• To discover why and how these school systems had more than five rises in student performance for more than five years (most had 10+ yrs.) on international tests (e.g., PISA, TIMSS, NAEP, PIRLS).

Our Approach: Before and During the TripsBefore the trips 1. Book study as a team.2. Conversations with students and others from each system.

During the trips1. Common questions for teachers, principals, administrators,

and students.2. Interviews with Ministers of education, business and

government partners, higher education, and unions. 3. Observations of classrooms and schools.

Our Approach: After the Trips

1. GES teams met to discuss observations and identify common drivers of success.

2. Shared findings with participating school systems. 3. Leaders from school systems invited to present at

Global Education Summit about drivers most critical to their success. Attendees asked to record questions and comments.

from the five systems, Battelle for Kids, and others formed to continue regular conversations about strategies and opportunities to increase student success.
