    MEMBER SERVICEMembership CardsAll new members (11yrs old and older) willreceive a bar-coded membership card which they are

    required to scan each time they enter the Y facility. Fora family membership, each family member needs to scanhis or her card upon entrance into the facility.

    Day PassesNon-member guests who would like to use the facilityare required to pay for a day pass at the front desk.Guests are expected to follow all rules set for members.

    Lockers and LocksFor your convenience, lockers are available inthe locker rooms for daily use. We strongly

    recommend you bring a lock to secure yourpersonal items.

    Age guidelinesYouth under age 15 must be accompanied by a legalguardian or be participating in a YMCA program while inthe facility. Ages 11-14 must be accompanied by alegal guardian in the Wellness Center areas and havecompleted a fitness center orientation.

    JERSEY SHORE BRANCH YMCA BULLFROGS

    2012-2013 Season

    This years winter swim season will begin in mid-October and consists of weekday practicesalong with 5 swim meets on the weekends (both home and away). The regular season endswith a Championship Meet in mid-February, with the opportunity to advance to regional, state,and national competitions! Skilled swimmers, as well as those who are just beginning areencouraged to join the squad!

    *All team practices and home meets are held at the Jersey Shore High School pool.

    Registration Dates:

    Tuesday, September18 and Wednesday, September19-Both registration dates will take place from 6:00 - 8:00pm at the JS YMCA-Try-on suits will be available at registration (purchasing a team suit is optional butencouraged to help create a team-atmosphere)

    9th AnnualRIDE/WALK WITH THE YSunday, September 23, 2012

    Join us in this popular, family-oriented event on the beautifulRails-to-Trails in our area! Choose to participate by foot orbicycle on one of three different trail lengths. All three coursesfeature sight-seeing opportunities, such as fall foliage andspectacular land marks. Transportation is available from bothparking areas to each course starting location, with all coursesconcluding at the Whitetail Picnic Area. Lunch and prizes will beserved until 5:30 PM at the Venture Inn parking lot!

    Trail Courses:Ramsey to Whitetail - 5 miles(Transport vehicles depart at12:30pm from Venture Inn)

    Waterville to Whitetail - 9 miles(Transport vehicles depart at12:30pm from Venture Inn)

    Slate Run to Whitetail - 25 miles(Transport vehicles depart at12:00pm from Caboose Lodge)

    LONGABERGER BASKET BINGOOctober 27, 2012

    Join the Jersey Shore Branch YMCA at the popular,annual Longaberger Basket Bingo event - one of the

    best Basket Bingos in the area! Tickets for this eventwill be sold in advance for $15 or at the door for $20.Light refreshments will be served, PLUS there will beFREE Child Watch services for children ages 11 andunder with a ticket purchase and pre-registration.

    WELLNESS CENTER

    Sign up for a FREE Fitness Orientation which isavailable to all adult members. To use theWellness Center, youth 11-14yrs old mustcomplete a Fitness Orientation and have a parentpresent in this area during use. FitnessOrientations may be arranged at the Front Desk.NOTE: Children under 11 yrs are not permitted inthe Wellness Center or in group exercise classes.

    Theres no other fitness class like a Zumba fitness

    often building a deep-rooted community amongreturning students.

    ZUMBA GOLDThis class takes the Zumba formula and modifies themoves and pacing to suit the needs of active agingadults, as well as those just starting their journey to afit and healthy lifestyle. What stays the same are all

    the elements that the Zumba fitness party is knownfor: the zesty Latin music, easy to follow moves, andthe invigorating, party-like atmosphere.

    COMMIT TO BE FIT - RVR YMCA ChallengeOctober 15 - December 8Our annual eight-week fitness program has an Olympic theme this year!

    The program will feature weekly calories burned and achievements to obtain amedal (bronze, silver, and gold) for each week. At the end of the eight weeksession, our YMCA has a chance to bring home the gold at the Williamsport

    YMCA Pickelner Arena in a fitness challenge against our 4 neighboring branchesof the RVR YMCA, who will have also participated in this challenge during thecourse. More details are coming soon - ask us how to get involved!

