After nearly four decades of serving local businesses, we’ve seen our share of changes, both in our community and our industry. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s how you adapt to change that matters most. That means growing and evolving with the times. But it also means knowing what not to change. Like our unwavering commitment to the people we serve. Like banking practices that foster stability and intelligent growth. Like a deep connection to our business community built on long-term relationships and lasting bonds.
It’s exactly these qualities that make Montecito Bank & Trust the bank of choice for so many local businesses. A partner that has the capacity to meet your needs. The resources and flexibility to develop solutions that fit your business. And a history of being responsive so you can make the most of every opportunity. If you would like to work with a bank you can count on for many years to come, we invite you to join us at Montecito Bank & Trust. We continue to grow and thrive – and to take life’s inevitable changes in stride. Just like you.

Thanks to the Chamber AmbassadorsIn addition to attending their monthly
meetings, the Ambassadors are business owners (just like you), yet throughout the year, they find time to volunteer their services at CVCC spon-sored community events, fundraisers, business meetings and ribbon cuttings. Ambassadors are
always willing to share information regarding what the CVCC can do to make your busi-ness grow and your membership an asset.
Thanks Ambassadors, we could not do Chamber business without you!

A heart-felt welcome to each of you! Within the pages of this beautiful directory are treasures of information about our city, its businesses and our very special Carpinteria Valley. Keep it at your fingertips for easy access to local businesses, government services and recreational opportunities. You will find new and helpful information, whether you are a long time resident, a newer community or business member, or simply visiting our beautiful and unique valley.
As Chamber members, we believe in our community and businesses. We encourage local shopping because it builds a strong and vibrant Carpinteria economy. Shopping locally returns dollars to Carpinteria. Those dollars benefit all of us - business owners, residents, visitors who spend their money in this community and city government, which maintains our parks, roads, and other amenities. At the national level, we talk of buying American; in Carpinteria, we say, “Buy local!” Please contact us if you’d like to become more involved with your Carpinteria Valley Chamber. Enjoy Carpinteria!

Glenn Dubock StoryGlenn is passionate
about his photography and is a professional photographer who fo-cuses on sports action, and there is plenty of it in our area. Along with the sports action works he offers an amazing “around Carpinteria (and beyond)” portfolio at Dubock.com.
Glenn is a regular contributor to DEEP Magazine as well as the Carpinteria Magazine.
He is proud to be featured on the front cover, as well as throughout, the Carpinteria Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 2014-15 Destination Guide and Business Directory.
Glenn moved to Carpinteria in 1976 and resides with his wife, Kathy (a teacher at Santa Barbara Junior High School). In addition to his photographic talents, he is also Media Services Coordinator for Cottage Health System.
Glenn’s favorite saying is: “If you’re rich you live in Santa Barbara, if you’re famous you live in Montecito and if you’re LUCKY you live in Carpinteria.”
Glenn can be reached through Dubock.com or email at [email protected]
Carpinteria invites you to feel, taste, and savor the difference between a city and a true California beach town. You will note that banners posted throughout the downtown area, incorporate a simple message, “Shop, Play, Dine and Stay.”
The banners were designed and printed by the local Flag Factory. In response to the City’s Parking and Business Improvement Area Advisory Board’s (now renamed Downtown-T Business Advisory
Board (DTBAB)) idea that each visitor, local citizen and business would be welcomed with the same important message, namely buying local helps this beach town support itself.
The banners are displaye d year-round and encourage local businesses to proudly display their company’s name, as a sponsorship. If you have a business and wish to be part of the street banner program, please call the City of Carpinteria at (805) 684-5405.

