the business community, and/or the Oregon City community as a whole.

I bring to the Oregon City Chamber a breadth of experience both as an owner/operator of two businesses, Amicus Digital Sign Solutions and Chris Cakes Northwest, to being employed by a major health care organiza-

tion. Through my own small business my experiences range from serving the needs of businesses ranging from 1 up to 100 em-ployees and home-based to corporations. My experience with Chambers of Commerce began as early as 1998. Since that time I’ve served actively on a number of chamber boards and committees. This past year I started a new business, Chris Cakes Northwest, and my first order of business was to join the chamber. I felt that had to be a priority.

Why do you wish to be elected to the Chamber Board of Directors and what perspective and/or business demograph-ic do you represent?

I wish to help make membership in the Oregon City Chamber a real status symbol within the business community and recognizable within the entire community. I want to bring a small business perspective, specifically that of a small entrepreneur, to the Oregon City Chamber Board of Directors. After all, the vast majority of Oregon businesses are micro-businesses like mine. Additionally I wish to serve because I am part of the community and believe I am relatable and have an “all in” attitude when I make a commit-ment. There are great people on this Board of Directors, too, and I hope to learn from them.

What role does the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce play in Oregon City’s future?

The role of the Oregon City Chamber in the future of Oregon City is to provide leadership especially in areas that relate to business growth. My goal would be to help the chamber develop a reputation that when there is an issue that needs to be solved, people come to the chamber first. The Chamber then can seek the opinion of businesses to get to the answers to solve that issue.

Please list/summarize your involvement within Chambers of Commerce, the business community, and/or the Oregon City community as a whole.

Though I have only lived here in Oregon City for 4 years I consider it my home. I love owning a holis-tic health business here and providing care to my amazing clients. This year I have been honored to serve as the Ad-ministrator of the Ambassador Committee for the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce. I am also a proud member of Buy Local Oregon City and was chair of the 2016 Chamber Annual Dinner Committee. I love volunteering and helping wherever I can.

Why do you wish to be elected to the Chamber Board of Directors and what perspective and/or business demographic do you represent?

I am so very passionate about this community, but also this Chamber. I believe I represent not only the perspective of a super small business as my staff is currently 2 people, but I also offer insight of owning a health related business. Both of these demographics have unique challenges that I will address if elected to the Chamber Board of Directors

What role does the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce play in Oregon City’s future?

The Oregon CIty Chamber of Commerce plays a huge role in the future of Oregon City because it is the business com-munity that has the ability to make a huge difference in the lives of its residents. As a Chamber we make an impact through support of events, support of businesses and support of the city as a whole. All of these pieces together foster community.

Doug Whiteley, Clackamas Fire District #1

Division Chief/Fire Marshal | 15 yrs with Clackamas Fire District

Please list/summarize your involvement within Chambers of Commerce, the business community, and/or the Oregon City community as a whole.

Over my 15 years with Clackamas Fire, I have attended numerous Chamber functions and have built meaningful, strong community relationships through this involvement. Chamber activities in-

clude OC and North Clackamas weekly gatherings, after hours spotlights, and various chamber events and fundraisers. With regards to the community, my career in the fire service has allowed me to be close and connected with business-es and the community as a whole. I was one of the fire district staff that spent a lot of time in Oregon City in 2003 when Clackamas Fire began services there with a focus on regaining the community’s trust of the fire service. Currently I live just outside Oregon City and am involved with the Oregon City Rotary.

Why do you wish to be elected to the Chamber Board of Directors and what perspective and/or business demographic do you represent?

I feel that my familiarity with the community, City, and businesses in addition to my affiliation with Clackamas Fire, can make a difference for the Chamber by strengthening its community engagement and outreach. I really care about Ore-gon City and want to make a positive impact on the area. I plan to continue to support Oregon City’s growth and the City being a destination for businesses and families. I feel that I would represent the community and Chamber in the area of public service/public safety.

What role does the Oregon City Chamber of Commerce play in Oregon City’s future?

The Chamber’s role in Oregon City’s future would be around promoting and encouraging continued growth through economic development and sustainability within the community. The Chamber should be involved by taking an active role in building strong businesses through engagement, support and acceptance. The Chamber act as an advocate for businesses while maintaining a collaborative spirit between living communities, businesses, and the City.