    CHILD CAREENSURE A

    BRIGHTER FUTUREY-KIDS LEARN PRESCHOOL

    Our preschool program, for ages 3 to 5 yrs,provides children with a safe environment inwhich they can grow and develop to their fullpotential. We have a dedicated and professionalstaff who will help your child grow socially andeducationally while also teaching the values ofcaring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

    While enrolled in Y-Kids, your child willexperience:Weekly educational themesKindergarten readiness skillsField trips

    There are three preschool class options: there isa M/W/F class, a Tu/Th class, or a M-F class.Preschool hours are 9:00 am until Noon.

    Preschool fees:

    Mon/Wed/Fri class - $120 per month

    Tues/Thurs class - $100 per monthMon-Fri class - $200 per month

    Scholarships may be available to those whocannot afford YMCA fees. Please call or stopby the YMCA for an application.

    SACCOur School Age Child Care, for ages 5 to 12 years,

    provides a safe and structured environment with manyactivities to keep your child busy and focused. Someof the activities your child will experience whileenrolled in the Jersey Shore YMCA SACC program are:

    Child care is available Monday through Friday, beforeand after school or on an as needed basis. We also

    SACC fees:

    CHILDWATCHOur YMCA has a pleasant environment foryour children ages 3 months to 5 years old inour child watch room. While you work out,your children are cared for by our qualifiedYMCA staff. This service is FREE to membersand $1.00 per child, per visit fornon-members.

    The Child Watch hours are as follows:Monday - Thursday...4:30-7:30pm

    ACHIEVING GOALS TOGETHER

    Brick House is an after school program for adolescents and teens, generally

    those in junior high and high school, that is offered at no cost through thegenerosity of the Lycoming County United Way.

    The program is designed to prepare youth and teens for success in lifethrough activities that build self-esteem and teach important life skills. BrickHouse promotes healthy lifestyle decisions and habits and is focused towardkeeping kids off the street after school. Our friendly and caring staff membersprovide each teen with a unique experience. Teens will be engaged in activi-ties that include homework help, tutoring, mentoring, goal setting, sports ac-tivities, teen leadership opportunities, career planning, educational opportu-nity

    planning, and workshops about preventing drug and alcohol use. Servicelearning is stressed and encouraged. The program is both fun and educational.

    YOUTH DEVELOPMENTTINY T-BALLA great introductory class for boys and girls ages 3-5years old. Tiny T-ball is an instructional clinic in whichchildren are taught how to throw, catch, and swing a

    baseball bat. Gloves and/or mitts are necessary forclass.Details:

    YOUTH INSTRUCTIONAL VOLLEYBALLExperience what volleyball is all about! Players ages 13to 17 will spend time on the court working on individualskills plus group activities and games. Learn how to

    Its Time ForA ChangeWellness Center & Teen Room

    Renovations

    Get ready for some changes at the Jersey Shore Y

    this fall! Plans include a 3,000 square foot

    Wellness Center that will accommodate treadmills,

    ellipticals, and strength training equipment. A new

    1,600 square foot Aerobics Room will provide space

    for group exercise classes, as well as popular

    programs such as Zumba and Silver Sneakers.

    Rounding out the new fitness areas will be a new

    900 square foot free-weight room.

    Separate from the fitness areas, another part of the renovatio

    includes the creation of a new Teen Center. Once completed,

    youth and teens will be able to use the new room to work on

    homework, socialize with friends, or enjoy games like air hocke

    billiards, or sports.

    Construction is estimated to be complete around October 201

    SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITYYMCA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMThe YMCA works to ensure that regardless ofability to pay, we make it possible for everyone in the

    community to participate in our programs andactivities. For that reason, our Y has a scholarshipprogram to make our programs and activities moreaffordable. In previous years, the Y awarded over$250,000 in membership and program subsidies tothose who could not afford the fees.

    If you believe in the mission of the Y and youbelieve in how the Y can help individuals andfamilies in our community with improving their health,then please consider a donation to the Jersey Shore

    YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. The Strong KidsCampaign is our annual program to fund thescholarship program. One hundred percent of themoney donated goes directly to the benefit ofchildren, adults and families in our community.