You’re invited to spend a day or longer in Carpinteria. We boast the ‘World’s Safest Beach’, and one of the few classic beach towns in California. Hop on the electric Seaside Shuttle, and check us out. To try your hand at kayaking and surfing, call the Carpinteria Boathouse at (805) 684-7613, or email [email protected]. Visit Ohana Toy Company (Carpinteria & Palm Aves) for stand-up paddleboards and a wide variety of toys for all ages. Stop at the famous “The Spot” for a delicious burger on Linden Ave, near the beach. Got kids? A trip to the Tomol Interpretative Play Area and trail on Linden Ave is a must (pg 77). Call Stardust Sportfishing at (805) 963-3564 to book an exciting day on the ocean for you and your friends. Or join the fun with “Eat This, Shoot That” for guided walking food and photo tours in nearby Santa Barbara.
Walkers and hikers are invited to take the trail through the Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Park or tackle the Franklin Hiking Trail, winding up into the foothills. Carpinteria has several public parks created for picnics, walking, hiking, rock climbing, or relaxing (pg 77).
A visit to the Carpinteria Valley Museum of History (Maple Ave) explores our town’s surprising past. Check out the offerings at Curtis Studio of Dance (9th St) or Studio B Dance (Carpinteria Ave) just for fun!
Stop by Robitaille’s Fine Candies (Linden Ave), or Chocolats du CaliBressan (Carpinteria Ave) for ‘don’t miss sweet treats.’ Also, take your sweet tooth to Crushcakes & Café (Carpinteria Ave). Carp Sports and Do It Best Hardware (Casitas Plaza) offer great deals on beach and camping equipment. Casitas Valley Creamery is ready to schedule your visit to see freshly made cheese products for purchase by calling (805) 649-8179.
The ‘Harbor Seal Rookery,’ (off Bailard Ave) is busy between December and May, when seal pups and their parents rest on the warm sand below. Stop nearby for an All American Surf Dog at the flagged cart near the rookery. The Carpinteria Community Pool (corner of Carpinteria and Palm Aves), features open public swim hours or you may reserve a public tennis court, by calling (805) 566-2417.
Browse the Ark Pet & Supply (Casitas Plaza) or Lemos Feed & Pet Supply (Carpinteria Ave) and buy your ‘best friend’ a treat.
Visit Carpinteria’s world famous nurseries, gardens, floral and garden designers found on (pgs 10, 43, 48). Log onto plazatheatercarpinteria.com for the entertainment schedule at the Plaza Play-house Theater on Carpinteria Ave. Remember that the Santa Barbara Zoo is just up Highway 101. Visit Our State BeachCarpinteria State Beach has something for
everyone. In addition to beach front camping, picnicking, surfing, fishing, family friendly activities and sunset beach strolls, the park boasts examples of tidepools rich in sea life and the second largest active tar seep in California. The visitor center houses a “living tidepool” with ocean themed displays including artifacts and realistic scenes of Chumash life. Attend campfire programs in the summer months as park rangers and guest speakers share the natural and cultural history of Carpinteria. Visit carpinteriachamber.org or friendsofccsp.org for more campfire program information. Campfire program parking is free to local Carpinterians. Learn more at www.parks.ca.gov
Tomol Interpretive Play Area & Trail
This unique interpretive park located on Linden Ave (one block from the beach), features a Chumash Village, Tomol boat and native hut replicas. Children of any age are sure to enjoy jumping, running, sliding and climbing in an environment built to emulate pre-European life on the California Channel Islands. Look for the “Rainbow Bridge,” which is a wonderful element found in the center of the play area.
Thanks to an ongoing partnership with the Rotary Club of Carpinteria Morning, the City of Carpinteria, California’s State Parks and the supportive community, a trail connects Carpinteria State Beach Park, and the Tomol Interpretive Play Area. This encourages visitors and locals to take a pleasant walk into the heart of Carpinteria’s downtown.

Carpinteria Valley Chamber of Commerce (CVCC) holds its member-ship, board of directors, ambassadors and staff to high ethical and business standards, which were set more than 100 years ago in 1912, when the CVCC was chartered.
The CVCC’s Mission:
The Carpinteria Valley Chamber of Commerce is an organization of businesses united to create a strong local economy and a positive quality of life by representing business to govern-ment, promoting the community, providing networking opportunities and supporting a sustainable future for business and economic development.
What does this mean to the membership?
The CVCC is committed to member businesses in our local community and those with memberships along the south coast. This commitment extends well beyond the usual services, for these reasons:
Via the CVCC’s Governmental Relations Director, a strong leadership role at the CVCC continually maintains a consistent voice to influence local, countywide, state and federal legis-lative policy makers to support local business. In addition, with a member-ship in the Chambers of Commerce Alliance (CCA), the CVCC increases its influence regionally, throughout
Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Keep up to date by reading “Frankly Speaking” each month in the CVCC printed Newsletter and also available at carpinteriachamber.org.
CVCC’s members have opportu-nities to build new clientele through participation in: Business@Breakfast (networking), placing promotional articles, ads and inserts in the CVCC Monthly printed Newsletter, attending Business-After-Hours Mixers, joining the CVCC’s volunteer Ambassa-dors and placing banner ads on the CVCC website, and in the Chamber’s annual ‘Destination Guide & Business Directory.’
CVCC members have found that their sponsorships significantly increased brand awareness during the Annual Golf Tournament, State of the Community Breakfast, Annual Community Awards Banquet, Busi-ness@Breakfast networking events and Business-After-Hours Mixers each month. The Chamber’s social media outreach also adds member benefit. The CVCC’s ‘Carp…Interesting’ elec-tronic e-blast, goes out to 1500 busi-nesses each week with community event, training opportunities and business related updates.
Finally, the CVCC’s website @ carpinteriachamber.org, allows busi-nesses to be showcased 24/7/365, to locals and visitors.

Green is Goodfor Business
Earning a certificate from the Green Business Program of Santa Barbara County means that you have made a commitment to our community and the future success of your business...
...a commitment to go above and beyond typical green measures and lead the way in sustainable business practices.
For more information and to see a list of certified businesses, visit our website at:

By Frances GillilandGreen Business Program
The Green Business Program of Santa Barbara County (GBPSBC) is a county-wide effort to recognize businesses that go above and beyond required measures to serve as models of sustainability and to help businesses save money by saving water, energy and reducing waste. Businesses address waste reduction and recycling, environ-mentally preferable purchasing, energy efficiency and conservation, water conservation, air pollution prevention, and alternative trans-portation. The program is free, voluntary, and offers assistance and incentives. Certified Green Businesses display a window decal, and consumers can search for businesses on the program’s website.
The program currently offers certification for the office/retail sector, restaurants, automotive shops, and hotels. Carpinteria Green Businesses include the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District, lynda.com and Whimsy Antiques.
To see a complete list of all certified Green Businesses and to learn more about becoming a Green Business, visit greenbizsbc.org.

