On the grounds of the Soldiers’ Home, a respite and retirement home for the nation’s Armed Forces, is a building called Anderson Cottage. Better known today as the Lincoln Cottage, it served as the Summer White House for several US Presidents, including Arthur, Hayes, Buchanan, and of course, Abraham Lincoln.

Already a National Historic Landmark, in 2000 the Lincoln Cottage was placed on the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Most Endangered list, and dedicated as a National Monument.

Becoming part of the living history and education of our country’s heritage, is a responsibility we take very seriously.

Through our partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Save America’s Treasures program Timberlane has donated products, services and hardware to the restoration of the Lincoln Cottage, as well as other landmarks across the nation.

While some use saw horses and paint buckets, Timberlane opts for innovatie overhead paint lines and curing ovens to complete and protect the professional finishes on all our products, ensuring the perfect balance of temperature and humidity to create a harmonious environment for coverate and sealing.

Of course, you always have the option of ordering your wooden shutters unfinished, but for professional quality finishing we recommend any of our services, including clear coated, stained, primed, primed and painted in one of our standard colors or one of your choosing, or one of our semi-transparent finishes.

All of our finishes include iron oxide pigments that filter UV rays to protect the shutters against degradation of color and coat as well as provide reduction of solvent emissions into the atmosphere.
