THE CAREER PARTNER PROGRAM

Students are the lifeblood of our business. Each year, we recruit, hire and train 500 - 1,000 college students to make in-person business to business sales calls in their campus community. While averaging 30 sales calls each day for 13 weeks, students will learn to sell print, online, and mobile advertising. We pride ourselves on our top notch training program and ability to transform a college student into an experienced sales professional.

Developed 15 years ago, the AroundCampus Group’s Career Partners program is an opportunity for select companies to become part of our inner circle. Membership provides access to our student interns, both during training and after their summer with us.

During our Sales Foundations Academy training, Career Partners have the opportunity to speak to 500 - 1,000 students, visit training classrooms, and have more intimate conversations during breaks and lunches. Opportunities to become even more actively involved in training and the students’ development are available.

Over 85% of our students are confident they will pursue a career opportunity in sales, but many are unsure of the opportunities in the field. As a partner, our students will look to you first for employment once they’ve completed the internship, an advantage that gives you an edge over other companies. We have hand-selected the brightest college students from the best undergraduate business and professional selling programs in the country. On top of their education, they now have real world sales and marketing experience, making them extremely qualified for your company!


THE AC EXPERIENCEFROM START TO FINISH

Each year, our experienced recruiters in collaboration with our Regional Managers, recruit the most talented, driven students on college campuses nationwide. We seek candidates who are highly motivated and interested in gaining experience in both sales and marketing. In 2016 we attended over 165 career and internship fairs, spoke to hundreds of clubs and professional organizations, and gained referrals from professors and AC program alumni.

Our comprehensive recruiting process, which includes an initial screening, a pre-employment assessment, a virtual interview, and a face-to-face interview, identifies team players with a passion and aptitude for sales. In 2016 alone, we conducted 3,961 interviews to hire 745 students! Once selected, we maintain steady contact with them throughout the spring, which only boosts their excitement for the summer.

TRAININGWHERE THE CLASSROOM COMES TO LIFE

After recruiting is complete, training begins. The Sales Foundations Academy sets the tempo for the summer internship. Here, students participate in a skills-based training. Topics covered include, but are not limited to:

• Selling Techniques • Product Features and Benefits • Presentation Skills • Closing Skills • Overcoming Objections• Time and Territory Management • Advertising and Marketing Theory

Class sizes vary from seminars attended by all students, to divisional rooms consisting of 80 to 150 students. Our training program fosters an atmosphere of both learning and discovery. Our staff takes pride in developing the students’ interest and confidence in sales, and more importantly, pushing them to discover their full potential. On the final days of training, each student participates in our Sales Simulation, a series of sales calls to businesses. Each student is recorded and the videos are reviewed with managers.

Following training, students return to their college market where they meet face-to-face with business owners, offering opportunities to reach the campus community in print, online and mobile. Students will offer local businesses advertising opportunities to reach the campus community in print, online & mobile.

Every day students meet twice with their sales team. The morning meeting begins with a team discussion of the day’s activities and strategies. Jeff Stencel, Senior Vice President of Sales, conducts a 10-minute live webinar each morning with teams in all four time zones. These meetings provide celebration and skill-building tips. Following the morning meeting, students work independently and strategically through their assigned territory.

The first few weeks of the summer are dedicated to saturating their territory and moving from business to business in order to reach every opportunity and meet a wide range of clients. We provide marketing materials, a sales kit and business cards to ensure each presentation is delivered in a highly professional manner. The later part of the summer is dedicated to appointments where students discuss the needs of the business and develop marketing plans to reach the college market with our advertising platform.

Each day ends with the afternoon meeting where the team recaps the day, shares their best experiences and reports the achievement of their goals. The students are always meeting new clients, setting appointments, following up, and working through their territory to deliver top-notch marketing presentations. The internship takes a great deal of self-motivation and provides incredible hands-on training in business negotiation.

AroundCampus Group remains committed to our Career Partners, both before and after the summer internship. A strong program aids our sales department with recruiting, making this a mutually beneficial effort.

Once students complete the program, we will reach out to you with resumes of individuals we believe would be a good match for your organization.

A student’s performance is tracked and compared to the team, region, and nation as a whole. By summer’s end, each sales representative has a ranking determined by dollars sold and percentage of goal achieved. At the end of the summer you will receive the final rankings of all students who complete the internship.

Throughout the year, we make efforts to follow up with our alumni, to make sure to keep our Career Partners at the forefront of their job search.
