WELCOME TO BATTLE GROUND ACADEMY SUMMER CAMPS!Battle Ground Academy is a college preparatory school dedicated to developing the intellectual, moral, creative and physical aspects of each student and to assisting students in the realization of their potential for personal fulfillment and service to others.

We have something for everyone this summer! Camps range from academic to athletics, enrichment and art – all age appropriate and directed by a BGA coach/teacher or camp professional. This summer we are offering over 60 camp options from June 1 through July 31. Half-day and full-day combo camps are available with lunch(Check page 26 and 27 for Combo Camp Information). Our Summer camp programs are open to all in the Middle Tennessee area. For families needing additional care, early-care and after-care are available for an additional fee. Cancellation/Withdrawal Policy BGA reserves the right to cancel a camp if the minimum number of participants do not sign up for the camp. A full refund will be given in the event of such cancellation.

A $50 registration fee will be charged for a camper withdrawal except in the case of a camp or class cancellation. The fee is non-refundable. If the withdrawal is received less than 14 days prior to the start of camp, the processing fee is 50% of the cost of the camp. Once the camp has started, we cannot issue any refunds.

ATHLETIC CAMPSAll-Sports Camp

BGA All Sports Camp July 6-9, 1pm-4pm, Grades K-6, $120, $140 at the door

Location: BGA Middle School Gym, Minimum 10 Participants

Do you LOVE sports? If so, this is the camp for you! Coach Wells invites you to be part of this fun-filled week! Campers will spend the day playing various sports such as basketball, baseball, bowling, kick ball, soccer, football, tennis, jump rope, Ultimate Frisbee, and more! You won’t want to miss this incredible week. Please make sure to wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes. Bring your water bottles because we are going to be moving!

Come and enjoy a full day of fun sports activities. Campers will spend the day playing various sports such as basketball, baseball, kick ball, soccer, football, tennis, jump rope, Ultimate Frisbee, and more!

ArcheryArchery Camp

This camp is designed for anyone who has never shot a bow or for those that have previous experience. This camp will allow you take your shooting to the next level using correct techniques developed by Kisik Lee, Head Coach of the USA Olympic Archery Team. Danny Willoughby earned his USA Archery Level-4 Coaching certification directly under Coach Lee at the Olympic Training Center. Students will learn the fundamentals of archery, types of bows, competition opportunities, and about archery clubs. All equipment will be furnished including, bows, arrows, targets, and safety equipment. Please bring a water bottle and sun screen. This will be an exciting and safe camp.

BaseballBaseball I - Fundamentals

June 15-18, K-8 • 9am – 12pm • $120, $140 at the doorLocation: Fleming-Wilt Baseball Facility

Led by Battle Ground Academy coaching staff, this camp is designed to improve baseball skills. With a player to coach ration of 10:1, each camp-er will receive direct instruction to help them reach their full potential. This is a very fun and challenging camp.

Baseball II - Advanced Baseball (Tues – Thurs. only)

June 9-11, 12:30pm-3:30pm, Grades 5-12 , $120, $140 at the door Location: Fleming-Wilt Baseball Facility

This camp is designed for the player who aspires to play at the High School and College Level. This camp will cover advanced fielding, hitting, pitching and catching instruction. The coaching staff has 15 years of College playing and coaching experience. Campers will be exposed to former high school and College players for day-to-day instruction and will have the opportunity to have a question and answer session with current college coaches.

CheerLittle Wildcat Cheerleading

June 15-19, 9:30am-12pm, Grades K-5, $90

Join Premier Athletics for an exciting day of cheerleading skills, chants, dance and tumbling. Premier Athletics has the best cheer and tumbling instructors around. They provide service to approximately 500 kids a week in the ages of K-5th grade. Premier will provide a 10-1 athlete to instructor ratio for the camp. The campers will learn cheers and chants each day and the words will be provided to all athletes on note cards to keep. Campers will learn an age appropriate cheer dance the first 4 days of camp with music and will perform dance on the last day of camp. Join us for exciting week of fun!

