Accommodations in Novo mesto The city of Novo mesto has two residence halls for students: Situla is located in the city centre, the other is located in Šmihel (near the railway station), which is fully renovated and offers both single study rooms and double-bed rooms and apartments. Students can also enjoy the authentic cuisine that allows you to pay with student meal vouchers. Seize your free time at a variety of sports activities (sports park Loka and Portoval, sports hall Marof and Leon Štukelj, Gorjanci, Krka River) or cultural events (Cultural Centre Janez Trdina, Anton Podbevšek Theatre, Simulaker gallery, museum). For evening entertainment you can visit cinema, youth centre LokalPatriot with various rock and pop concerts, different bars and restaurants or attend one of the many international festivals such as Fotopub, Jazzinty, Summer evenings in Novo mesto, etc. Employment prospects Informatics is the heart of our development and our graduates have a lot of employment opportunities, while successfully achieving goals in the workplace. The combination of an extensive range of knowledge in the field of information and communication technologies in interaction with the research methods and a wide variety of social science skills provides student jobs in the region as well as elsewhere in Slovenia and abroad. Programming skills are nowadays in many enterprises the basis for functioning as well as a being able to communicate in a foreign language. Our graduates can work in: • a company that works within the information and communication technologies (ICT), • a department for informatics, • an organization which carries out work in the field of ICT and other business functions, • a public institutions that use ICT or study the link between ICT and society, • an organization that retrieves and statistically analyses the data for the purposes of marketing, sale, public relations, identifying of public opinion, • a primary and secondary schools as teachers of informatics, • own start-up company to develop new applications and programs. Supercomputer Rudolf Become a student and researcher who creates information technology. Participate in projects of the faculty, where we use modern supercomputer Rudolf - fast and efficient technology for calculations and simulations. Faculty of information studies (FIS) is the first public faculty in Novo mesto and allows students to study at all three levels. The full-time study is free of charge. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS for 1 cycle study programmes st Anyone who passed the general matura exam or vocational exam in any secondary school programme (to apply to the Academic study programme students who finished vocational programme must carry out at least one of the General Matura subjects) or anyone finished any four-year secondary school programme before 1 June 1995. st • A personal approach towards students, working in small groups, tutoring. • A wide range of courses with "state-of-the-art" knowledge. • Schedules adjusted to employed students who are enrolled in full-time study. • E-classrooms supported study. • Web office for students, notification via FB and Twitter. • Qualified academic staff (young and professional lecturers and assistants). • Exciting extracurricular activities (summer schools, excursion, visiting foreign lecturers, sport events, social evenings, etc.).
