Dear potential community partner,

The Donelson-Hermitage Family YMCA would like to thank you for your interest in our

mission as a worldwide charitable fellowship united by a common loyalty to Jesus Christ for

the purpose of helping people grow in spirit, mind and body. Working together we will

reach so many and offer Hope for Life by inspiring youth, improving health, serving others

and creating community.

The YMCA provides an environment where people of all ages, faiths, races, backgrounds

and abilities work toward building friendships, experiencing the joy of helping others, and

achieving their God-given fullest potential in spirit, mind and body.

It is only through the generous donations of those like you that make our life changing

programs possible. Every penny you give goes toward our outreach programs with nothing

used for administration cost.

When you give to the Y, you continue to strengthen our community and move us all

forward. As the nation's leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social

responsibility, the Y uses your gift to make a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own

neighborhood.

Thank you again for taking the time to learn about the YMCA and Community Partnerships.

Please, won’t you join us?

Gratefully yours,

BJ Keener Angela Mathis Frye

OUR VISION

To offer Hope for Life to people of all ages, faiths, races, backgrounds and abilities, regardless of

their socio-economic circumstances. Through a range of relationship-focused, impactful programs,

services, partnerships and collaborations, we will offer hope throughout Middle Tennessee and

southern Kentucky by:

INSPIRING YOUTH

By 2020, a third of the youth in our community will experience a sense of belonging through the

YMCA, and we will increase our efforts to impact youth in underserved communities, especially those

who are most challenged educationally and socio-economically. Recognizing the fundamental role

literacy plays in positive youth development, all YMCA children and teens will read at grade level.

IMPROVING HEALTH

Our YMCA will offer a path for all to live healthier in spirit, mind and body. Twenty percent of

adults in our community (1 in 5) will improve their health through the YMCA and our community's

youth obesity rate will be cut in half by 2020.

SERVING OTHERS

We will support a culture of philanthropy that recognizes the mutual benefit that results through the

sharing of time, talent or financial resources and will engage a quarter of a million people in service

to others through the YMCA by 2020.

CREATING COMMUNITY

Our YMCA will provide opportunities for people to make meaningful connections with one another to

enrich lives, renew the spirit and foster a sense of belonging. By 2020, 1 in 3 people in our

community will be involved in the YMCA.

OUR STRENGTH IS IN COMMUNITY

At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-

side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income

or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. The Y is a

nonprofit like no other. That’s because in 10,000 neighborhoods across the

nation, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but

deliver, positive change.

The Y is community centered. For nearly 135 years, we’ve been listening

and responding to our communities.

The Y brings people together. We connect people of all ages and

backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs.

The Y nurtures potential. We believe that everyone should have the

opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

The Y has local presence and global reach. We mobilize local communities

to effect lasting, meaningful change.

OUR IMPACT IS FELT EVERY DAY

With a mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that

build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all, our impact is felt when an

individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when a

community comes together for the common good.

Page 5: 2015 Partnership Packet - General

At the Donelson-Hermitage Family YMCA, we provide programs, services and initiatives designed to

help everyone in our community to learn, grow and thrive. In the process, we enable children and teens

to reach their potential, empower people of all ages to be healthier in spirit, mind and body and

support neighbors in need.

At our family YMCA, we offer a wide range of programs and classes – enough to keep the whole family

busy. We offer free fitness classes like Zumba® and cycling, Body Pump®, R.I.P.P.E.D. ®, Dance Blast,

step aerobics, Pilates, yoga, water aerobics and kick boxing. In addition to group exercise, we offer to

expansive Wellness floors with a variety of cardio and strength training machines. Free equipment

orientations can be scheduled at your convenience. In addition, we also offer free Polar Fit testing as

well as free personalized fitness programs through our 3-N-1 program. Personal trainers are also on

staff for those that need more one-on-one with a fitness professional.

While you exercise, your kids get to have their own fun in Y-Play or Youth Activity Center (YAC). They

even have their own fitness class – Cardio Kids Blast – every Monday – Wednesday. Y-Play and YAC

are geared towards kids ages 6 weeks to 12 years old and is programmed with activities and exercise

for the children so they can have fun while getting some much needed exercise. Youth programming

at the Y strives to keep kids healthy and active every day.

At the Donelson Y, we have 2 pools to use – both indoor (heated) and outdoor – in addition to our

sauna and steam room. With extensive aquatics programming, the YMCA is the place for you to come

year round to exercise or just get in the pool and have fun. We offer private and group swim lessons,

aquatics fitness classes, free swim, swim team (USA Swimming, Nashville Swim League and YMCA

Middle TN Association) and pool rentals.

Our center also has one of the largest youth sports programs in the association with around 3000

children involved in soccer, baseball, indoor soccer and basketball throughout the year. We also offer

summer camps, school break camps, cheerleading, dance, music lessons and martial arts.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Page 6: 2015 Partnership Packet - General

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Our outreach programs are intended to the fill the gaps left by other

community programs. Our outreach programs are fully funded by the generous donations

of community members and sponsors with nothing going toward administration or

operational costs. At the Donelson YMCA, we have the following outreach programs:

FULL CIRCLE

Full circle provides social and recreational opportunities to help children with special needs grow in

spirit, mind and body. Offered as a free service to YMCA members ages 3–21 with special needs, the

year-round program’s services include swim lessons and sports such as spring and fall soccer,

basketball and kickball. We have also begun offering social and recreational opportunities for our

adult members with special needs, including weekly game time and a walking club.

AFTER BREAST CANCER (ABC)*

After Breast Cancer provides comprehensive nutrition, exercise and wellness services free of charge

to breast cancer patients and survivors. During the 16-week program, participants receive full

access to the Y, a custom wellness plan design by a Pink Ribbon Certified Personal trainer, nutrition

counseling from a registered dietitian and encouragement and support from caring staff members as

well as fellow breast cancer survivors. (This program is serves our center but is based out of the

Southern Hills YMCA.)

LEARN TO SWIM (LTS)

The YMCA Learn to Swim Program teaches basic life sustaining swimming skills to first

grade students in Nashville. Through a partnership with Metro Nashville Public

Schools, students are bused to one of six YMCA pools, including the Donelson-

Hermitage YMCA, to participate in swim lessons free of charge during their normal P.E. time.

Through this program, more than 75 percent of participants gain the skills needed to prevent

themselves from drowning.

OPEN DOORS

Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age,

income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Last year, the YMCA of Middle

Tennessee provided more than $14 million in charitable subsidies and other forms of financial

assistance locally. At the Donelson-Hermitage Family YMCA, financial subsidies/scholarships are

offered for our Sports, Camp (including Camp Little Y) and Swim Lessons programs. Such assistance

is only made possible thanks to generous contributions to the Annual Giving Campaign. Financial

assistance assures that no one is ever turned away from the YMCA, or its programs, based upon

their ability to pay.

IMPRESSIONS

The Donelson-Hermitage Family YMCA provides thousands of impression opportunities

every day. Your sponsorship will be exposed to approximately 13,300 members in addition

to their guests. Every day, 1,600 members walk into our facility and will see our

acknowledgement of your support of the mission and work of the YMCA and your

commitment to our community.

ANNUAL CELEBRATION

Every year, our volunteers, donors, community

leaders and staff come together to celebrate how

our YMCA supports our growing community

through the Annual Giving Campaign. Last year,

over $750,000 was given in assistance to serve

over 13,000 children, families and adults who

need our Y the most. 100% of the money raised

for our Annual Campaign goes directly to serve

those in need in our community.