Dodge BallDodge Ball Camp

July 13-16, 1pm-4pm, Grades 1-8 Co-ed, $100

Can you throw? Catch? Move? If you can do all three, then you can play dodge ball. Dodge ball is a challenging game that increases athlete’s hand eye coordination, mental awareness of their surroundings and offers a great cardio workout. Come join us, as Coach Carlisle, Coach Klausner, and Coach Mitchell sponsors dodge ball for three hours a day Monday through Thursday! Please note the camp will use aero foam balls. Football

Football Non-Padded Camp June 1-4, 9am-12pm, Grades K-8, $120, $140 at the door

Location: Guffee-Brown Stadium

BGA Head Football coach Roc Batten and his staff lead an exciting camp focusing on technique and fundamentals. The BGA football coaching staff has experience coaching and playing on the high school, college and professional level. This football camp is a fit for kids interested in improving their skills at any level from beginner to experience. This is a non-padded camp and campers will have an opportunity to improve skills while having fun. Please bring a labeled water bottle and wear tennis shoes or cleats.

Advanced Football Skills CampAdvanced Football Skills Camp - Quarterback/Receiver

June 9-11 (Tues. – Thurs.), 4:15-6:00pm, Grades 5-12, $125, $135 at the door

Location: Jewell Athletic & Wellness Center/Guffee-Brown Stadium

BGA Head Coach Roc Batten and assistant coaches will help aspiring quarterbacks, receivers and defensive backs hone their skills in this specialty camp. Boys will be instructed on proper quarterback mechanics including throwing motion, release and footwork. Receivers will get instruction on proper route running technique and catching. This is a must for young players preparing for middle school or high school players wanting to improve skills for the fall.

Football Contact Camp July 14-16, 4:30pm-6:30pm, Grades 1-8, $80, $90 at the door

Location: Guffee-Brown Stadium

BGA Varsity Football Head Football Coach Roc Batten and coaches from BGA middle school and high school staff will lead a full pads camp. The Camp is open to grades 1-8, participants will work on the fundamentals of blocking, tackling and core positional skills. The BGA football coaching staff has experience coaching and playing on the high school, college and professional level. Bring your own mouth guard and cleats, the pads will be provided for students participating in BGA 5th through 8th grade football program. Non-BGA participants should bring their own pads.

Boys’ BasketballBoys’ Basketball Skills

BGA Head Coach David Peden, Staff, and high school players will lead this camp. We will work on fundamentals and translate this into game play. We will have fun while learning the fundamentals of basketball. Basketball players of all levels of experience are welcome to participate in this fun and exciting camp to improve your skills!

BGA Advanced Post Camp

June 18-19, 9am-11am, Grades 5-12(Boys & Girls), $115

This is an advanced camp for those looking to take their inside game to the next level. Topics covered will include: positioning footwork, offensive moves and defensive tactics. Instruction will be by BGA coaches, with over 40 years combined experience at both the high school and college level, geared to grades 5-12 and will include video analysis to equip players to continue their development beyond the camp.

Girls’ BasketballGirls’ Basketball Skills

BGA girls’ basketball camps…where players are made!!! A strong emphasis will be placed on the fundamentals of the game, and there will be plenty of opportunities to transfer those fundamentals to game play situations. Don’t miss this chance to learn the game in a positive and challenging environment.

Kick-BallKick-Ball Camp

July 13-16, 9am-12pm, Grades 1-8 Co-ed, $100Location: Middle School Gym & Middle School Athletic Field

KICKBALL CAMP! This is not your typical, regular, old kickball game. Come and join us for a week full of new and improved kickball. We will start this week by learning the basic skills of kickball and turning that into new, fun, and crazy ways to play. We will learn a variety of different ways to play this classic game. There will be versions such as Big Base Kickball, Line Kickball, Soccer-Base-Basketball Kickball, One Base Kickball, and more. We are excited to run and play all day and can’t wait for you to join us.