California Cut Flower CommissionAre the flowers on your table as local as the
food on your plate? If you’re not looking for the “CA Grown”
label or buying flowers at your local farmers’ market, chances are high that those flowers were imported from South America.
Today in the United States, approximately 80% of the flowers sold are imported from countries like Colombia and Ecuador. A recent study by the California Cut Flower Commission found that 58% of flower buyers would prefer to buy California Grown flowers over imported flowers, if given the choice. The good news is that you have that choice.
Carpinteria’s flower farms represent a very
special region of the state’s flower farms, not only because of the value of their production, but because of the value these farms bring to their community. For every $1 that a flower farmer earns, $.92 of that dollar goes right back into the local economy. The flower farmers of Santa Barbara County also contribute $648.3 million out of the $10.3 billion impact that California’s flower farmers have on the state’s economy, generating approximately $21.1million in taxes to fund programs within the community.
So, the next time you’re buying flowers for that special someone, occasion or “just because,” look for the “CA Grown” label. That choice makes a difference.

Curtis Studio of Dance (CSD) is a multidis-ciplinary school of dance founded in 1973. It is their goal to provide exemplary and challenging dance instruction, and to provide, not only for the students, but the community at large, quality experiences in dance performance and arts education.
Instruction is geared to produce technically sound, injury-free dancers, in a caring environ-ment with emphasis on building self-esteem and the development of essential social skills. CSD has a lifelong policy of providing classes
for every willing and able student, regardless of financial or physical constraints. This extends to integrating children with disabilities into regular dance classes of all levels, giving CSD a unique standing in the community.
CSD employs highly acclaimed teachers in the dance industry who have enjoyed long and successful performing and teaching careers, bridging the gap between recreational dance and the possibility of a career in the performing arts. 2013 Large Business of the Year:
NuSil Technology is a global leader in designing and developing silicone compounds for the healthcare, aerospace and electronics industries. Founded in 1979, as a small start-up NuSil has grown to be one of the largest employers in the Carpinteria Valley. It operates state-of-the-art laboratories and manufacturing
facilities in California and Texas in addition to technical service centers in France and throughout Asia. NuSil’s seven building campus in the Carpinteria’s East Business Park, near Hwy 101 & Hwy 150 continues to be the base of its operations.
NuSil has a positive impact on the Carpinteria Valley via its involvement in the community, providing high value jobs and a consistent tax base. Throughout the years, NuSil has helped sponsor the purchase of the Carpinteria bluffs, the local fire district’s emer-gency response vehicle, upgrades to the community pool and much more. NuSil works closely with the Carpinteria-Summerland Fire Protection District and other agencies to further develop its commitment to protecting the environment, health and safety of its employees, customers and community.

With its lovely beaches, coastal hills, perfect climate, and relaxing atmosphere, Carpinteria is a beautiful place to vacation, live, and work. Our coastal city maintains its small town charm, family atmosphere and natural beauty. The broad sandy beaches are ideal for swimming, surfing, or strolling on the sand. From the beach we see amazing sunrises and sunsets, and views of the Channel Islands. We stroll through downtown Carpinteria to enjoy wonderful restaurants and shops.
In the past few years, the local real estate market has experienced a significant recovery from the effects of the recession. Purchasing property in this lovely community is one of the best investments one can make. We often hear visitors say they have been coming to Carpinteria for years and wish they had bought property long ago.
Whether your dream is a vacation getaway or a full-time home in a great town, there’s no time like the present. We look forward to meeting you during your visit. You will find a warm and vibrant community and make new friends in our seaside paradise.

Up to two children’s discounts are permitted in conjunction with each adult traveler. Amtrak, Enjoy the journey and Pacific Surfliner are registered service marks of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation.
Travel on Amtrak® this summer and rediscover family time. Kids ages 2-12 travel for 50% off the adult fare. The Pacific Surfliner® provides daily service to Carpinteria and connects with Amtrak long-distance
services in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. Visit Amtrak.com or AmtrakCalifornia.com.

Traveling around Carpinteria is a joy. From the Santa Barbara Airport or the Amtrak Surfliner (that stops in Carpinteria) to the electric-powered MTD Seaside Shuttle and bus services, Carpin-teria is almost ‘Car-Free’ thanks to SBCAG’s Traffic Solutions.
B egin with the S easide Shuttle which travels around town. Contact sbmtd.gov for schedules to take an alterna-tive-fuel powered bus or visit goventura.org for a Vista bus schedule to Santa Barbara and Ventura.
Reaching Carpinteria from Santa Barbara or Ventura on an Amtrak train is easy. If you fly into and out of LAX, check the schedule for the Santa Barbara Airbus, which stops in Carpin-teria. If you use the Burbank Bob Hope Airport use Amtrak to connect.
