New Hampshire Regular Meeting SAU No 55 April 4, 2013 30 Greenough Road 7:30 PM Plaistow, NH Call to Order Chairman Collins called this April 4, 2013 meeting of the Timberlane Regional School Board to order at 7:30 PM. Board Members Present Mr. Barczak, Mr. Bealo, Mr. Blair, Mr. Collins, Mrs. Delfino, Mrs. Kosta, Mr. Mascola, Mrs. Steenson and Mr. Ward. Administrators Present Dr. Metzler, Superintendent of Schools Mr. Stokinger, Business Administrator Mrs. Smith, Assistant Business Administrator Mr. Strainge, Director of Secondary Education Mrs. Killen, Director of Elementary Education Mrs. Gaydos, Pollard School Principal Mrs. Barcelos, Danville School Principal Minutes 01:01:40 The board reviewed and approved March 21, 2013 organizational, public and non–public meeting minutes of the Timberlane Regional School Board. Motion: Mr. Mascola motioned to approve the March 21, 2013 organizational, public and non-public meeting minutes as written. Mr. Barczak seconded. With no further discussion the motion passed by general consent of the board. Delegations and Individuals None CURRENT BUSINESS Math Pilot 01:02:27 Mrs. Killen presented the first reading on a proposed new math program. The teachers who have been participating in the math pilot program reported on their impressions of the three programs presented for consideration. Everyday Math, enVision and Math in Focus. Mrs. Killen recommended the enVision program. The board discussed parent surveys, current Everyday Math program used district wide, cost, assessments, alignment of each program with the Common Core Standards and hardware concerns. Food Service Contract 00:05:40 Annual review of food service contract: Dr. Metzler informed the board the food service program is reporting a deficit at this time. Mrs. Smith reviewed costs, changes and concerns for the program this year. This item will be placed on the April 18th agenda for action.

Set Graduation Date 01:19:22 Dr. Metzler proposed the 2013 graduation date of June 15, 2013. Due to the number of snow days taken this year senior students will be required to attend school until June 14, 2013. It would be mandatory for seniors to attend school on Sunday, May 5, 2012 from 11am to 5pm to accomplish the June 15th graduation date. Motion: Mrs. Kosta motioned to accept June 15th as the 2013 graduation date with students scheduled to attend school on Sunday, May 5, 2013, consideration will be granted to any student who submits such a request for religious reasons. Mr. Mascola seconded. Motion to amend: Mr. Mascola motioned to amend by adding the administration strive for 100% attendance with the condition students who are not able to attend the May 5, 2013 school day make up another day prior

to June 15. Mr. Barczak seconded. With no further discussion the motion passed by a vote of 6-3-0 (Mrs. Kosta, Mrs. Delfino and Mrs. Steenson opposed). Chairman Collins then called the vote on the newly amended motion. With no further discussion the amended motion passed by a vote of 9-0-0. Athletic Trainer Services Contract 01:36:23 Dr. Metzler presented his recommendations for the athletic trainer service provided. The board considered the information presented and expressed their confidence in Dr. Metzler making the decision on this matter. Policies Mr. Mascola recommended four policies for a second reading. Motion: Mrs. Kosta motioned to approve policies for a first reading:

Mr. Bealo seconded. With no further discussion the motion passed by a vote of 9-0-0. Re-nominations 02:02:50 Dr. Metzler recommended accepting the 2013-2014 continuing contract nominations for Pupil Personnel staff.

School Board Goals 02:15:13 Chairman Collins reviewed the current school board goals with the board. A Saturday retreat was discussed to address the current Capital Improvement Plan and other goals going forward. Motion: Mr. Mascola motioned to agree to schedule a school board retreat on a Saturday to address school board goals including but not limited to Capital Improvement Plan. Mr. Barczak seconded. The transportation RFP has been prepared and sent to five competitors with bid opening scheduled for April 19th at 2 PM at the SAU office. Motion: Mrs. Kosta motioned to approve the one year leave of absence for the 2013-2014 school year for Danielle Herman. Mr. Barczak seconded. With no further discussion the motion passed by a vote of 9-0-0.