BGA Varsity Coaches Rob Mitchell, Jan Morrissey and Steve Lape will offer their expertise to this camp geared to the more advanced soccer player. Our boys and girls soccer coaches have competed and coached at the highest levels – leading BGA to several state championships in recent years. The camp will feature both technical and tactical aspects of the game for field players and goalkeepers. The camp is offered to boys and girls. Campers will need to bring a ball, water bottle, shin guards, socks for shin guards, sunscreen and cleats/turfs.

Location: Stewart Campbell Track and Soccer Complex

BGA Varsity coaches Jan Morrissey, Rob Mitchell, and Steve Lape will lead this popular camp. All campers will be divided by age group and/or skill level. Our boys and girls soccer coaches have competed and coached at the highest levels – leading BGA to several state championships in recent years. The camp will feature age appropriate technical and tactical aspects to the game for field players. The camp is offered to both boys and girls of the elementary or middle school age. July 20-23, 9am-12pm, Grade 2-8, $120, $140 at the door Location: Stewart Campbell Track and Soccer Complex

BGA Head Coach Charlie Manning and staff will lead this popular camp. This camp will focus on core fundamental skills of softball including pitching, fielding, base running, bunting, and hitting. We will work in stations on all areas to enhance core softball skills. Participants should bring softball glove, bat(if you have one), wear cleats/bring indoor athletic shoes as well, hat, water bottle and sunscreen.

TennisTennis Fundamentals

For those interested in learning the sport of tennis or for improving and mastering the basics, this is the camp! BGA tennis coaches will give instruction on basic strokes, rules, scoring and etiquette in a fun and friendly environment. This is the perfect camp for novice players, or for those who have never even picked up a racquet who want to learn to play tennis. Sign up today to master the basics and get started! VolleyballVolleyball Skills Camp

July 20-23, 1pm-4pm, Grades 2-8, $120, $140 at the doorLocation: Cherry Sports Center

BGA Varsity Volleyball staff and middle school coaching staff will share their volleyball knowledge with young ladies in grades 2-8. Campers will be divided up based on age/skill level and will focus on specific aspects of volleyball geared to their abilities through drills and games. The camp will focus on individual skill development in passing, serving, and attacking, along with an introduction to offensive and defensive terminology. By the end of this camp each player will have a better understanding of the game of volleyball as a whole!

WrestlingWrestling Camp

This camp is designed for the wrestler who aspires to learn more about the sport of wrestling, reach his full potential and wrestle at the high school level. Coach Morriello and his staff will led the camp through each wrestling position through drills, live wrestling and games. This camp is great for experienced and new wrestlers alike.

BGA ACADEMIC, ARTS & ENRICHMENT CAMPSAcademic

ACT Test PrepJune 8-12, Grades 11-12, 10am-11:45pm, $195

Location: Middle School Academic BuildingMinimum-8, Maximum-25

This course will equip students with skills to help them prepare for the ACT Test. All materials will be provided and we will cover everything from test taking strategies to specific problems and answers. Handouts will be provided for the students to take home that will have all hints, strategies, and specific content covered on them. This camp will help students work toward their goals and get more comfortable with the ACT exam.

“Be sure to study for the test on Friday!” What does that REALLY mean? Students often need more than just the guidance they get in the classroom as they navigate the road of study skills. We will provide campers with strategies that are most compatible with their learning style. Campers will learn to get organized, take good notes, and study effectively!

If art is where your heart is, then this will be a great camp for you to enjoy and explore various mediums. Come prepared to enjoy many facets of art while creating many take home treasures. More than just crafts, this camp will explore different types of art using all types of materials while examining many different art styles.

