Facility Member (FM)Allows full use of the Downtown and Dunigan Family YMCAs, including all membership benefits. Members also receive free or reduced pricing on programs.

Program Member (PM)Participants who enroll in individual YMCA programs (swim lessons, basketball, etc.) without being a Facility Member.

Refund PolicyFor YMCA programs, a credit or refund will be given before the first class. Participants have the option of receiving a credit or a cash refund for 80% of their fee. After the first class, refunds and credits are given for medical reasons only. Credits and refunds should be requested at the Member Service Desk or from the program director.

CHILD CAREParents Night OutHey Parents! Enjoy a night out and take the worry out of finding a babysitter. Children ages 3 to 12 will participate in fun activities, games, and crafts. A fun snack and drink will be provided. Children must be potty-trained. Children will be separated into age appropriate groups. Space is limited so please register by the Wednesday prior to the event.

YMCA Childcare for Ford Center EventsThe Downtown YMCA will be offering childcare to both YMCA members and the community during select Ford Center events. We will provide a range of activities for the children including inflatables, games, craft, and a small snack. This service is available for children ages 3-12 who are potty-trained. Childcare will be offered for up to 5 hours per event, accepting children one hour prior to the event’s posted start time. Space will be limited, so please sign up 3 days prior to the event. Cost is $20 for the first child, $10 for the second child, and $5 for each additional child. Please call for more information.

Safe SitterWould you know what to do if a child was choking while you were babysitting? Would you know how to call 911 or how to handle a nosebleed? Safe Sitters will learn all these things and more! Safe Sitter is a nationally recognized babysitting preparation program for boys and girls 11-13 years of age. Students need to bring their own lunch. Manual is included.

Half-Day Preschool EnrichmentWe provide an opportunity for children 3-5 years of age to participate in a half-day preschool program. Teachers will provide hands-on experience for your child while developing basic social and academic skills in a Christian environment. These classes run September through May and follow the EVSC school calendar. A non-refundable $40 deposit is due upon enrollment. Tuition is paid monthly and is due the first day of each month. Space is limited. Currently registering for the 2013-2014 school year. Our classes begin the week of September 3.

ARTS AND HUMANITIESExpress Yourself Art Classes for KidsOur art classes strive to meet both an educational and technical aspect of art while having fun with our students. The first summer session is all about fiber, fabric and fun. Students will learn about the origins and techniques of weaving while designing different color patterns and embellishments for their creations. The second summer session is a mixed media medley. Students will learn several different techniques including pen and ink drawing, printmaking and painting while also learning about famous artist John James Audubon. The subject matter will focus on birds in nature.

Boy Scout Troop AquaticsBring your Scout Troop to learn water safety, proper stroke technique, boating safety and other skills necessary for water related badge requirements. A trained YMCA lifeguard or swim instructor will assist you. Call to schedule your troop!

Girl Scout Journey ProgramThe YMCA has partnered with the Girl Scouts to offer programs that support the Girl Scout Journey Program. For a fee of $7 per scout, we’ll help you Discover, Connect and Take Action through various workshops and classes. Call the Y for more information.

YMCA 5K AND 10KThe first leg of the YMCA Series of Races, will be held on Saturday,August 10. These races start and finish at the Downtown YMCA.

SWIM, SPORTS, AND PLAYCompetitive Swimming and SportsRiptides Swim TeamOn the YMCA swim team, everyone is a champion. The emphasis is on having fun and doing one’s best. The team is open to all children ages 6-18. Swimmers must be able to complete 50 meters (2 lengths of the pool) without stopping, have the ability to swim freestyle and backstroke, and complete at least an hour practice. A free trial period is available for those kids who want to try the team for a week.

Youth Sports ProgramsZumbAtomic ® Exercise in disguise! This dance-fitness class is for ages 8-13. Classes are high-energy fitness-parties that offer real results. Packed with specially choreographed routines and the latest music, like hip-hop, reggaeton and cumbia, Zumbatomic classes increase focus and self-confidence, boost metabolism and improve coordination. Kids, join the fun and have a blast with us!

Y CheerleadingCheerleading is now at the Y! Cheerleading offers the opportunity for kids to develop self reliance and self confidence on an individual level while stressing the importance of teamwork within the squad. Cheerleaders will learn basic skills, chants, cheers, jumps and experience the performance aspect of cheerleading as cheer at the Youth Basketball games.

Level 2 GymnasticsNow that you have mastered the perfect cartwheel and fundamentals on the bars, beam, and vault, it is time to move onto the next level with this class. Emphasis will be placed on strength and flexibility as you move into more advanced skills and stations. Participants now add a one-hand cartwheel, 3 second handstand, back bend from a standing position and pull-over on bars.

