For more than 45 years, the Boys & Girls Club has provided the foundation that kids need

to be successful. Our program offers youth a chance to connect with amazing staff members,

outstanding volunteers and participate in life-changing opportunities that help them work

toward their own Great Futures. This foundation would not be possible without the support of

the greater community and those partners who help us guarantee success for our members.

YOU are integral to the Club’s success in achieving our mission each day. YOU provide us

with the financial support needed to offer a safe space for our members to build friendships, talk

through their problems, get assistance with their homework, enjoy healthy meals and snacks,

and engage in a variety of academic, healthy-living and leadership programs.

Camp Mariposa—Assisting our Kids in New Ways In 2016, the Club entered into a new partnership with the Moyer

Foundation to offer Camp Mariposa to our members who have been

impacted by substance misuse in their families. A national addiction

prevention and mentoring program for youth, the Camp is available

to children ages 9-12 to attend transformational weekend camps

multiple times per year. Campers participate in fun, traditional camp

activities with education and support exercises led by clinicians and

trained mentors. Beyond the camp, the Club offers additional educa-

tional, social and mentoring activities for campers, teens and their

families. These activities build knowledge, coping skills, confidence, and an opportunity to connect with one

another. The goal of Camp Mariposa is to provide a safe, fun and supportive environment, critical to help

break the cycle of addiction and provide these youth with the support and tools they need to be successful.

Nashua Lowe’s Heroes Make Upgrades to Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua was selected as the only Club in the state to receive a $50,000 grant from Lowe’s as part of the Renovation Across the Nation initiative. Lowe’s granted 50 Clubs around the country, with grants and volunteer support to complete much-needed improvements and renova-tions. The improvements included a new outdoor deck beside the Club’s Stahl Teen Center, which is the only drop-in facility dedi-cated to teens in the area. The deck was dedicated at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in November. In addition to

celebrating this new outdoor space for teens to gather, guests were shown improvements made to the Club’s outside play yard, sitting areas and a new walkway to the sculpture garden. The Club’s security system was upgraded, including cameras that survey the Club’s property and building, to guarantee the safety of all of Club members. A large, indoor mural, which was painted by Club members and celebrates Lowe’s Renovation Across the Nation program had its public unveiling at the dedi-cation that was attended by Lowe’s volunteers , Club staff and over 50 teen members. As the need to update facilities increases and maintenance

costs rise, Lowe’s support was essential to making these critical improvements ensuring that the Club re-mains a safe and inviting place for Greater Nashua’s youth who need us most.

2016 Community Partner Spotlight

Boys & Girls Club Charitable Foundation Update

The Foundation was established to support the long-term activities of the Club. Investment of these en-dowed funds are overseen by the Board of Trustees including: Chair, David Heath, David Brassard, James Conway, Michael Jeans, Thanasi Liakos, Sal Magnano, Hannah McCarthy, Robert Moheban, Martha O’Neill, Fred Roedel, Maurice Simard and James Stellos. The Foundation balance at fiscal year end was $3,745,430.

At the close of 2016, Fred Roedel, a cherished Trustee, friend, advisor and supporter stepped down from his role in the Foundation. CEO Norm Bouthilette said. “We have been honored by his steadfast commitment to the kids in our community.” Fred and his wife Kay created the Roedel Family Scholarship Fund to assist qualifying high-school seniors and alumni as they continue their pursuit of academic success in secondary schools. They are founding members of the Heritage Club which ensures that the future needs of our youth are met by including the Club in their estate plan-ning, On behalf of the countless youth they have helped, staff and fellow board members they have inspired, we offer our deepest gratitude.

Partners 4 Kids Through the Partners 4 Kids (P4K) sponsorship program, businesses and individuals support the Club, year-round, with a simple, once-a-year commitment. An excellent way to gain consistent exposure to the Club’s wide audience. Additional benefits are offered to P4K sponsors including use of Club facilities for meetings or employee gatherings and an invitation to our annual reception to honor our leadership supporters.