Art, Animals and OutsideSession I - June 8-12, 9am-11:30am, Grades 2-5, $150

This creative camp for kids 2nd-5th grade will combine making awesome Art in the classroom while exploring Animals in the Outdoors. Three days during the week, students will work on sculpting, painting and drawing various animals and natural forms in the classroom. Two days students will travel to Bowie Nature Park & Edwin Warner Park to hike & explore trails and wildlife that artfully occupy our world. This camp is the perfect combination of creativity & activity for any child!

You can work with just about any material of choice and Ms. Parker, HS/MS Art teacher, will help facilitate your creative process. Mrs. Logan, your instructor, is a commissioned artist, member of The Portrait Society of America and a past member of the Tennessee Art League. Want to jumpstart your songwriting? SongBoost is for you. This course is designed to take your creativity from 0-60 in two day sessions. Jeff Dayton will inspire and energize your approach with tips from the Music Row writers’ rooms. Lyrics, melody, hooks and themes will all be part of your journey to writing better songs. Dayton was Glen Campbell’s bandleader/guitarist for 15 years and toured with Kenny Chesney, Lee Greenwood and Sarah Darling. His songs have been recorded by George Strait, Doug Stone and more. Jeff is also a busy studio musician and producer, with credits from Campbell to Buck Owens and many more.

This camp is for rising Kindergarten students. Your child will become acquainted with their new school, teachers, routines, and curriculum. Driver’s Education - Brentwood Drivers Training June 1-5, 8:30am – 4:00pm (2:30 Dismissal on Friday), $425

Minimum-5, Maximum-25Location: Middle School Commons

BGA is excited to offer a Driver Education program through Brentwood Driver Training. The entire course is completed in one week and consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. The classroom will be held on the Battle Ground Academy campus for five days from 8:30-4:00 (2:30 dismissal on Friday). The driv-ing lessons will be done from class during class, with some lessons possi-bly after class. Everyone that completes this course will receive a driver’s education certificate good for an insurance discount. When taking this course you can be exempt from taking the tests at the Driver Testing Station (see eligibility). You can take the driver’s ed course when you are 14 years of age. You must be 15 by the last day of your class to test for the learner’s permit through Brentwood Driver Training.

Permit/License Eligibility:

• If you are fifteen or will turn fifteen by the last day of your class, you may test for your Learners Permit with us.

• If you are sixteen or will turn sixteen within six months after the class, and you already have a learners permit, you may test for your Drivers License with us.

• The 3rd party certificate you receive from us, which exempts you from testing at the Drivers Testing Station, is given in addition to the Drivers Ed Certificate of Completion used for insurance discounts. The 3rd party certificate is valid for 180 days (approx. 6 months) after issuance.

• We do not guarantee a permit or license just by attending our course. You must also successfully pass the test we give for permit or license.

Electronic Game Design: Tower Defense GamesJune 8-12, 1pm-4pm, Grades 3-8, $190

Location: Middle School Academic Building

During the Electronic Game Design Tower Defense classes, students will use Multimedia Fusion 2® to create their own video game. A tower defense game is one in which the programmer creates towers to defend a base which fires at passing enemies. At the end of the class, students take home a copy of the game they create.

This is the most fun you can have at a crime scene! Kids collect clues, identify suspects and solve crimes. This camp offers tons of cool science experiments with DNA, finger printing, fiber analysis, anatomy and much more. Kids will get their own CSI equipment to keep. CAMP BRICK - On Your Mark…Get Set…Build July 20-24, 9am-12pm Grades K-8, $200

This camp is designed for the child who is already building LEGO® sets with instructions independently. Campers will chose from hundreds of themed sets from which to build. Themes such as Star Wars, CITY, Ninjago, CHIMA, Atlantis, Agents, LEGO® Movie and more. Campers will be seated by age group and will be encouraged to build independently as well as in small groups on larger projects such as the Death Star and The Taj Mahal. The Camp Brick staff will assist your child if needed and offer helpful building tips as your child builds and displays their creations. A few times during the week campers may enjoy some social games and contests for prizes. At the end of the day campers will display their creations for parents to view. Bring a camera!!