Martial ArtsLittle Dragons This 30-minute Taekwondo class is designed for children ages 4-6. Participants will learn basic Taekwondo moves which help develop major motor skills.

Competitive Youth Basketball League Take your game to the next level with the YMCA Competitive Youth Basketball League. Our leagues are designed to assist players with the evolution of their individual skill level while enhancing their level of play in a fun, competitive and structured environment. Practices will be held on Tuesday evenings, games on Saturday evenings.

Youth Agility & Speed TrainingThis training is designed for student athletes wanting to increase speed, agility, vertical leap, quickness and conditioning in any sport. This training is available for one on one or group setting with Troy Sowders. Group rates are available.

Youth Basketball Personal TrainingTake your basketball game to the next level with 15 year veteran basketball trainer, Troy Sowders. As a basketball instructor, he has over 15,000 hours of personal training experience plus countless hours of camp, clinic, league and team instruction.

Join us for a swimYMCA lessons use a learn to swim progression from water orientation to stroke development that meets the needs of swimmers at all levels. For your family’s convenience, the Y offers twice a week and once a week sessions. The classes that meet twice a week will run for 4 weeks and classes that meet once a week will run for 6 weeks. During the summer we also offer two week sessions that meet Monday through Thursday.

Six week sessions begin the week of June 3 and July 15.Four week sessions begin the week of June 3, July 1 and July 29.Two week sessions begin June 3, June 17, July 1 and July 15.

The Y difference:

• Y swim lessons have a 1 to 4 ratio to allow for more time in the water.

• Convenient class days and times for parents to choose from.

• Participants learn water safety skills and stroke development in a fun and supportive environment.

Parent/Tot $40 (FM) / $60 (PM)(6-24 months of age) This class is designed to be a time that the parent spends with the child in the water. This is not a traditional swim lesson, and the children will not be taught to swim on their own. Both parents (and grandparents) are welcome to attend.

EVANSVILLEHALF MARATHON

The 10th annual Evansville Half Marathon, will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013. The race starts atop Reitz Hill and finishes on the riverfront. The 13.1 mile

course emphasizes the beautiful city view from Reitz Hill, travels through Garvin Park,around Bosse Field, the Greenway, the older neighborhoods around Bayard Park, the

downtown area and finishes on the riverfront.

Private/Semi-Private Swim InstructionPrivate swim instruction is available for those children who feel a one-on-one lesson with an instructor is preferred. Lessons are designed to give participants individualized attention in order to improve or master their swimming skills. Call to set up specific times and days and for semi private prices.

CampsSummer Day CampThe Y’s Day Camp programs provide youth ages 3-13 with supervised activities that teach core values, conflict resolution, and leadership skills. Community Marriage BuildersThe YMCA is offering “REVIVE”, a workshop from Community Marriage Builders for distressed couples. Participants will gain insight into their own expectations and behaviors, learn how to remove destructive behaviors, develop relational skills that are important in the building of a trustworthy and safe marriage. YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention ProgramLifestyle changes such as eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a modest amount of weight can prevent or delay the development of type 2 diabetes in those at high risk for the disease. The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can help you adopt and maintain these healthy habits to reduce your risk and ensure that you can live life to its fullest. In order to qualify for the program, you must be at least 18 years old, overweight (BMI ≥25) and at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes or have been diagnosed with pre diabetes* by a healthcare provider. Water ActivitiesWater Exercise ClassesOur water exercise classes have everything you’re looking for - the opportunity to increase flexibility and range of motion, as well as improve cardiovascular endurance and muscular tone. Because the water provides buoyancy as well as resistance, it is a great workout with no impact of harmful effects on joints. Water exercise classes provide a great way to beat the heat. Lifeguard Training The American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is approximately a 25-hour course which provides participants with the knowledge, skills and training necessary to become a lifeguard. Participants must be 15 years of age on or before the final scheduled session of the course. All classes are held at the Downtown YMCA. There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee that will be applied towards the class fee if the participant passes the pre-course session.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider RecertificationThe purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers program is to train professional-level rescuers to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants until more advanced medical personnel take over. This is the course that needs to be renewed every 2 years by lifeguards. To be eligible to participate in a review course, the participant must possess a current American Red Cross certificate (or the equivalent) for the course being conducted. Those without a certificate may not participate in the review course option. Please see page 31 for the full course.

The trainings are held at Scales Lake in Boonville, swimming in the lake, biking and running on the YMCA race course. Jump Start TrainingThis seven week beginner training program is designed for those interested in beginning a training program with the goal of becoming more active or even completing a half marathon. Team 13 TrainingThis volunteer led “13 Weeks to 13 Miles” training is designed to help individuals at all fitness levels train for the half marathon on October 5th.
